May get induced wed. Freaking out. Anyone had to be induced??

today was my 2nd time going to the doctors to check fluids around the baby and both times the fluid was too low, doctor recommended drinking plenty of water for which I have been doing but their is a high possibility I will de induced this wed. Bc of the low fluid. I just want to know for those who were induced, how was the experience and process with this???
I'm just very scared that process of going into labour won't happen too naturally, and of any complications with induction or you're thoughts about it?

I was induced and all they had to do was break my water and my body did the rest. It wasn't bad or scary. I was induced because of GD and they broke my water after antibiotics because I was also group b strep positive.

I'm getting induced as we speak, they just inserted cervidil around my cervix to help thin it, it's like a flat tampon with medicine on it (it hurt so bad !) and it has to sit there for 12 hours overnight and then in the morning they will start me on pit . I'm 38 weeks with pre-e and my cervix had barely started to dialate ... Sooo that's all I know so far haha

I was induced with my first b/c my water broke and I wasn't in labor. I responded really well to the pitocin and had a great labor and delivery. Will be induced early with my second because she's so small (7th percentile) but very healthy (I make small babies). Looking forward to it, actually. I'm done being preggers and being induced a week early on a schedule when I know my OB will be on call is reassuring.

My baby just turned a day old a few hours ago:) I got induced Saturday due to low fluids as well. Took 16 hrs to get to 1 cm as I had nothing going on down there. They used some medicine to ripen the cervix and help to dialate( sorry don't remember the name). They had to give me 3 doses, one every 6 hrs. It took 5 hrs to go from 1 to 5 cm, and my water broke naturally. After that, it took 40 minutes to go from 5 to fully dialated and only 45 minutes of pushing to get her out! No pitocin no epidural needed!
With induction, it does take a really long time.. And since we started in the morning I was awake for 24 hrs because of the contractions that started around midnight- I got some morphine so I could sleep a little once contractions got mild, as I was exhausted!!
Good luck and don't rush the process- they said it can take up to 24 hrs with the vaginally inserted meds to ripen the cervix. Trust your body and rest rest rest!!!

Exactly how my iduction started. Then doctor came in the morning, broke my water and started pitocin. By 1 pm I really could feel them and was so tired so I opted for an iv med cause I didn't want to get an epidural before I was 5 or 6 cm dilated. A while later After some sleep I needed an epidural before I knew it, it was time to push!

I've been induced twice now, having my 2nd son yesterday. Honestly I am so OCD, I think it may have calmed me. I really did not want to induce this one, but knowing that I would be somewhere and in control of everything going on helped. Best advice; sleep when possible. Its not easy to relax nerves, but take as many naps as you can get because it is a long process.

I got induced Sunday at about 1 cm and it is a long process do be patient. You are in great hands with your doctor and mostly the nurses. I got an epi which really helped me a lot. When I got to 8 cm and further it became more painful but all totally manageable. Don't be afraid though--- it's worth it in the end.

I must add regarding complications from inducing....after they broke my water I did develop an infection which led to a fever so I had to take Tylenol to reduce it. This fever was transferred to baby so after he was born he needed an iv. He had no fever and it totally fine--- but that was my only real complication. That and when you induce at least for my doctor you can't eat so make sure you eat something substantial before you go in!

I will say I was only in labor for 8 hours total but also got an epidural and after that I progressed really quickly. So it wasn't bad at all

Anyone know how a doctor determines HOW they will induce you? Why the meds if they can try to break the waters first and so forth? I hope that if I have to be induced they'd start with the most natural method first before introducing medicine! I'm 38+4 but my doctor has already brought up the possibility though we haven't had the discussion until my 39w apt.

I was already dialated to 2 cm and my cervix was thin so my MD thought my body just needed a little jump start. I had a co-worker who was induced and not progressed at all and they did the pill to soften the cervix, then a catheter and then pitocin as she wasn't progressing on her own.

This is me too except baby is being induced this time because I have GD.

I'm getting induced tomorrow because I'm passed my due date with zero progress and a very big baby. I'm hoping everything goes well, if no progress by Thursday morning my doctor wants me to have a c section. I'm very nervous either way I just want a healthy baby!!!

I was induced as I was over 41 weeks. I was worried too as I had hoped for a natural birth... They started me on Cervadil overnight too. The next morning they gave me Cytotec, which is a tiny little pill that is inserted vaginally. It's intended use is for ulcers, but it's used off-label for abortion in the first trimester and also used off-label for induction at full term, as it helps ripen the cervix and also causes contractions. They wanted to give me a few rounds of Cytotec every few hours and then start Pitocin (not at all what I wanted), but about three hours after the first dose of Cytotec, my usual Braxton-Hicks started getting a little closer together and a little stronger, and so they had to wait... (They can't give Cytotec if you have too many contractions per minute.) Ultimately my body just took over what the meds had started, and from that point on my labor progressed naturally. Because I was no longer using any meds, they then agreed to remove the IV and left me with just a heplock. I delivered naturally with no Pitocin and no Epidural or anything else after about 6.5 hours of labor, and baby is healthy and happy! So induction can lead to a happy ending, even if you don't want meds the whole way.

With my induction (also low amnio), I checked in at 6:30a and had an IV placed to begin a Pitocin drip. I was well-effaced, but barely dilated, so I was not given Cervidil. About an hour (?) later, my OB attempted to break my water using an amnio hook, but my body was not cooperative. Pitocin continued and during midday another OB in the practice was able to break my water. Contractions intensified and my son was delivered vaginally at 9:30p.
My only "complaint" was that I felt tied to the bed. Any time I tried to stand, the fetal monitor would lose signal and alarm. I chose to get an epidural due to being limited in mobility, which also meant a urinary catheter. I am glad I chose this (allowing the monitors to stay on and utilizing the epidural for pain management rather than walking around to cope with pain) as my son's oxygen did drop at one point after my water was broken and I was placed on a mask for 5 min and positioned on my side.
I was also scared for an induction, but I was excited to meet our baby. I have a doctor that I trust with total confidence, was a FTM but am in a medically inclined field of work, and have a great support system in my husband and family. Those factors helped ease my nerves significantly! Good luck to you!

I was induced at 37 weeks due to PIH. They inserted the cervidil at 6pm, which does hurt a lot while they are inserting it, which ripens the cervix. I was already 2cm and 70% so they thought about skipping the cervidil but decided it would be better to do it anyway. At around midnight I woke up with some painful cramping which they said was just my cervix thinning out and gave me pain meds. That lasted for a couple hours and they gave me another dose which didn't do a thing. I was having pretty bad cramping, but they weren't really registering in the monitor so I didn't think they were contains. Around 6am, the cramps were hitting me about every minute and I was hurting a lot so we called the nurses in. They checked me and I was at 6cm and 100%, so my body had gone into labor on its own with the cervidil and ended up not needing the pitocin. I got an epidural around 7, which is the most magical thing ever and fell asleep. They broke my water around 8am when I was 8cm, and by 10am I was ready to go. They had me do a couple practice pushes and they were already able to see her head. They had me stop while they got all the nurses in the room and everything ready to go. I pushed for 3 minutes and my baby was born.
Even with the pain from the contractions, I couldn't have been happier with how everything went. It was for the most part east and painless and not nearly as bad as I as expecting.

@BerlyTown almost the exact same happened to me! I was induced at 38 weeks though due to iugr. Had cytotec for 4 hrs and my body pretty much took over for itself. Was on pit for only like 20 minutes and my water broke on its own. I had intense labor for like 3 hrs until delivery and pushed for like 20 minutes with no pain meds. I'm one of the lucky ones I know, but smooth inductions do exist!
