What's new with baby (size, development): Apple seed, developing all major stuff. So exciting!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Having a romantic dinner with DH tonight. Oops, that's for us, not for bébé.

Rant/rave/symptoms: First appointment tomorrow! I know there will be nothing to see on the u/s, but I'm excited nonetheless.

Questions for the Group: none today

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment: Hm, does skipping school with my best friend count? I didn't like high school very much.

What's new with baby (size, development): Last day of appleseed
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Trying not to puke my guts out
Rant/rave/symptoms: Oh my gosh the nausea is awful. I can't imagine what it would be like without Unisom/B6. I'm almost to the point of asking for Zofran. Didn't take my prenatals today because the thought made me want to puke. I'm just praying the next few weeks go very quickly. I seriously feel like I was hit by a bus. I'm a total zombie walking around and I just all around feel like poop. I seriously hate first trimester. I know I'm lucky to be here but I hate it. Being at work is almost a relief so I don't have to chase around my 3 year old and 1 year old. But I'm thankful my 3 year old has been such a cuddle bug lately.

Questions for the Group: @skruhmin yes, I've had issues posting as well. I've been using the HTML editor to write.

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment. Playing soccer for four years was a wonderful experience. My favorite moment was our senior night game when my Dad brought flowers for me in my school colors.

What's new with baby (size, development): still a poppyseed! Ready to be an apple see hah!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: prenatals, went & go lots of healthy food yesterday, drinking tons of water. & only having one dr pepper a day. That part makes me sad lol

Rant/rave/symptoms: the bloating has seemed to subside a little bit also my acne is going away!!!! It's like a freaking magic! I've been fighting it since I got of the pill in October ugh! Boobs are still a little tender to touch. Also woke up this morning with a weird rash ugh! Also left a message at 8:45 yesterday morning at the doctors, they didnt call back until 2:30 it rang once & when I went to pick it up it hung up. They left me a message to call them back. So I immediately called them back & had to leave yet again another message. Didn't hear from them after so if they don't call by lunch I'm going to call again. So annoying.

Questions for the Group: anyone ever had a rash while pregnant? I know I'm early on but I haven't changed anything & it's on my back right before my butt. It's red with bumps. Not too itchy but freaks me out. Hoping it goes away.

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment. DH & I met in highschool! Summer of our junior year. But we went to different schools. Actually rival schools & he played baseball so I loved watching him play!
  • Week: 5

What's new with baby (size, development): Apple seed!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: how to change the office with no door in to a nursery

Rant/rave/symptoms: I was a bit emotional yesterday, cried for a girl who is moving to Europe when se said goodbye... I don't even like her that much!!!

Questions for the Group: any one know about taking amino acids? Not now, but can't find anything about if you can.

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment. Prom with all my best friends, we were all on the swim team together, our limo had a hot tub on top, we cruised around George Town hanging out the hot tub!
  • jy725jy725 member
@Lchingrn a hot tub on the limo?! That is amazing!
  • Week 6 for me.
Prep: We're not doing much at this point.
Rave: We thought we were more than seven weeks pregnant based on my lmp but based on yesterday's ultrasound that changes to just six weeks today. This is going to be such a long pregnancy. Especially since my son was over a week late. Also I've had nasty morning sickness for two weeks already and am so sick of being sick. Blah!
HS memory: I broke my foot twice my Jr year. I got really good at crutches and raced my classmates in the hall.
  • Week: 6w2d

What's new with baby (size, development): sweet pea

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: nothing

Rant/rave/symptoms: totally NBR but my hormones are making me 10x more sad at finding out last night a childhood friend passed away from a nasty reaction to his chemo treatment. It wasn't the cancer that killed him but what was supposed to save him that did.

Questions for the Group: none today

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment. I had a last name that fit in the alphabet right next to two of my best friends so our lockers were by each other for four years as well as getting to go through graduation together.

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Moving furniture around from the second bedroom (soon to be nursery) into the office to make space for a crib/rocker etc. I figure I should help DH do this while I still feel good.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I am hungry all the time, eating so often. Touch of nausea but not bad at all. Also so sleepy!

