Are your first (or other kids if more than 2) driving you completely crazy??? My 3 year old is a pain in the ass!! I think it's a combination of just turning 3 and the baby. But she won't listen and carries on with the whining and crying. Just don't know what to do with her....any pointers??

My almost 6 year old was awesome for the first 9 weeks. This past week he's been driving me crazy!

I can't complain too much with our nearly 4 year old but sometimes I think his shenanigans is amplified by the fact we now have a baby. If it were still just us, I don't think I'd notice as much. At the doc appointment today he was everywhere, he wasn't anything crazy but I kept batting him away from ds2 because he simply wouldn't get out of his face or stop touching him after he'd been all over the germ infested doc office. Ugh I was getting to my limit. But I guess I should be glad that he loves his baby brother instead of resenting him like my brother is going through right now with his 3 year old and 1 week old. That's not fun for anybody!

My 3 year old is seriously nuts. She screams and whines over everything even something simple like dropping a piece of corn off her fork. I think her emotions are high because of all the changes with new baby.

I hear you. My son turned 3 on May 15th and DD was born on May 29. He has been super needy and annoying. Grandma doesn't work and offered to take him out for his own special day on Wednesday. That did wonders for all of us. He enjoyed being sans Mom, Dad and sister and came back a new kid!

My 20 month old is definitely testing me. I do early intervention so I have a lot of experience with behavior management. Time outs work really well for young children. I will also tell me daughter sometimes that she needs to go to her room for a minute to calm down and read a book, and the quiet time seems to help and gives her the opportunity to change her attitude. I ask her if she is ready to listen whenever we are done with a time out or quiet time, and she has to tell me "I'm ready." Some good terms to use with them are "listening" and "making good choices" for example, "you need to he a good listener" or "that was not a good choice." and ESPECIALLY praising them/being positive when they do make good choices and listen. If talking to them doesn't seem to work, a sticker chart for good behavior might help.

I'm screwed!! I tried all of these and she could careless!! Timeouts no longer work cause she has figured out that she can do whatever she wants and all she has to do is wait a few minutes to come out and play again. Listening is her biggest issue, she just won't. I can't tell you how many times I have to tell something many many times and it drives me crazy. I will tell her you are going in a time out if you don't listen to Mommy and she just ignores me. When I put her in a time out and ask her what she did wrong she has no idea. She responses well to praise but the problem is she hasn't been doing much to be praised about. Whenever she answers me and does what I ask the first time I make a big deal about it but it doesn't really seem to make a difference if she is in a mood. I spent $20 on a stick chart and while it work for getting ready in the morning it does nothing to work on the listening or attitude issues.

My son just turned 4 a couple weeks ago, and is driving me nuts. Whining tantrum about EVERYTHING, including putting jammies on, brushing teeth, going potty before nap, going potty before bed, washing hands before eating, getting dressed, putting shoes on, picking out books before bed. Basically, all day. I think it's just a product of his age, but it's also amplified by the big change of having a baby around that is pulling mom and dad away from him.

I also hate that he has to touch DD on her face and head all the time, and basically just be all up in her face for every interaction with her. I've told him to give her some space roughly 132 times since she's been born. It means nothing to him.

Omg yes personal space means nothing to them! Ds1 gets a little pissy every time I tell him to back up. I explained to him that his brother can now see him from a further distance but 9 times out of 10 he disregards.

And the pp who said sticker chart...it has been a game changer! Love it. My preschooler is a Leo and praise definitely works better than anything else. I'm sure it's the same for most but he is that typical prideful lion!

I have a 4 year old. She's really good with the baby but is not listening AT ALL! She is really testing me right now. I'm so sick of it.

Girl, just hang in there and be consistent. You got this! Find the smallest things to be positive about with her. I thought of a couple other things you could try, if you aren't already. Make sure she is making eye contact with you when you are talking to her. Also, have her repeat back what you told her so that you know what she as heard. That doesn't guarantee comprehension but it could help lol.

My DD is 3 and she is fantastic with the baby but at times is a terror for us. She has lost all of her ability to do things by and for herself. Mealtimes have become terrible.... She wants us to feed her or she pokes for an hour or so. We are potty training too so that's another piece to the puzzle. Oh joy... I can't wait until they can play more together. I also keep telling myself that this is just a phase and if will get better (I hope anyway).
