  • My little dude has diaper rash too and I've been alternating between A&D ointment and desitin every diaper change because he poops a lot and after a couple of days it's seemed to improve drastically , I never really had that problem with my daughter . Hope this helps !!!

  • We've started doing the Eat/Wake/Sleep schedule a couple days ago, and I am in love! I feel like I finally have some control in my life again and I'm not my child's slave. Of course, it's never exact. We feed her early if she's hungry, let her sleep longer if she's tired, etc. But it's amazing. I highly suggest it to any super organized people out there (like myself).

ETA: She almost 5 weeks old.
    What is this?! Enlighten me
  • I have a motherhood top, a target top and a Wal Mart top. The Wal Mart top is the only one I'd ever wear. It's like they are the only ones that actually thought about nursing comfort.

Babywise method... It's a book, and a pretty quick read. It is basically getting baby in a routine. My LO is 3.5 weeks today and we somewhat have started following the routine.

@katyertlHere's a website to a pretty good explanation of what it is. Pretty much, baby wakes up to eat, then you do activity time, then put them to sleep after a certain amount of time. Then repeat next time they wake up, and continue this throughout the day. The only difference is at night, where you skip the activity time.

I really like that website. They have a lot of good advice on getting your baby to sleep better.

  • Just came here to complain about how much my c section incision still hurts and 22 days PP. It's my second c section so I know the deal. But goodness.... :(

How can we do this if I have to keep LO upright for 30 mins after feeding or she will spit up? I can't even move her from my chest for that long or she does spit up every single time. Can we still do activities do you think after the 30 mins?
  • How long do your feedings take? I would feed her, then do activities that keep her upright. You just want to keep her awake. Maybe read a book, take her outside, or sing songs with hand motions (like itsy bitsy spider). Then with any left over time do floor time and tummy time. Our feedings only take 15 minutes though (formula baby), so we have plenty of time after to do activities before we need to put her to sleep.

My guy, too. We prop him up against our bent knees and talk to him and show him his toys. I wonder if that would count as Activity.

From what I understand - anything that is keeping them awake & stimulated is activity! I've been trying this, but am struggling with the nap after activity. She seems to either want to be awake for 2-3 hours after feeding or pass out after feeding. Maybe she'll even out if I keep trying.

My girls are 8weeks tomorrow, and we've been indirectly following the eat, wake, sleep (Never knew it was an actual thing) and they're pretty much sleeping through the night! The whole past week they've slept in 6-7 hr stretches! It's been awesome!

I know there was a diaper discussion before (not sure if it was J15 or M15, but either way I can't find it) but now that they're sleeping through the night they've been wetting through their diapers. My SIL's mom works for a wholesaler and gets us diapers at wholesale cost (it's like 200 diapers for $20!! Score since we need double for the twins!) and they're fine in daytime but not nighttime. Huggies just do not work on my girls, so thoughts on the best absorbency diapers?

We have had leak issues with Huggies and Luvs. Prefer Pampers swaddlers!
  • I have had issues with Huggies and Luvs as far as leaking with my oldest daughter. I only bought Pampers with my 2nd daughter and never had any issues. Now with my son he's only in pampers

  • For daytime we use Pampers swaddlers but for overnight we use their Baby Dry (overnight) brand - it's great!
  • LO is 10 days old and today was the first time she was awake for a long stretch in the morning without any cat naps, so I decided to put her in her nursery crib for the first time vs the pack n play in the living room or bassinet in our bedroom. She slept in there for over an hour! The bonus was that DS went down for his nap shortly after and I had 30 minutes all to myself. Bliss. :x

We plan on transferring LO to her room at night just after the one month mark. We waiting until DS was 3 mo old, this time I'm more eager to have my personal space back so DD has to sleep solo sooner.

We use swaddlers from pampers or honest company during the day for diapers and pampers baby dry at night. Works great for us. She sleeps about 6 hrs straight and does very well. Hope that at helps. We no don't change the baby dey for 9 hrs and it's fine!
  • After a very hard day yesterday and constant fussiness and screaming, DD slept from 1am-5am this morning. Longest she's slept! She's 3 weeks old today and her cord came off this week! It's the little things that really make me happy. Hang in there for everyone who has a LO not sleeping. >:D< :x
  • @mellymar woo!! That's big! <:-P
  • had my first post labour poop today.
not as bad as i thought, but still not ideal.
  • Huggies size 1 diapers are on my shit list. The newborn size worked great, she pees through the 1's daily. Thank god we only had one package of them (we were trying out all the brands). But now she can't wear her cute outfit :((
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • @dancegurl1118 how old is your LO? I bought size 1 yesterday but when I opened the box they look huge.
  • @mvargas12 she's 10.5lb. We started her in the 1's at about 9lbs. We thought they looked so huge and then she had a blowout up her back in the newborn size and we realized they were basically like low-riders on her and the 1's were perfect. We like pampers and honest company but I wouldn't use honest because of the price. It really varies by baby and they're leg and body size etc but she stays dry in every other brand besides Huggies with the same amount of pee.

  • @dancegurl1118 it's interesting that you say that, DD has been having blowouts up her back as well. Maybe I'll give the 1s a try after all. Noooooo that means she's getting big :((
  • That's funny we are size 1 huggies at 11 pounds they are great, although he will soon be in 2's they are gettin snug
  • @JessHeppell that is seriously the biggest post partum accomplishment. It all gets better after the first one!
    Coffee Bean Born 6/13/15.
    2nd round exp 8/20/18.
    Meow.
  • Our kid has been in 1s since birth. Hated luvs and pampers but love huggies. I have heard huggies work better on boys, though.

I prefer huggies for my boy as well. Pampers actually seemed to stick to him.
  • LO must be going thru a growth spurt or something (the timing is right, he is right between 2 and 3 weeks old). He will not settle for anything except boob. He will accept a bottle, but tends to spit up shortly into it, or even if he finishes he won't go to sleep afterwards like usual, he will space out for a few minutes and then start to cry again. He'll fall asleep on the boob, but then shortly wake himself up and be calm for a few minutes, then want back on the boob! He will not accept a pacifier, and the swaddle / shush / sway stuff works for maybe a few minutes and then he is crying again. And wants more boob. Since he doesn't like laid back / reclining bf position, and the side lie makes me hold my lower arm awkwardly so I reserve it for when we are truly in bed, all i have are the cross body and football positions, which require me to sit up in a certain position all day. My back and shoulders are killing me from not being able to switch positions much.

Ugh, and DH goes back on duty for two days starting tomorrow. Waaahhhh! X_X

  • @mellymar Exhausting but it will probably really help your supply if you let him nurse as much as he wants.

Yup. I have been. It is exhausting. But I thought exactly the same as you. And its only supposed to last a few days, so I'll put in the effort. Not like I got much choice to do different anyways! Lol