Questions for the Group: Anyone planning any fun announcements for family? We bought countdown blocks for each set of grandparents and we are going to just set them up so they say "34 weeks" and wait until they get it.

GTKY: High school for me was basically all academics... Was in a farther away school for the IB program and studied all day. On the plus side, since school was farther, my parents gave me a van when I was 16 to drive. First mom van :) my hubby's work gave him a van for a company car this March--- YES :)
  • Week: 5 + 2 What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed-Cooking away What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: nada Rant/rave/symptoms: starting to get turned off by certain foods Questions for the Group: GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment.- Graduated and got the F out of town
  • Week: 6w 1d

What's new with the baby(size/development): sweat pea! Circulating blood, sprouting eyes, nose, and chin and wiggling growing arms & legs.

What's something new you're doing to get ready for the baby: Working on how we will announce him/her, but first to the grandparents!

Rant/rave/symptoms: BB's hurt every time the wind blows, scared that morning sickness is starting. Not feeling so hot today.

Questions for the group: is everyone else a nervous wreck waiting for their first ultrasound!?! I am so worried about bad news!

Share a memorable high school moment: Taking 2 art classes (same semester) my senior year and being in heaven (I ended up becoming a graphic designer)
  • Week: 6.6

What's new with baby (size, development):
Tomorrow we get to be a new fruit!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:
Planning to tell dh's parents and brother on Friday (we won't see them for a month or so after and I don't want to tell them over the phone.) I am really nervous about it. Both because our first appointment isn't until next Tuesday, but also because I'm afraid if their reactions (despite owning our own house and living comfortably within our means, they don't think we make enough money).

Rant/rave/symptoms: my nausea is back yesterday and today a little more consistently. Eating a few crackers seems to help for a little bit but then it comes back. Trying to suck it up since we are on vacation, hoping I can make it through the aquarium today!

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment.
My friends and I would spend a week at my cottage eating junk food, boating and hanging out. I have so many good memories from around our nightly fires!
  • Week: 5w5d

What's new with baby (size, development): Still the Appleseed of my eye

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:
My husband and I are musicians, and today we had a guitarist friend come over and record our version of a song with me singing. We rewrote the words to announce baby. DH does video-editing too, so we will be compiling reactions from our close friends and family, putting them in the video over top of me singing, and using this as our public announcement in September.

    Rant/rave/symptoms:
Annnnd avocados are out. But eggs are in! Appleseed said no thanks to the first and yes, please to the second today!

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment.
I drove a Ford Festiva in high school, and occasionally I'd come out to find my car turned sideways in its spot, moved onto the lawn, or turned around completely. It was done by friends who thought it was hilarious. I roll my eyes now, but at the time it was really upsetting! Why do teenage boys have to be such idiots?!

That sounds fun! We live 6 hours from all our parents so are going to send them each a package with a note inside a cute box that says, "You are going to be grandparents!" I'm sure I will find something cute at hobby lobby to put it all together. On the package we are putting strict instructions about when to open it so that all three sets of grandparents will open it at the exact same time. (They all live in a small town together so if one checked the mail before the other they could spill the beans when they see eachother-DH's mom and my mom work together.) I'm sure we will be having a major face time party directly after with multiple i pads involved.

Week: 6w1d What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed is beginning to develop its lungs. What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I had my first appt today! It was a consult with my OB where I gave a urine sample to confirm pregnancy, got lots of blood drawn, and learned more about the process (frequency of appts, optional further testing, etc). I return on Monday for my ultrasound and an appt with a nurse practitioner for a physical, possibly more blood drawn, etc. Rant/rave/symptoms: I'm really not experiencing any symptoms right now other than full, sore breasts and fatigue. I've been taking 2-3 hours naps every day after work. I'm feeling very grateful and I'm crossing my fingers the nausea stays away until after my trip to Italy next week. Questions for the Group: GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment. I can't think of anything too exciting. I was a nanny after school and on breaks so I made a lot of cash to sock away. I loved adding my weekly pay to my savings account every week and watching it grow. I credit that job to allowing me to pay cash for grad school and buy a nice car after graduation. Edited for formatting. Not a fan of TB text box issues today!

