TRIPLETS!!!!!

So we had our first sonogram at almost 9 weeks and to our surprise there were 3 little hearts beating! This is my first pregnancy and we never did any sort of fertility treatments, no IVFs, NOTHING! Just naturally occurring triplets! We are so shocked, scared, yet excited! Anyone else out here with 3 on the way?

Well I was wondering why I was so big for just 8 weeks and constantly hungry too! I keep waking up every few hours at night starving! I thought maybe there could be 2 but definitely did not suspect 3!

Little known fact, but occasionally you can have identical multiples (monozygotic) that are in their own amniotic sacs with their own placentas and chorions. It's not common, but it does happen.

Edit: Actually, totally common according to this. Here's hoping for identicals for everyone

@CicchettiFamily Thanks for asking! I had no symptoms my first month. Was very nauseous the second month and sleepy. So far, I've had two migraines where the headaches got so bad that I threw up and dry-heaved all day (I used to get them before I was every pregnant too every once in awhile). Those two migraines were the worst because as we all know, Tylenol just doesn't really cut it. I think they were not only brought on my hormones, but also stress and not resting enough. Other than that I feel pretty good. I'm already in maternity clothes as the doctor says my uterus is already at 4 months even though I'm only at 9.5 weeks! I am trying to embrace these feeling good days because I know I'm going to be really really big and preggo soon...definitely scared and not sure what to expect! Looking forward to meeting the high risk fetal specialist next month! Hope your pregnancy is going well too!

Congratulations! That's so exciting (and terrifying)! I hope you have a smooth pregnancy. When I worked as an RN in NICU, I had the privilege of taking care of a couple sets of spontaneous triplets -- even a set of identical girls. So sweet

I can only imagine the shock factor that comes along with that news!
