Week: 6 (lmp) or maybe 7 (by ov date.)

What's new with baby (size, development): Still cooking... I hope.  Ultrasound in a little over a week.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:  I switched PNVs from Rainbow Light to Honest Company and I immediately felt more energetic.  HC has more B vitamins than RL.  I also started taking a DHA supplement.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I now have random urges to vomit.  Morning  and late afternoon seems to be the most queasy times for me.

Questions for the Group:  Whats for dinner?  I just had to make my menu for the week for grocery shopping.  Last night we had chicken, potatoes and kale.  Tonight we're having pizza on the grill.

GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want? A Fisher Price jumperoo.  With my first kiddo I had an exer-saucer and man was that thing loud.
  • Good luck @ACleanLife24 !! Can't wait to hear how many babes are cookin in there!

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed. Woo!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: not much right now. I'm switching jobs and this is my last week at the current hospital I work at and I picked up a ton of hours.

Rant/rave/symptoms: super exhausted but that could be bc I'm working a lot. I'm also nauseous off and on.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want? I have most things already since this is number two but I want a packnplay this time.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I dreamed I started bleeding and miscarried last night. That was scary :(
Questions for the Group: none, again
GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want?  (Doesn't have to be practical) I got most of the stuff I really wanted for DD. We borrowed a lot as well, but those were all items I'm not picky about. At this point, I'm looking forward to getting some pregnancy bras :). Can't find those from last time around and I need them...

  • Oh I do have a question: can you recommend any fun pregnancy/baby movies? Last time I was pregnant, I watched "Baby Mama" and I really loved that one. (Wanted to rewatch it last night but Netflix Belgium doens't have it). "What to expect when you're expecting" was entertaining as well.

    Week: 5w 6d

What's new? Last day of Appleseed!

What am I doing? Yesterday I went looking online for winter maternity clothes on clearance- I didn't but any because it feels too early.

Rant/rave/symptoms: peed on another wondfo today...definitely darker this time!! Also sore boobs, mild side aches, so so tired and last night I was so crabby and even teared up for no reason- poor DH was scared.

Question for the group- got a packet from the clinic about first tri elective testing (for downs, trisomy 18 and heart defects) in place of second tri quad test. Trying to decide with DH if we should do or not? What's everyone else's thought? The only reason I would is to get an extra ultrasound- I am shameless....

GTKY: honestly I haven't even looked at baby stuff- maybe I would say a new crib mattress? We have a really nice crib/dresser set that my sister and I used as babies but it's been passed around a lot and I want a fresh mattress.

Edited bc baby needs a mattress not a mistress...

Trying to decide with DH if we should do or not? What's everyone else's thought? The only reason I would is to get an extra ultrasound- I am shameless....
That depends very much on what you would do with the info. If a baby with Downs would be unwelcome by any means, it would obviously be interesting to know. Bear in mind that trisomy 18 and 13 are not viable anyway, so knowing early might be an advantage (or not. I know a mom who terminated the pregnancy because of tri18 and now wishes she'd let things run their course, even with a certainty of an unhappy ending).

Personally, I'd rather opt out of testing. I feel that with the knowledge I'd get, things would be in our hands and whatever choice we'd make would have downsides. I'd rather not have that responsibility and just see what faith throws our way. I also think it would be easier to come to terms with the special needs from a baby we can see, smell and feel, it would be easier to love them. DH on the other hand insists on knowing. Knowledge is power, he wants to be prepared. Also, if the baby has a heart condition (which babies with Down often do), prenatal surgery is an option.

Also bear in mind that the new (expensive) bloodtest they have provides 99% certainty, but if you're talking about the older testing (ultrasound + older bloodtest + risk analysis based on info about you), it only provides odds. You'll hear something along the line "you have a 1 in 50 chance of having a baby with Downs", after which more testing and more hard decisions are required, and it will take some weeks before you know for sure what's going on. This will be a hard time, even though in this example you'd have a 98% chance of things turning out just fine.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Just trying to eat well, excersise, and taking prenatals

Rant/rave/symptoms: none, yet. I have heard from multiple people to enjoy this little window I have that I know I am pregnant and don't feel like crap....lol.....because pregnancy symptoms WILL find me..... :)

Questions for the Group:  4 weeks, with your first baby, are there things I should already be looking at buying? Or should we just keep hoarding as much $$ away as we can so we can go on a "shopping spree" later?
GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want?  (Doesn't have to be practical) I don't know.....I haven't even started looking at baby items yet.....Any "must have" suggestions from veteran mothers?

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed is forming its liver.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Trying to remember to take my fish oil pill daily as my prenatal doesn't have DHA.

Rant/rave/symptoms: So grateful I haven't had morning sickness yet. I am curious to see when that eventually kicks in. I'm selfishly hoping it waits until week 9 after my vacation.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want? (Doesn't have to be practical) A fantastic stroller.

Personally, I will be proceeding with any type of testing. I would prefer to know for a variety of reasons. I think there was a recent thread on this in either First Tri or Feb BMB (actually I bet all BMBs have lots of thoughts on this).

