LO is getting a little too long for the newborn napper, and I'm dreading moving him down to the larger PnP space. We just got him out of our bed and I don't want to mess with success.
This. We're trying to transition to the larger pnp space tonight...I'm scared. She loved the napper but is too long for it now, so she gets annoyed that she can't move much.
@delujm0@KonaCoffeeBean ok so LO is getting too big for the napper but...is there another option besides the mattress on the base of the PNP? I feel dumb. Can it go to a higher level? Is it where that mesh is?

I won't lie...my in laws put our pnp together for us while I was in the hospital. But the mattress us up high, like right under the bottom of the napper currently, so there is definitely a way to do that. I just don't know how to do it myself.
The mesh on ours has little plastic handles that push into the frame of the pack n play and that mesh is now what the mattress pad lies on. I love using the bassinet for baby to sleep.
I'm pretty sure my LO would sleep perfectly fine in her crib next door (she is 6 weeks old), it's really for my anxiety that she's still in our room. I like being able to just lean off the bed and put my hand on her to reassure myself she's breathing. She sleeps in a "crib lite" which is just a smaller pack n play on the bassinet level. She has started sleeping for 5 or 6 hour stretches (pediatrician approved) at night which is glorious. During the day she is either in her bouncer or on me, she does not like to be put down during the day but at night as long as she is swaddled in her halo swaddlesack she knows it's bedtime and falls asleep relatively quickly.. Makes me feel like I'm at least starting to get the hang of it!
I feel like I'm doing a terrible job bc during the day LO is in my arms or in rock n play which only lasts for half hour naps. And nighttime she will only sleep in crib for at most 2 hr clip but once she wakes up she will not go back down in crib so she ends up on my chest so I can get some sleep around her loud grunting noises. I feel like I'm losing it bc I have only been getting 3 hrs max a night
I feel like I'm in for some trouble... LO managed to turn her whole body 90 degrees so when I came to get her from a nap she was nowhere near where I left her... She's only 6.5 weeks and apparently a "mover"!
LO slept perfectly in his bassinet for the first 2 weeks now the last couple of days his decided that he hates that and just wants to sleep with mum. I try to keep in his bassinet but cave when I want to sleep. I really don't want him getting use to this, anyone got any ideas?
LO sleeps in her swing, pack & play napper, boppy lounger, & lately on me during the day. Mostly on me not bc she has to, but bc I don't want to put her down. My separation anxiety is starting now for August 10th!!
We finally got crib sheets, monitor, & noise machine for her to start sleeping in her crib. Now all I need is a shade to cover the semi-circle window above hers. We have black out curtains, but I feel weird turning on the lamp to nurse/rock at night with that little window open to the front of the house.
Also, I want to ask her pedi about her noises while flat. She was in bassinet until those grunts/wheezes woke her up, now she's in her bouncer seat. (Slept 5 hours last night!!) Someone suggested it was a congested nose, but it's only when she's flat & it sounds like it's coming from her throat. I'm going to record her tonight/tomorrow tonight.
So hopefully crib transition by this weekend!!!
LO has the same, pedi told me get salty water and put about 5ml in a syringe and squirt it up there. Leave for 5 minutes and suck it out. I'm not sure if you have it in America but we have a product in Australia that's called fess and its that same sort of concept.
Came over from July. (lil girl was born in June 3 weeks early) she sleeps in her bassinet at night. Many times I have to rock it until she goes to sleep.. But I had spoiled her for the first week.. I barely slept because every time I put her down she would wake up. But I refuse to co-sleep as SIDS is a major fear of mine (and my sister died of SIDS so I'm massively scared to do blankets and ect.)
Need some help ladies! My l/o is 8 weeks now and we've been trying to transition to her crib for daytime naps. She hates it! I bought fleece/minky sheets that are similar to the pnp bassinet she was sleeping in. During the night she sleeps in the pnp. In her crib I've tried cocooning her in rolled up receiving blankets under her arms to make her feel like she's in the bassinet, no luck. She will lay in her crib and scream until she gets sick. We're trying a new schedule and let her lay in her crib for an hour this morning, she screamed the entire time and I wanted to cry as well. Kept her awake for 3 hours, she was completely exhausted, tried the crib again and she woke up screaming for another 30 minutes. I'm at my wits end!

