My poor pup is hurt he isn't lifting his tail at all and is now walking really funny with his back legs. We made a vet appt for the AM. He's eating fine, seems fine, just won't lift his tail and walks very funny. The worst part is the vet is going to judge us so bad because with the baby being born we totally slacked on his brushing and he has a million matts. Ugh I hope he's ok and that this doesn't cost too much...we are so broke right now.

My random today is that I've reached a new low. I put a paper towel over LO so I don't drI p on her while I eat my lunch while breastfeeding. Not my proudest moment but I'm staaaarving
@SammeMotley I went to Founder's brewing website and they have a beer finder. I tried it out on a Little Rock zip code and got like 50 results of places where you can get Founders beer either on tap or for retail sale. Breakfast Stout is a seasonal tho, so you can't use it specifically for that brew, but some of the retailers will probably have a few still kicking around. Left Hand probably has a similar option on their website.
@dancegurl1118 oh no! maybe he just strained his back (they can tweak their backs just like we can, especially if they are super active). If so that usually gets better with some meds and rest / time. I hope it goes well at the vet and he feels better soon!
Apparently it is uncool to take a baby weighing less than 16 lbs swimming in our area because finding a swim Diaper smaller than that is proving more difficult than one would imagine which is crazy my sweetheart will be lucky to reach that this winter bless his adorable skinny soul.
You know how when you are a kid and you spend the whole day at the ocean in the surf... And you go to bed at night and you still feel like you are in the waves?
I listen to this baby boy, who I love dearly, cry throughout the day and then I hear phantom crying when I try to sleep.

Reusable is the way to go. Get a Charlie Banana size small. Worked awesome for DS1 and he was tiny.
@dancegurl1118 my dog (choc lab) once had a bout of what the vet called cold tail. He couldn't wag or move his tail, which is super concerning for a lab who normally wags all the time. It went away on its own after a while. Hope your pup feels better soon.
Sitting here pumping while watching DH and baby nap... Not cool since DH gets to sleep all night How is he even tired???? He programs all day at work. I know it's not his fault I have to pump but it doesn't make it easier
And what is up with the ap? It keeps crashing and I also lose updates
maybe ill just repost my birth announcement a week "late" XD that should fix it. although i think there were a couple that were still pregnant after me, @jesshrou and 2 usernames that i dont recognize at all.
Edit: fixed tag. I recognize her usename at least, not sure if she was a regular contributor though.

I thought this was just me! I wake up thinking I hear LO. Are we all just nuts from sleep deprivation?
So we think we figured out what it is with the dog. A few weeks ago a phantom pacifier went missing, and we think it's trying to make its way through his butt right now, because he screeches every time he poops. Surgery should be fun.

Ugh, that is horrible. Hope he recovers quick. And learned his lesson!

On another fun note, and seeing how I have no shame to post this...does anyone else's Virginia smell like something crawled up there and died? I don't have an infection (has my PP appointment two days ago) but am still bleeding a bit/have that yellow discharge. Is this just what it smells like to wear pads (haven't worn a pad with blood since I was 13 besides PP). But seriously. It smells terrible by the end of the day. Please tell me I'm not the only one..

@dancegurl1118 the smell changed back to normal discharge smell (although stronger, it didn't smell like actual death anymore) after my first period at 6 weeks. Does anyone know how long the yellow will continue? Almost 8 weeks and I'm SO TIRED OF PADS. I just want to wear pretty underwear again..
Does anyone else have an LO that sleeps with their eyes open? It's so creepy.
DH and DS both do, but I don't remember it this early. They're both sleep walkers and talkers so I'm guessing I'll have a house full of nighttime zombies. Both have night terrors, too, so that will be fun if there's three.

Mine flutters her eyes open sometimes and they are rolled back into her head ... Super creepy!
@dancegurl1118 Yes....unfortunately once my DH leaned down to give DD a kiss, and I was sitting with my legs criss-crossed holding her, he makes a face at me and says 'is that you??' :-S ( yes. Yes it is. I'll be glad when they give me the OK to wear tampons again. Pads are icky.
My random...I hate on social media the constant need for other people to shove down my throat that THEIR LO sleeps all thru the night, saying 'oh that must be hard. I'm blessed to have a LO that sleeps thru the night, well, he sleeps most of the time anyways.' Congrats to you, now get off my post and stop bragging. Makes me feel stabby. :-w
spent last weekend with friends, and the husband is a NICU doctor now, with pediatrician training. he said like 90% of moms lie about their kids. even to doctors but especially to other moms. examples he gave were sleeping through the night (ahem, @samantham0305 !) and moms who say their kid has been walking since he was a year...but the 15 month old keeps falling when he toddles across the doctor's office.
made me laugh. and another good reminder not to compare!
I just took a nap and in the middle, I THINK I heard the dog throwing up in the living room but I reached over with my foot and felt her on the bed so now idk and I'm afraid to get up to look
@mellymar what is your professional opinion on this...so they took an X-ray and did a digital exam. No pacifier or mass seen or felt on digital exam. Small calcifications seen on base of spine by tail, said it could be arthritis. Gave NSAID for pain...he's 5! And a small breed. Pain unimproved with 1 dose of NSAID, now having trouble jumping on couch. Tail still hanging and having issues with back legs still. Arthritis doesn't go from 0-60 in one day, right? They said "see how he does for 2 weeks on the meds". TWO WEEKS IN PAIN?! I feel like there's something else going on.

@dancegurl1118 the calcification could mean some arthritis but I would tend to agree I would expect that more to NOT go from 0-60 in a day. He still sounds to me like the way dogs act who have tweaked their backs. They would walk slowly, stiffly, and not use their back ends as much (rear legs / tails and be reluctant to jump or pivot). Regarding him being 5 and a small breed, tho... Doesn't matter much. Some smaller breeds even get arthritis earlier than larger dogs.
He may feel better after a couple of doses of the NSAID. But I certainly wouldn't let him keep his current level of discomfort for two weeks, no. I might give it today and tomorrow, and would definitely call Friday if it doesn't seem like the NSAID is helping. By then it should be visible if its helping a little. And of course if he gets worse I would just call right away. Make sure he rests! When he begins to feel better he will want to be more active, but they will overdo it and hurt themselves again, so make sure he rests.
I agree it sounds like more than just arthritis. Sudden onset strong arthritis in the heat of summer? Mmm, sounds unlikely. That old saw for moms about trusting their instincts - "if you just have that feeling something is wrong" applies to pets, too. You know him best. In your place I would try what the vet suggested for a bit, but I would call Friday if I wasn't satisfied. I wouldn't want my pet to go thru the weekend hurting. I would call tomorrow if he appears that he is hurting more than he is today. Depending on your vets personality, they may not give you more meds or something stronger unless you ask tho, so don't be afraid to ask for something else if you think he needs it.
I am actually having trouble moving mine to breastfeed and its hard to do thing for my three year old because this baby can't be held in on hard. DS says the same thing and he exercises for a living so it not just me. I have a floppy newborn that's the size of a 6-9 month old!
@smellyvirginia . . .someone should nab that username. It's the pads. The foam ones are particularly vile. Can you guys switch to just wearing old underwear and changing it a few times a day? Gross but it worked when my discharge was light enough.
