Lost mucus plug ...eek!

ummm ... Pretty sure that darn thing fell out last night. I thought it was "just" a huge glob of yellow discharge, but realized that it was much more than that.
Anyone ever experienced this in early pregnancy?
I am waiting for my doctor to call ... Ugh!!!

My discharge has been yellow as well. After I wipe, but for the past 2 days I havent had any discharge really. I think it's normal

Um no, it's safe to say I've never heard of that (but I'm also not a doctor). Calling your doctor was definetly a wise decision!

Not this early, no. But your mucus plug can regenerate itself. I lost bits of mine multiple times throughout my last pregnancy.

Can we tag this as the first and last time anyone ever brings up the mucus plug ever again? I'll lay it out for you:

1. No, losing your mucus plug does not mean you are going in to labor or will be giving birth soon.

2. Yes, the mucus plug can and will regenerate throughout your entire pregnancy

3. No, no one wants to ever see a picture so we ""know what you're talking about", That's just gross!

4. If you are worried about your mucus plug call your doctor

I have never heard of this in early pregnancy but hey, weirder things have happened. God forbid anyone say it isn't possible (we know how those things end). Good thing you called your doctor.

Maybe this can be my UO but why is a mucus plug not acceptable to bring up and ask about but there's a whole thread talking about hemorrhoid, at that's perfectly fine?

This is a site meant for women all experiencing changes to their body and we should be free to ask about these things if we want to (with the exception of no pictures).

If you've been on TB for previous pregnancies, this is a really hot topic in 3rd tri. Women will actually post pics. It's crazy! I think some posters are joking about that not necessarily OP.

I don't understand why people get so grossed out bout bodily functions. Like most people on here are average of 25. Im 20. I dont see much gross about women asking whats going on with their bodies. Specially since most have mentioned they aren't a first time mom. I would imagine not much could gross you out after that. I don't see why people are harsh on post on here. Like your the hall monitor? And everything has to go your way. Don't like something just go about your busy, and let others enjoy their post. Geez.

Yeah, just wait until 3rd tri. Mucus plugs are everywhere!!! Plus they get all psyched up like they're going into labor immediately. Like PPs said, they can regenerate. I never noticed one with my first. With my second it was well over a week until I gave birth. It really doesn't mean much.

It's not about being super grossed out by the topic (though if there had been pictures.. :-& ). It's more that... how are we supposed to know what came out of her body and why? It's a weird thing to bring to a message board instead of calling your doctor about.

If you're grossed out by bodily functions, you could just keep it to yourself instead of making someone else feel bad about having a question. Even doctors have a hard time knowing everything there is to know about pregnant women. Maybe one of the 2nd through 8th time moms has experienced something similar and can shed some light on the situation. We're pregnant, we're not gross.

That's what I'm not understanding. The thread title is "lost mucus plug"...if you can't stomach it, keep scrolling. Yes, I have been on TB in last pregnancies and was a very frequent poster. I'm familiar with how TB works and generally know what to and what not to post. It was always a rule in our last BMB for no bodily fluid pics and no bare belly/underwear pics.

Given that we are NOT in the 3rd trimester, I think it is even more acceptable for the OP to ask this question because she's in first tri and wants to hear stories, hear if it's normal before her doctor responds.

Heck....I'm pretty sure I can say this with certainty that over half of all our FTM's probably had no clue what a mucus plug was and this conversation probably sparked their interest and they did some research!

Just to back-up twindling, the two other times I've been on TB, mucous plugs were discussed in great detail on 3rd tri as well. You should be desensitized by then by all of the bodily function questions throughout the next however many months.

I didn't think the hemorrhoid post was appropriate either but didn't feel like starting up an argument there. I am not bothered by the word hemorrhoid but details were absolutely unnecessary. But I also agree with PP about calling your doctor instead. We are not doctors and these are questions you should be directing at them. My doctors office always gets back to me within the same day and if it's an emergency, within an hour.

TMI ALERT!!!!! Just popping on to say, this is my third pregnancy and each time I have been pregnant I have had random gobs of CM throughout the pregnancy. When not pregnant I have very little CM so it's always a surprise when I'm pregnant. Yes it can be freaky, but it's most likely just a result of the extra hormones. Just one of those random pregnancy things, try not to worry!

@Twindling I only posted that because of my previous experiences with TB and this particular subject matter. I understand that people have questions and concerns and I totally want to be a part of helping where I can. I guess the humor from my NOV '13 board didn't transfer over here. It was totally meant to be informative and a joke, and for those that didn't take it that way... sorry, not sorry.

I tend to lose my mucous plug around 12-14 weeks. AFAIK it is because I have a irritable uterus and dialate early. Early in pregnancy, I am usually around a fingertip dialated (but it appears the inside is not) and I walk around dialated to 4 cm for months at the end. (And yet I always go overdue, go figure...) As the other mamas mentioned the mucous plug regenerates. The first time it happened to me and I freaked, my midwife basically told me that it is uncommon, but just a variation of normal. HTH.
