  • Week:  6+4

What's new with baby (size, development): A Blueberry with a mouth and tongue (although as  someone who comes from a family that farmed blueberries I am curious as to which size of a blueberry as they vary)

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:  I have created a digital index of what I have bought for baby since I have to hide it in the loft from DH bc he said no spending! (its MY spending money so there)... the pictures include place, price and age so I don't buy double.  It also has been helpful to learn what is a "good price" and what is not.
    image

Rant/rave/symptoms: not nausea but no appetite ATM... I got plenty of extra padding so I am not worried for the baby but I got a lot of food in my fridge to get through!

    Questions for the Group: nada

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have?  I blog, research nutritional studies etc, cook a lot, and I would like to think I am crafty but I am better at planning at being crafty (the management type)

What's new with baby (size, development): Poppyseed. And chance of baby sticking is over 75% today!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Right now, it's all about taking care of DD who has been sick since Monday and keeps on having fever. She acted a bit more energetic this morning though, about which I'm happy.

Rant/rave/symptoms: Not in a good place right now. I hate to see DD sick. DH has lots of work today and is not feeling well either. I still have my UTI (the antibiotics make my pee fluorescent!). And I really, really, really want to finish my schoolwork. It's not that much work anymore, but I need to find the time to do it. I want to get it done, so I can stop stressing about it and concentrate on my growing family.

Questions for the Group: none today.

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? I volunteer for a hotline. I also love playing boardgames. I'd really like to join a choir/a capella group, but I don't have the time, also because I work 1-2 nights a week. I also study social work, does that count as a hobby, since it's not my job?

    What's new: my little Appleseed

What am I doing? Just reading up on the bump week by week about size, symptoms and tests etc.

Rants/raves/symptoms: boobs... Very tired all week. In the afternoons I get sleepy and by the time I eat dinner I feel like I could fall asleep at 6 pm. By 8 my eyes are drooping. I thought I was just regular tired but I definitely thinks it's more than that now since I have been getting 8+ hours of sleep!

Questions for the group: I am having lunch with a girlfriend today- I'm feeling like I might tell her about baby. I told her a lot about our TTC journey and she did say she wanted me to tell her right away. We are close but I wouldn't say she's my best friend, however she's had three children and I feel like I need someone in my everyday life to talk to (besides DH who doesn't know anything about babies). I don't think she'd tell anyone except maybe her DH and they are not friends with anyone else we know really. Should I risk telling her?

GTKY: hobbies? Well I used to exercise a ton but I've been feeling lazy (worry about overdoing it and so tired!) and I have a garden.

  • Week: 6.1

What's new with baby (size, development): baby looks like a little sea monkey.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: trying to exercise everyday and eat healthy.

Rant/rave/symptoms: ugh I have had much worse morning sickness this pregnancy (I had almost no symptoms with my first). Now if I don't choke down crackers literally as soon as my eyes open I feel like I am going to vomit.

    Questions for the Group:
I am scheduled for a mammogram at the end of the month (I intend to ask my doc at my first appointment), but just wondered whether anyone knew if they were safe during pregnancy? It is just a routine preventative screening as I have a significant family history of breast cancer.

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have?
I coach lacrosse, jog, love cooking, baking and cake decorating, and I love to garden (my goal is to someday have a small farm and live off the land, but for now I suffice with my little vegetable patch in the backyard).
  • What's new with baby (size, development): baby is finally an appleseed!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: taking prenatal vitamins every day and not forgetting! I also want to try to eat healthier, but right now I am so nauseous that I'm just trying to eat something to get by.

Rant/rave/symptoms: nausea so much. And sore boobs. I really did not realize that pregnancy symptoms start so early.

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? I like playing computer games and neurotically checking pregnancy websites every time have a free moment. This first time pregnancy thing stressfull.

Rant/rave/symptoms: Went for my first beta test yesterday, should get the results this afternoon, I'm dreading the call.

  • Week: 4w6d

What's new with baby (size, development): Still poppyseed.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Go in for my 2nd beta draw today and so nervous. I'm hoping to find out my # from the first draw today too. Other than that just forcing myself to take it easy sometimes and eat better and drink more water.

Rant/rave/symptoms: Just really tired a lot. Cramping went away so that's good.

GTKY: We've been so busy trying to sell a house, moving to a new house, taking care of DS, and working I haven't had time for fun stuff but I typically like reading, planning vacations, and running.

