Sent home after induction / stadol experiences anyone?

I was sent to L&D Tuesday by my perinatal Bc of ongoing elevated bp. I was 37 weeks exactly. Got there and the on call doc induced me straight away with 12 hrs of cervadil. At 1 am with painful regular contractions I was given stadol through IV and immediately started having hallucinations and experienced what I can only imagine was something similar to tripping out for about 2 hours. My husbands face kept melting into a blue dinosaur! The cervadil was removed at 4 am and then the new on call doc came in at 7 am and told me my bp was not high enough to warrant induction and after the contractions slowed around 3 pm sent me home.

My question is, has anyone else been sent home part way through inducing? And has anyone else had bad experiences with stadol? I'm terrified now to do much of anything for fear of triggering labor and have a scheduled induction date of 39 weeks for high BP (chronic condition). WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

  • I hate stadol! That stuff is way to strong in my opinion. I was given stadol to "relax" me when I was having contractions at 31 weeks. It was awful, my husband said he had never seen me acting so strange. I'm currently 37 weeks and have been having contractions on and off. I just try to take it easy and not stress. I only have 2 weeks before being induced.

  • I don't have any experience in that area sorry! However I am being induced next Friday. I had no idea they can just decide to stop the induction and send you home. Oh no. Me and my doctor are going to have a talk during my next BPP/NST to make sure if they induce me they go all the way or they can just wait until this birth comes about naturally. I am very sorry to hear about your experience though! Seems very scary.
  • Yikes! Last thing I want when I am in labor is to be hallucinating! I don't know about being sent home after starting an induction...i'd call your doctor...
  • No experience, but that sounds TERRIBLE! :-O

If your induction is scheduled I wouldn't worry. The problem was this past week I was not scheduled to be induced but the doctor I saw thought my BP readings warranted induction, the on call doc at the hospital agreed and then the very next day the new doc came in and stopped everything. Needless to say my husband, mom and I were very confused with all these conflicting instructions...
