Hello everyone! Was curious to see if any of us are throwing a gender reveal party for our December baby or do something real cute to reveal the sex? With this being my first I'm having a small gathering with close family to reveal the sex of our baby. We are doing the normal cake cutting. If you have pictures of your cake or what you did I would love to see!
Re: Anyone actually doing or did a gender reveal party???
I get this is a heated topic, and each to there own for sure, perhaps we can all just agreed to disagree on what to call it and help the OP with reveal ideas and cakes like she originally has asked?
OP. Have you tried googling or looking up on Pinterest gender reveal cakes? I get a lot of inspiration from there when I need to come up with new designs, but make sure you book a cake designer asap as it is wedding season and many could be booked already.
Sorry your original discussion was bombarded with soup boxers. Good luck mom to be:)
sorry for "soup boxing." It's something I feel passionate about.
Back to your topic: I'm going to do a small sex reveal next Monday with just family. I'm torn between a balloon pop and cupcakes. I don't want to spend much and I've been on Pinterest. You can easily make your own cupcakes by either using red velvet or blue velvet cake mix or cutting a small hole, fill with pink or blue icing, and ice the top a white color. There's a balloon boutique in town that does adorable sex reveal balloons, but they are closed on Mondays and Monday will be the day we have anatomy scan and reveal.
Yes, there have been numerous topics on this board where others have strongly voiced their opinion on which term they believe is best to use. Other people will continue to use gender for reasons that are political, religious, or simply because they would prefer to describe it as gender, especially when they know that what they are describing is the same thing "with near certainty".
My point is: the debate has been discussed numerous times and no one is changing their minds at this point. We really don't need the politically correct police swooping in over and over again. The original poster was just wanting to see and hear cute ideas for gender reveals. That's all this thread should be about.
@magburt I never heard of a company actually do the balloon reveal so that's pretty cool! I always thought those were a DIY.
I love the balloon pop idea! Could you maybe pick up the balloons on Sunday? Cupcakes are
great to, I'm a cake designer so I see so many cakes/cupcakes go out for reveal parties, I find pink or blue filling works best, keeps a bit of surprise for your guests until they bite in! Are you finding out the sex at the anatomy scan or are you having it written down and finding out with your guests?
We'll also have 2 pairs of blue and 2 pairs of pink or purple booties ready to use for the shoot.
We'll then send out a reaction shot from the balloons to family and then make a more formal social media announcement with the other photos.
DH wants to find out at the scan, secretly I do too.
I would love some advice if any of you ladies have any for me =]
Most of my family is out of state. My mom lives in Kentucky and she's really excited to know, how could I make a gender reveal cute for just her? My dad lives 20 min from me so I'll prob do a gender reveal at his house with just a few family members and a bbq lol I guess I'm really into bbq's =P then the rest of the world will find out through fb with gender reveal photos
Our theme is Guns vs Glitter. I'm a girly-girl who loves all things that sparkle, while DH is an avid hunter/gun collector, so we're trying to meld our tastes in a way that works. We're not really going to decorate, just keep it low-key. However I do have a chalkboard sign from our wedding two years ago, that I'll write the theme on. Then we'll probably have the family vote for what they think we're having. So I'm going to make 2 dozen cupcakes - one dozen "girl" made of chocolate with pink frosting and a chocolate tiara on top, wrapped in a pink glitter cupcake holder, and one dozen "boy" made of vanilla with blue frosting and chocolate gun on top, wrapped in a blue camo cupcake holder. The filling inside the cupcakes will tell the family if we're having a boy or girl. I'm going to make a strawberry compote filling if it's a girl, we can't decide what to use for a boy. My MIL just says to use the blue buttercream to fill the insides, but I think that's a little boring. I like the idea of a peanut butter ganache, but I don't think that will taste very nice in a vanilla cupcake, nor would a blueberry compote taste fantastic in a chocolate cupcake. Looks like I still have some thinking to do if we have a boy!!! Pity some family members hate chocolate, it would make life so much easier!! LOL!
Afterwards we're going to pass around one of those personalized books called "what's my name?" to announce the baby name. DH really wants to announce the name (I cannot talk him out of it) but I really don't want to hear any comments from his family, and I think a personalized book will stop them from saying anything. We'll see!
Can't wait to see everyone's pictures and/or plans!!