My LO is just over 10 weeks now and we were having similar issues. We want to have her sleeping in the crib at night at the 3 month mark so I'm spending the month of August trying to get her to sleep in the crib during naps, and she was doing the same thing. I think part of the problem is that we hardly spend any time in the nursery - we're always either in the living room or the bedroom that DH and I share, so I think that being in an unfamiliar space - especially waking up alone in it - was scaring her. So the first thing I did was make an effort to spend more time in her room during the day. We now read in there and try to have at least some tummy time, basically just get her used to being the space.
After a day or so of that, I set her in the crib with her mobile on. She LOVES her mobile - she likes the music it plays and she likes watching it move, so watching it distracted her from the fact that she was in the crib. At first, I'd stand next to the crib while she watched it, then I'd leave the room while it was on and attempt to get some chores done quickly. Slowly, we've built up the time that she's happy just hanging out in the crib.
Now we've moved on to trying to actually do naps in there. I read on Lucie's List that it helps to lay babies in the crib when they're sleepy, but not actually asleep. Apparently it startles them to wake up in a place that's different from where they fell asleep, especially if they're all alone. This has been working for us! She usually only sleeps for 20 minutes at a time in there, but there have been a few afternoons where she's actually napped for an hour at a time in her crib - I'd say we're starting to find success!
I don't think that LO is quite ready to sleep in the crib full-time yet, which is fine since I still don't plan on that particular transition until September. But we're definitely making progress. I hope our experience is able to help you!
I'm really working to break her from her motion addiction for napping during the day. I've found she gets really crappy "dozing" sleep in it and I just ignored it because I figured it's better than no sleep.
I try to get her two 2 hour naps a day in her crib on her belly, she's a much happier child when that happens. Obviously it doesn't always happen, nor is it at the same time. If she starts really whining I just go in and stroke her head and she goes back to sleep.
Night time, still swaddled and on her back in her crib. She puts herself to sleep in the dark but I feed her right before. She went almost 9 hours without a feeding last night and I panicked..but she's been eating every 2 hours to make up for it today.

8.5 weeks old, sleeps in rock n play by our bed at night from about 12-6. During the day naps have been on the boppy pillow on my lap after feeding (I just hang out in the chair watching TV or reading), in the car seat while driving around running errands, in the Boba wrap while I wear her, or in the bed with me if I need a nap too. Whatever works, right?
We've had a couple successful naps in the crib in the past week, but they're fairly short (30-40 min). She definitely doesn't sleep as long in there as she does other places. But I think it's time to start transitioning her to naps in the crib, and maybe night sleeping in the rock n play in the nursery instead of our room. She's starting to want a quiet place for naps and I think she'd go down sooner at night if she weren't in our room, where we typically have a lamp on for reading.
Lo is 9.5 weeks and sleeps 7 hours straight in her room in her crib we did the transition last Friday and she could care less that she isn't in the room with mom and dad. Cool beans with me. I'm back at work so naps are in a crib at daycare. Before she slept in pack and play bassinet then just the pack and play then the crib. Worked out great.
We are a week into crib sleeping after being in the bassinet and co sleeping. She does great in the crib at night and it's kinda hit or miss during the day. Yesterday she slept in her bouncy chair with the vibration on and kitchen fan on high for two hours. We just go with what works during the day but keep it consistent at night with the crib. If she wakes up for a feed around/after 5 am then we do the last feeding while co sleeping.
We definitely spend time in her nursery. Perhaps we'll spend more time in the crib with me standing over talking to her when she's happy. She finally slept for an hour in the crib this afternoon after total exhaustion took over...then the doorbell rang and woke her up. Maybe I'll go back to swaddling her, she's never liked her arms tucked in.
... it was NOT $100 when it was purchased for me from my registry - at the time, it was like $20-30ish? But it's really basic, just plays Brahm's Lullaby and spins I have no idea why the price has jumped. Maybe this particular one is no longer made?
LO is still co sleeping in bed with me. Now that I'm back at work His daycare has him taking short naps in the pack n play. I've tried to do this at night with him, but he cries and cries until he's next to me. After missing him at work all day, and being too exhausted to fight him on it I find myself gladly snuggling up to him! And I said I'd never co sleep... Jokes on me I guess! Lol
LO is still in the rock n play at night and mostly napping in the pack n play during the day. Really hoping we can get her transitioned to the pack n play and then her crib very soon.
I put my baby straight into the crib tightly swaddled when we got home from the hospital at day 3. I've not had any problems at all with her sleeping at night in there and she wakes once each night for a feed (7 weeks old now). Different story during the day, but now I'm finally managing at least one of her two day sleeps in the crib. I think she prefers her car seat more than anything to sleep in though.
How did the transition to the crib work for those that have done it so far? For instance, put them down already asleep for the night? Every time they'd wake up crying what did you do? For naps every time I put her down already asleep she wakes up instantly when I set her down.
@slr1229 I always put her down super drowsy but not totally out. If she's warm and cuddled and totally asleep she will wake up in the transition to a flat surface. If she's drowsy (like after a feeding) she will usually go right to sleep at night. If it's daytime I put her down when she starts showing signs of being tired and put a pacifier in her mouth and keep my hand on her back until I see her dozing, then I let her settle herself into sleep. If she's crying I abandon all of that because she's too young to cry herself to sleep.

