Re: Weekly Randoms 7/6-12

  • When attempting to burp LO, I find myself burping every time. More than she does. Anyone else?
  • Loading the player...
  • @henrytviii omg that is horrifying. I was watching the show "odd mom out" and she said sometimes her vagina sounds like Mac and cheese being stirred when she walks after having 3 kids and I was like YUP welcome to PP life. If a tampon comes out I may cry...
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.

THIS! I'll somehow end up burping and then I tell him 'that's how its done'. :))

  • I cried today realizing my maternity leave is halfway over! I love my job but I don't want to take care of other new moms and babies when I have my own at home that someone else is caring for! I wish I could afford to work part time! Oh well... :(
  • @virginiaunicorn11
Glad that I might not have to be stabby after all. Lol! My whole thing is, why lie? So you can make a new mom feel even more crappy? Seems bonkers to me! Lol but thank you for letting us know that there's hope if the whole tampon thing turns into a fiasco!

    @henrytviii
Oh my gosh...it literally NEVER occurred to me that a tampon might not stay in!! X_X [-O< I guess that's another one of those things you don't think of as a first time mom...
  • Ok, I had sex for the first time and dh could only get it like 1/4 the way in and even that hurt. How is that possible if it could be so loose as to lose a tampon?
  • @foxa319 that is EXACTLY how I feel. I'm so nervous I'm going to breakdown at my first delivery back because all my emotions about my delivery will come flooding back. My OB at my 6 week appt said "it's completely normal to spend the week before you go back on the couch sobbing, thinking the world is going to end".

  • 2. Tampon falling out is no bueno. My mother is a physical therapist, and she's had patients referred to her for this reason. It's an extreme case that you should get help for, if that happens to you. There are plenty of exercises and treatments to get your virginia back in shape, ladies!! My mama always bemoans what doctors tell women is "normal." She says when she tries to bring this up at health conferences, doctors (mostly the men) get awkward and don't want to discuss it. She feels it's another way the systems aren't supportive enough of women. So if this happens to you, advocate for yourself to get it addressed!!

Yes! You don't have to worry about peeing every time you sneeze, you shouldn't lose tampons. Just because its normal doesn't mean you can't change it! I hate hearing that. It isn't true. At all. There are options, but no one likes to talk about it.
  • @Sammy K @virginiaunicorn11 What are these options and who do we talk to about them
  • I swear that my LO can smell our food - virtually every meal we eat will involve him waking up and crying, and often ready for a feed. I think he wants a taste of our food.

@JessHeppell Even holding LO was so awkward for me for the first few weeks. I certainly didn't instinctively know how to look after him straight away, but 5 weeks in and it's much easier. I read so much about looking after babies prior to giving birth, but in the end I think I just had to live it. And feeding and changing covers a lot for the first few weeks!

Depending on the issue, you can try PT before surgical options. Talk to your OB and get a referral. Depending on where you live, you might have to travel to the nearest large city since women-focused PT is still not completely common. I know there are a few options where I live, which is a small city in the US.

Kegels are a good starting point, and you can also Google pelvic floor exercises since there are more than just Kegels. But obviously that's probably not enough for the severity of what we're talking about.

Tried a tampon the other day because spotting, yellow discharge, swimming, and public pools do not mix right? Uh, ow. Like super ow. Had no trouble getting it in or it falling out (oh my God I would have freaked out) but WOW did it hurt to take out. I'm terrified for sex now. 8 weeks on Sunday and still nothing.
  • @Sammy K good to know! I don't have these issues yet or at all (fingers crossed) but good to know my options of they do come up. Kegels and other exercises so they don't come up it is!
  • LO cried all day today. If she wasn't eating or sleeping she wAs crying. Ugh makes me wonder why?! Is she in pain from gas? In pain in general? I have no idea!!! Ugh
  • And hate to bring this up but even if you are cleared for tampons try might not stay in right now! Ahh joys of motherhood!

Okay, so very sorry if I was alarmist and then stepped out. Working is not fair. I didn't mean to imply it was normal, I just know a few people who have had the issue of them slipping, myself included. BUT we all use the super slim tampons, tampax used to call then "teen slender" hehe and we all run hard. So I've felt them slip when running shortly after having a baby but never fall out and more kegels definitely solved the issue. SO I was totally exaggerating and I'm keeping company with women who destroyed their pelvic floors running 7-8 months pregnant. Sorry if I scared anyone!

  • I couldn't stand wearing tampons after I was pregnant with my first. I've worn them all my life and now just can't do it. It just feels off. I happily discovered Always Infinity. Beats any pad hands down.
  • Anyone dealing with cradle cap?
  • overnight.. my boobs will soak a receiving blanket just with the milk thats leaking from the boob that isn't being used at that time. i think my boobs make more laundry than LO does. -_-

Just started. Rub a little coconut oil on it after you wipe with a wet wash cloth. Seems to help my LO.
  • Anyone know how to get rid of the hiccups or if they can be prevented? LO didn't seem to mind them at first, but now seems irritated by them.

If you are bf'ing, that seems to work. I usually just give him the boob a bit longer and they will go away. I think it has to do with the swallowing.
  • @henrytviii I have a log with the date and oz frozen and I tally it every 5 days. Yeah.

@lovethatcolosun I've been using t-gel shampoo and it isn't doin SHIT.

We use gripe water! It works almost instantly for our little girl. It's been a lifesaver for us with those dang hiccups and she calms down right away too
  • An old ex just texted me assumedly after creeping on my Facebook pictures (we are not friends) saying, "Damn. Your beach day? You did not just have a baby." 1. Pretty sure I did according to my dairy farm boobs and torn Virginia 2. You're creepy 3. I don't think your wife would appreciate this 4. I don't appreciate this 5. Go away.

My response was "it's an illusion. I'm actually 400 pounds and covered with stretch marks and bacne." Effectively scared him off. I thought people feeling like they could comment on our bodies would stop when pregnancy ended but I guess not!
  • @Serenamarr I love your response so much but @dancegurl1118 yours might be even better. My favorite type of asshole!
  • I had one of my worst fears realized last night. We packed up the family and the dog and we're headed to my parents house 4 hours away. It's a slow start with rush hour traffic and stopping to get gas and food. LO was passed out in the back seat with a tummy full of milk and DS was having a blast with his trucks. We head into the mountains and get stuck in traffic only to have the car break down. So here we are in the center median pull off lane with an broken ass truck and cars suddenly whizzing by at 75 mph. Road side assistance activated and we called family and friends to come and rescue the dog and myself and the two kids. DH stayed with the truck and waited for the tow truck. Sitting in the truck like a fish in a barrel praying that no one would hit us....then transferring two car seats and two kids with traffic flying by into a friends truck. It's not for the faint of heart. The state patrol we called showed up moments after we were all buckled in. We all made it home safe and sound. Not the excitment I was hoping to have this weekend.
  • @lovethatcolosun I'm so happy everything turned out well for your family. Sounds so scary!

My LO had a little crust on his ears for a couple days that I kept wiping away with a wet washcloth, and it went away. Now he has a relatively mild case on the top of his head. I didn't know that's what it was at first, and now think that's probably what was on his ears.

I've noticed his skin started to feel drier at week 5. May be due to increased baths, since it's been so hot. Best way to cool him down without AC or fans. Breaking out the coconut oil now, thanks for the reminder!
  • I think I accidentally used the butt cleaning wash cloth from last bath to wipe LOs eyes/face this bath... The new washcloth I brought in was identical and after I cleaned his face I looked up and saw it sitting there..... Ugh can a baby get pink eye from his own poop? Bad mom award.