  • Week: 4w,4d (according to LMP - I think I'm 5w today based on ovulation)

What's new with baby (size, development): not much - still a poppyseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: had my 2nd beta yesterday. My numbers didn't quite double. The first one was 869, the second was 1500something. The doctor said that's in the normal range, and I'm grateful that my numbers are rising, but I'm still a little nervous. Scheduled an ultrasound for a week from today.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I am SO tired. Thankfully, my girls still take good naps and I can sneak in a nap of my own most afternoons. I missed it yesterday and fell asleep on the couch at 5:00 pm. Also have that full/bloated/gassy feeling every night after dinner.

Questions for the Group: At my ultrasound next week, I'll be barely 6 weeks. Are they even going to be able to see anything? Can you see a heartbeat that early? Are they just checking for a sac/making sure it's not ectopic?

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? I love to read. Last year, when my DD was little, I hardly read at all. So I made it a goal to read 30 books before my 30th birthday this year. I'm already over 60. Once I started, I couldn't stop! Also love card games/board games and swimming.

Questions for the Group: I like the March badge. Kudos to the creator and is everyone allowed to use the badge in their siggy?
GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? I like to sight-see and I take monthly classes with LO. We've done swim play class, music class, mommy and me yoga and now we are going to the kids gym. I work FT, so it is nice for us to have something special to do every week, just us.

What's new with baby (size, development): Still the size of an appleseed and has a tail.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Making lots of lists!

Rant/rave/symptoms: I'm not a fan of the dull cramping I've been experiencing the past couple mornings. It lasts for a few hours and is both uncomfortable and makes me nervous. It made me POAS yesterday!

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? Reading, shopping, cooking, making to do lists and then procrastinating on all items...
  • Week: 3w6d  - according to LMP

What's new with baby (size, development): Smaller than a seed.......not surprising since I only found out a few days ago

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:  Right now, just excersising, eating well, taking prenatals....trying to wrap my head around the fact we actually got a BFP......

Rant/rave/symptoms:  None really.....feels like super light PMS/AF symptoms (tired, little grumpy, bloated)

Questions for the Group: According to FF today was the day that AF was supposed to show up, although I honestly think FF has the wrong O date for me. I have been taking HPTs and watching the line get a little bit darker each day for the past three days (including today, also verified with Digi yesterday). My question is when do I stop taking HPTs to verify that this little bambino is going to attempt to stick around? (verifying that it isn't a CP)

What's new with baby (size, development): Orange seed!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I cleaned like a mad woman yesterday in our guest bedroom that will be the baby's room. My BFF is coming to stay this weekend while our husbands go camping so I'd like to think I'm cleaning it for her and not the baby. (But it was for the baby) ;)

Rant/rave/symptoms: I haven't been sick yet, a few smells have turned my stomach, but not enough to make me hurl. I'm done with the day by 7 and I just want to be in bed. My BFF wants to go shopping on Saturday (I'm telling her this weekend that I'm pregnant), and I just wonder if I'll have the energy to keep up or if I'll get moody bc I'll be so tired.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have?
I love to crochet. I make baby blankets, scarves, hats, and pretty much anything that I can get a pattern for. I also enjoy reading when I have time. In the summer DH and I like to kayak, but we haven't been since our BFP, but he'll get to on his camping trip this weekend.

What's new with baby (size, development): Apple seed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:

Rant/rave/symptoms: I'm breaking my 1-cup of coffee a day rule today because I cannot for the life of me wake up.  Unisom/B6 is a blessing and a curse - no nausea until 5pm (then it comes back with a vengeance) but I'm a total zombie all day long.  Oh and the Unisom/pregnancy snoring has started and now my husband can't sleep :( And OH MY GOOD GRIEF THE HUNGER TODAY!!!!  I forgot a snack so I had to go out and get a breakfast burrito for my second breakfast because I am apparently pregnant with a hobbit.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? I love love love cooking/baking.  I guess you could say my boys are my hobby - they are so much fun and I am so in love with them.  And I'm going to say binge watching TV shows - my husband and I devour shows on Netflix.  Right now we're in the middle of Raising Hope.

Just stop :) you're pregnant :) If you've missed your period and the line has been getting darker, that should be all the reassurance you need (until you have your first appointment).  If you start bleeding like a period then call your doc because you might have lost it, but it sounds like you've got a good one in there.  Just sit back and relax, it's going to be a looooooong 40 weeks.

    at the Appleseed stage.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:
my husbands a SPENDER. Trying to tell him that's gonna have to change buddy! Lol

    Rant/rave/symptoms:
Cramps. Everyday. Boobs aren't as sore as I expected. But I haven't really had much of an appetite, which makes me feel nauseas.

