Is it gonna be a struggle?

Re: Is it gonna be a struggle?

  • It's so hard making friends as an adult!

When I got together with my husband I moved to a new city to be with him. All of a sudden I had no friends around! I met my next door neighbour and became friends with her but we didn't connect really well until I got pregnant with my first (she already had a baby).

I found that after having my daughter that it became really easy to meet people! We'd walk to a playground and meet new people, or just walk on our street and stop and chat with people. We've since moved and my old
Neighbour is on our new street too which is awesome, plus our new neighbours were in a baby music class with us so that was a nice surprise.
We also have a play cafe that we go to and I will just strike up a conversation with whoever is there with a kid that my kid seems to like! You immediately have something in common when you meet another mom :)

See, this is what I'm really hoping for! Cause it does seem like once you're a mom it's easier to connect with other women with children. Heck, even just bringing the toddler I watch out in public more people talk to me than ever would if it were just me.

Oddly enough, I had the exact opposite experience with a neighbor. Our husbands were close friends, so of course we hung out and spent a decent bit of time together. Then, when I got pregnant she dropped me like a hot potato. Though, she had also had a miscarriage recently after trying for about a year and then I got pregnant on the first go, so I can see how it would be hard for her to be around me.