What's new with baby (size, development): poppyseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:
Eating light healthy snacks about every 2-3 hours. It is helping keep my stomach feeling good, otherwise I begin to feel so sick I don't want to eat at all. Also getting ready for a trip to San Fransisco which has subsequently turned into a little 'baby moon.'

Rant/rave/symptoms: sore chest, soo tired and queezy stomach

Questions for the Group: Going to the dentist on Thursday. Is there anything I need to be aware of/ask about? (X-rays, cleaning solutions etc.)

GTKY: Share a memorable high school moment.
Eating dinner at DH's house for the first time. We lived in a very small town so my mom had taught all of the kids in town and knew them all... Except for my DH. He had gone to a catholic school out of town. So when I asked her she said no because she thought he was a differnt guy with the same name with a horrible reputation. We still laugh that I found the only guy in the whole town that she didn't know to start dating and later marry. (It really was just by chance.)

I had a cleaning when pregnant with DS and I told them I was refusing the x-Ray which they had no problem with. When I was a threatened m/c they put extra protection on my abdomen and it was thicker than normal.

Just tell them you're pregnant! :) Dental x-rays are safe during pregnancy, but personally I will be refusing them. Luckily I had some taken at a new dentist a month before I got KU so I don't think any will be needed from me. I was supposed to get a couple old fillings replaced the week I found out I was pregnant but I canceled that appointment. I don't feel comfortable having any dental work beyond regular cleanings while pregnant. When I googled this, I read that while fillings are safe to get during pregnancy, the second trimester is the best time for any dental work.

Tylenol does jack crack for me. Go into a steamy bathroom and just sit and breathe in the steam. You can use a little peppermint/eucalyptus oil to open up your sinuses - breathe it in, do one drop and mix with a carrier oil like coconut oil and rub on your sinuses.

Tylenol doesn't do anything for me either. A cold pack or damp cloth on the forehead usually gives me some relief, but I find the only way to get rid of a headache is sleep.

My favorite is L'Occitane Shea Butter hand lotion. It's pricey but a little bit goes a long way and it lasts for a very long time. They sell small tubes for $10 that are great for your purse but I think the large tube is most cost efficient. With 1-2x daily use, one big tube lasts 9-12 months for me.

So I did lots of reading yesterday but couldn't post... so here we go:
@lchingrn - I have done quite a bit of research and specific amino acid supplmentation is not suggested anywhere.. also what I have found is the suggestion against the use of supplement powders.  Now I think this really depends on how careful you are about your supplements and what the contain as it is not a very well regulated market.  I plan on still occasionally having a smoothie with my whey powder but I have carefully chosen this one for the lack of crap in it.  I do tend avoid soy but will have it fermented or in small amounts like here.  (also the soy free powder was crap!)

@smccorkill - We are telling the grandparents this Friday (First time they will be together since we got married!).  We have a meal planned at a local restaurant who specialising in local foraged food with a tasting menu, I have emailed ahead asking if we could bring a bottle of champagne from our wedding and we can't but they have offered a free toast instead with the tasting menu.  I have two nursery rhyme books which I still need to find a cute poem to write in and will give it to them with when the toast comes.

@meredithrobers66- First you may want to change your SN if it is your real name.  You know internet safety and creepers... can someone help and post how?   Secondly my DH was away when I had my first US at 7 weeks last week.  He just told me last night he was so nervous that something would be wrong, I would have a break down and he would have to find a way to get from Spain to England ASAP.  I am usually the one who is blowing things out of proportion so in a stupid way it was almost comforting to know that he was even worse than me for once.  It is scary but just remember statistics are on your side always, yes things can go wrong but there is always more of a chance that things will go right.

@Peachie89 - I am a straight up Coconut Butter or Coconut Oil kind of gal.  I will use anything those when desperate!  Coconut Oil is also anti-bacterial.