    Questions for the Group:
    none at the moment.

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have?
We have an 2 year old, English bulldog who is our world. I spend way to much time obsessing over him! :)
  • @SparkE82 I temped for the first 5-10 days to make sure it didn't drop. The next two weeks I took a Wondfo once each week. I have my physician consult on Monday and an u/s the following week so I think I'm done confirming my BFP for now. ;)
  • @mrspepper05 yes they could see a fetal pole, yolk sack, check placement. If they have an internal u/s they might pick up the cardiac contractions, which would look like little flickering (it's really cool!) You can't hear the heartbeat at this stage, though some ultrasounds manipulate the sound waves to make it sound like a heart beat.

What's new with baby (size, development): nada...still waiting on appleseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: worked on armoire refinishing last night!

Rant/rave/symptoms: I had some bright red spotting this morning and I'm a little nervous. I googled and one of the results said "it's usually nothing to be concerned about" but then 2 sentences later something about half of pregnancies with spotting in the first tri ending in miscarriage...which seems contradictory to the first statement! I have an appointment to see the nurse practitioner at my OB office after lunch. Hoping it's nothing.

Questions for the Group: none today!

What's new with baby (size, development): Still poppy seed. Come on apple seed!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I downloaded an app on my phone (Ovia for pregnancy) to help track my weight, eating habits, and exercise. Pretty cool app so far.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I've been having an upset stomach with diarrhea (tmi) for the past few days and I don't know if I ate something bad or pregnancy related??

Questions for the Group: I do a mom & baby workout class twice a week that's mostly resistance training with a bit of cardio. I'm pretty close with the other moms and instructor. Should I tell them I'm pregnant (especially the instructor)? I wanted to wait until 8 weeks but I'm not sure how imperative it is to tell her? I've been feeling fine so far, just a little more fatigued than normal.

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? Exercising, hiking (thank you CO :) ), figure skating (I'm a coach), playing D&D.....yes I'm sorta a nerd, and of course spending most of my time with DD who is 17 months.

@hope+joy+love: Go ahead and tell her :) I just told a friend of mine last night who is the only other person to know besides DH. I was trying to wait until my first appt around 8 weeks.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: ordered some EO's- lemongrass and cypress for swelling (turned into an elephant with DS), and "Tame the Pain" (PlantTherapy) for backaches when baby gets bigger.
Rant/rave/symptoms: Hair falling out (weird, I know. Happened with DS too).  Cramping.  I'm also super duper tired, but that could also be due to the Anatomy & Physiology summer intensive I'm currently taking.  Bleh.

Beyond exhausted most of the day, opening the fridge now makes me wretch so definitely more sensitive to smell, food cravings - mainly for spicy foods!

Questions for the Group: how do you get through the day at work?! I feel myself yawning away and struggling to keep my eyes open!

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have?

Picking knitting patterns for baby and stashing these, I haven't started anything yet, don't want to tempt fate although I know that's a bit illogical... What will be will be
  • @hope+joy+love I hope you told her.. having one friend in the UK who is navigating this a few months before me has been a huge help!

@StormieWinter Aren't mammograms uncomfortable at the best of times... my boobs hurt when I accidentally rub them I could not imagine!  But you do have to weigh the pros and cons

@mrspepper05 should just see a round ball and make sure its in the right place

@jy725 yes use away we will petition of others towards the end of the month but being one of the first here I was bored and found that pic... too awesome to give up a chance at it.  And yes I did put the instructions at the end of of the intro thread but that was like a carrot :)

@hupdrfc I will admit as a teacher its been hard and only tolerable because two year groups are out of school (so I am on a 50% schedule) and I have been crashing for 2-3 hours in the afternoon.  I know this is not sustainable but while DH is not around I am making use of the king size bed and cuddling with my doggy in it.

  • @ACleanLife24 I did tell her! I was nervous but I'm glad I told her- made it more real and it was fun to talk about my feelings/symptoms with a friend who's been there before (she's my only close friend with kids!)

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed status!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Making plans for any home improvements that are necessary before the baby comes (we bought a fixer-upper in November).

Rant/rave/symptoms: Gas pains and indigestion and a little bit of soreness in my boobs. But really only when I run/work out.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Other than binge watching TV shows... what are other hobbies you have? Reading, skiing, wine tastings (on hold for now lol), hiking, being outdoors.

I work in breast health- no mammos during pregnancy. Self exams are critical, and if you feel a lump then US is totally safe!