FYI your crib is not safe for a baby. There have been a lot of changes and laws re: crib safety since we were babies. :) I don't have any specifics to offer, though, so consult Google!
  • Thank you for your input and concern @kristen712 I have done lots of research on the crib and it is solid wood, no drop sides and the slats are within the safe width. This crib has been through 5 babies some even recently.

GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want?  (Doesn't have to be practical) A noise machine. its a god send. my DD who is 19 months still uses her every single night and nap. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing one.
  • Good morning ladies !

Our Sweet Daughter is sick today , we have an appointment at 11 so I hope we can get her all cleared up soon

Things I am really excited for (I can't pick one) double stroller and new video baby monitors for DD and new little Blip.

New with baby: Still a poppyseed. So little!

Something I'm doing to get ready for baby: working on cleaning up my diet, eating cleaner and healthier. More fruits/veggies and trying to cut back on processed foods.

Symptoms: I've been so tired everyday. Usually I am a night owl and want to stay up late, but lately I have been so happy to lay down at the end of the day. DD's toddler tantrums don't help the exhaustion.

    Question for the group: None

GTKY: We already have most of what we need, but I have a double jogger on my want list and a new baby monitor. We have an Infant Optics monitor that is glitchy and sometimes freezes or randomly turns off in the middle of the night. It's also wouldn't be good for monitoring two rooms, which is what I will need come March.

They have not prescribed it. The nurse was very unenthusiastic and said its a good start. I (and i know better) googled the average progesterone levels and physicians like to see it between 16-18. I have noticed that progesterone supplements are quite common. I'm a worry wart ever since my MC in April and just want to do everthing in my power to make sure this one sticks.

i asked this question on Canadian mom board as well and hoping to get more info here.i am from Ontario. what did your doctor do when you informed them about the pregnancy. I informed my doctor 2 weeks ago and all they did was take urine sample and order first scan which was at 5 weeks 2 day and we couldn't see anything as it was too early. i read other moms experience and they have their beta and progesterone done and i am not sure i should get the blood work first or not, should i call my doctor and ask for it? she set me up with my first prenatal apt at 8 weeks and she advised she will get the blood work then. i feel that's too late. i need something to ease my mind since scan didn't show anything.

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed still 5w2d - My 5w6d milestone is coming up and I'm starting to get nervous (very first pregnancy stopped growing at 5w5d - that milestone gets me every time.  But symptoms are trucking right along.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Just bought a butt-load (oh yes, pun totally intended) of diapers - maybe jumping the gun a little, but you know what, it's all good - watch this baby will be a girl who will need Huggies rather than all the Pampers (banking on both of my boys body types with this new one.
Rant/rave/symptoms: My husband is extra attracted to me during pregnancy...I'm extra cranky during pregnancy (and feel disgusting)....I definitely heard an "Oh, I see it's starting already" comment last night :(

You definitely can buy the inserts separately.  I've also heard you can role up a swaddle blanket and it will do the same thing - way cheaper since we'll have a ton of those lying around.

Our family of 5 is complete!!  Love our boys!

  • What's new with baby (size, development):
Nothing I can tell. I hit 5 weeks and apparently Timtam has a spinal cord now. That's great! So as of now I have a tiny tunicate in me. :)

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:
Just made my first appointment to see an OB. I've never done that before.

    Rant/rave/symptoms:
Well, my husband is stressing out, does that count?

GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want?  A baby wrap to carry the new kid in. The idea of wearing my baby appeals to the lazy side of me. Just put 'em on and go!

  • Week: 4+3

What's new with baby (size, development): poppyseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Trying to watch what a eat, thinking of names!

Rant/rave/symptoms: Nausea, extremely tired, headaches, I forget how crazy stressful the first few weeks are, every cramp, every odd feeling, every wipe(tmi)

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want? (Doesn't have to be practical) I really want a new diaper bag.  This is my 3rd and my last diaper bag went caput a few months ago (but lasted me almost 4 years) hoping to get a new one!

  • Good luck on your ultrasound @ACleanLife, but I'm confused how you are 6w5d and in the March group? I'm 6w1d and due March 3rd. What's your due date?

For all 3 of my pregnancies I didn't go until 7 or 8 weeks, where they do a transvaginal(sp?) ultrasound. I think that's pretty common, it sucks though because it just adds to the stress of being pregnant and the unknown!  @hope4girl

  • Week: 6w1d

What's new with baby (size, development): Baby is a little sweet pea! Another app says it's a chocolate chip :)

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Just praying and praying the baby stays healthy and growing strong, too early for me to feel comfortable doing anything else to get ready.

Rant/rave/symptoms: SUPER fatigued...more like hit by a train, exhausted. Also, peeing a million times a night!

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: What is your must have one baby item you want?  (Doesn't have to be practical) I really want the 4moms Mamaroo, my bestie has one and it saved her during the first few months. We have an old swing that my DD didn't really like.

I ovulate later in the cycle but the NHS has dated me March 4th due but are still counting me since LMP... (and honestly I would have been the last to join the Feb board and there was a lot going down there already)

  • @ACleanLife Ah, gotcha! I may join the Feb board too since I'm due the 3rd, and with my first pregnancy I went at 38 weeks. Maybe this one will actually make it til 40 though!
