  I'm so sorry for your loss! In my family (we're Jewish) it's common to use the first initial to honor a relative - my first and middle initials are both for family members. You could pick an M name to honor your father.

  I'm sorry for your loss. I think Charlene is a nice female, Idk if it is the exact version, version of Charles. Charlotte is wonderful too. My father passed away when I was one, and my older cousin was very close to him. She and I are due around the same time and she has asked me to name her potential daughter after my dad. His name was Darren, so if she has a girl, she will name her Darryn. I think your idea is wonderful. I hope it all works out for you .

  Sorry for your loss, OP. I also think Martine or Martina would be a nice sentiment to your dad. Or maybe even Marlene?