Ok so LO has been super noisy in her bassinet and doesn't sleep well at all and I don't get much sleep because she super loud. I'm so tempted to try on her stomach and possibly get a wedge for the mattress. Idk what she's grunting about or what's going on but it's making for long nights Any suggestions? We have her swaddled
^ our LO is loud too, but it's like he talks in his sleep. He smiles and laughs and coos it up all night. Eventually I fall asleep, but it's pretty difficult. Trying to get him into the PNP on the far wall in our bedroom but he gets mad at about 3a when he's not in his bassinet directly by the bed where he can see me.
DH will have an entire conversation with you in his sleep, so I wonder if LO got a little of that. He definitely got Dad's difficulty falling asleep/never wanting to sleep.
Pretty sure LO doesn't like to sleep anywhere. Falls asleep great. But, I can't seem to find a place to keep him asleep. Besides on the boppy on my lap... But, that's not restful for me. He's high maintenance.
She was in the RnP and then sometimes on the swing but it got to the point where she would only sleep 1.5-2 hours at a time so now she sleeps with my mom and she sleeps 3 hours. She does fine on her back but will not sleep in the crib by herself.
My LO is 9 weeks old now and has been sleeping almost exclusively in her RnP in the living room (we have a camera on at night). She has a tendency to spit up a lot -- Sometimes cascading waterfall spit ups... so the incline is helpful. She does sometimes nap flat on her back in the bassinet or on the couch while I'm next to her. I'm planning to transition her to napping in her RnP in her bedroom during the day soon, and hopefully then to her crib soon after. I will try the tricks mentioned for inclining the mattress so the transition isn't too dramatic. *fingers crossed*
Night 1 of sleeping in the crib. We've been doing naps in here, but pack n play at night. Well, tonight we're starting the transition to her own bed in her own room. Thankfully we have a twin bed so I can be in here if she needs me... I'm planning to sleep in the nursery with her all of this week and then hopefully next week I'll be back with DH in our room. Hopefully all goes well!

LO slept from 1230-6 - night 1 has been a success!
I suck! Mines still in the rock n play because he sleeps so well in there. I'm telling myself in 3 months we'll make the transition to pack n play. Then 4 months, it's to the crib. I think I can, I think I can...

I know someone whose 8 month old is still in the rock n play. To me, that seems a bit long, but it's what's working for them. You know your baby, and if the rock n play is what's getting you and baby the best sleep, you're doing a great job!

DS1 was in the RnP til 4 months old. He transitioned just fine to the crib. Of course, every baby is different!

Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle (arms in), on back, white noise, dark.
Happy baby! And mommy.
We'll see how it works out. Belly hurts her right now so will have to try at a less dramatic sleepy time.
Any suggestions? We have her swaddled
