What's new with baby (size, development): he or she is as big as an apple seed and is working on his or her head and spinal column

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: nothing today- I'm heading back to work

Rant/rave/symptoms: same old same old nausea, cramping, headaches. My hips were sore last night too.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be? Come to Glasgow, we drink stuff you have never heard of.

    Week: 6+3

What's new with baby (size, development):  fingers and toes

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: budget time... we both get paid on the 28th and new budget will be in force! I may be a bitch but I will be basically giving my DH an envelope of cash and that is all he can spend that month (but I will have my own sum too!)

Rant/rave/symptoms: Holy bloat and bum!  (but I may have been bad and ate pizza :/ )

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be?
Welcome to Brum, Try an Indian at home tonight!

(yes it is politically incorrect and a double entendre but that's how the Brits like to roll.  Also living on one of Britiains most Asian cities has its merits like amazing food, fabric stores and crazy market stores!)

  • Week: 4w2d

What's new with baby (size, development): Poppy seed. Or seeds?

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Changed my appointment.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I don't want to rub it in for people with disappointing beta's, so if you're fearing a loss right now, you might want to stop reading. I got my beta's back yesterday night: 1150 at 4w0d. That's really, really high, and I'm very sure of my O date. So of course, I'm freaking out and Google is not helping. It could be just a really good sign and nothing else. It could be twins. And just maybe, I can't get it out of my head, it could be molar? So happy to live in Belgium right now. I had my first prenatal appointment in a month, I just called and they want me to come in next week.

Questions for the Group: any thoughts on high betas?

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be? Ghent, we've had hipsters since Medieval times.

  • Well since I messed up, I might as well post my updates again in the correct spot...

    Week: 5w, 4d

    What's new: Appleseed

What am I doing? Nothing today- just trying to make it to my 9 week appointment since none of my doctors seem to care I'm pregnant and want to see me sooner :P

Rants/raves: symptoms- sore tatas and peeing all the time (could be all the water I am trying to drink?) and a weird slight "side ache" feeling on my left that comes and goes

Questions for the group: I've been testing with my extra wondfo hcg's just to be "sure" I thought they'd get darker faster but they're still not as dark as the control- should I stop driving myself crazy with these tests or worry that my levels are not increasing?

GTKY- Clearwater: Come see our truck stop the size of Walmart and eat a donut the size of your face.

Wishing everyone on this board the happiest and healthiest 9 months!  Over the past few days, I experienced a lot of bleeding, and my nurse was able to confirm the MC over the phone just from hearing me describe the amount of / type of discharge.  I still plan on taking another test in a week, just to be absolutely certain (for the sheer fact that I will be drinking again) but I'm 99% sure that it was a MC.  My immediate family (and the 3 close friends that we told) have been beyond supportive during this process.  I'm a little bummed, but mostly frustrated.  I keep telling myself, this gives me more time to:

    - practice TTC with DH  ;)
    - have a few more drinks this summer  :)>-
    - dive into my half-marathon training without worrying about harming baby (and pour all of my aggression into my workouts!)  B-)

In all seriousness, though, I'm so thrilled for each of you.  Enjoy the journey!  I can't wait to join you!  >:D<

  • @KristieA so sorry for your loss :(

    Week: 4 +5 I think

What's new with baby (size, development): Poppyseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Trying to eat better and take better care of myself overall.

Rant/rave/symptoms: Back is killing me but I also have a herniated disc. It just seems to be worse now. Also light cramping that is freaking me the eff out.

Questions for the Group: 2 Questions- #1 I met with a new Dr in my practice and she told me to take an additional folic acid supplement when my prenatal already has 800 mcg. I read 1000 mcg is the max you should take, why would she want me to take 1200 mcg in total?? #2 I see a chiropractor for my herniated disc (nothing else worked). The same dr said to stop seeing the chiro just in case. I know I should trust my dr but everything else I've read said it's safe. I'm just annoyed and 2nd guessing her.

  • Week: 5w2d

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed is forming its heart and it may begin beating soon.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Calling my insurance company this morning, even though DH's company's enrollment period is in August so the plan/insurance carrier may be changing. I also walked into a maternity store for the first time yesterday out of curiosity.

Rant/rave/symptoms: My lower back and legs/feet are really sore by the end of the day. I tend to wake up with a headache that goes away by midday. I woke up with some light cramping today.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be?

@hope+joy+love I've used two Wondfos this week and have the same results. I did not use FMU either time, but I like to think my urine wasn't very diluted. My initial BFP was SO faint (on two Wondfos) that I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. These lines are dark, but maybe half as dark as the control? If that makes sense. I'm hoping, like you, that all is well and a line is a line. :)
  • @KristieA and @navegalejos I am so sorry for your losses.

@kristen712 what you describe is the same for me - "half as dark". This makes me feel a little better.

  • @MayBeSomeDay16 Yes, I believe this is common. I haven't had a m/c but from what I've seen other ladies report, their OBs like to monitor their betas right away on subsequent pregnancies. Regardless of loss, it is typical for all first appointments (mine is next week) to have blood drawn for a variety of reasons: confirm pregnancy, check vitamin levels, blood type (to check for Rh compatibility), etc.

What's new with baby (size, development): nothing new, still poppy seed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: nothing today

Rant/rave/symptoms: 1 boob definitely seems bigger than the other... lol

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be? Denver, where you're NOT in the mountains. I'm not too creative lol

@hope+joy+love I'm not positive but I don't think they're supposed to be as dark or darker like OPKs. Also, it really sucks but most practices don't see you until 8-10 weeks. The waiting blows!
@wmarley Your new Dr seems kinda strange. If you're having doubts now is a good time to switch to someone else. I had a number of doubts with my 1st OB and just dismissed them. Looking back for this 2nd time around, I decided to change Dr's and I'm so glad I did :)

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:

Rant/rave/symptoms: Horrible horrible nausea so I started on my unisom/b6, which caused me to totally sleep through my 3-year old's freak out that he needed water last night.  Payback to my husband for all the times I had to get up over the past 3 years :D

    Week: Cautiously hopeful at 4+1

What's new with baby (size, development): Teeny tiny poppyseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Just trying to stay healthy and not worry

    Rant/rave/symptoms: None yet!

Questions for the Group: Are check-ins for everyone, everyday or is there one each day for every week we progress? Ex. All Tuesday people post in the Tuesday thread when their week changes?

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be? Hmm, I saw a T-Shirt yesterday that said "Crab cakes and football baby, that's what MD does." I think this is a quote from Wedding Crashers. I do question football though, we really aren't that great at football. ETA, I always forget about the Ravens since I grew up with the Redskins. I think the Ravens are actually good. Long story short, I don't follow football.

What's new with baby: Sweet pea! Baby is circulating blood and starting to develop facial structure

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I bought some books this week and Burts Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter (I've heard whether one gets stretch marks is genetic but I'm going to do my damnedest to prevent them.)

Rant/rave/symptoms: I had light cramping around weeks 4-5 but that has subsided for the most part. My sense of smell seems to be really strong now. Boobs are still killer. I've started to sleep really well at night because of this fatigue.

Questions for the Group: For those that work outside the home- Are you planning on telling your bosses when you announce to friends/family? I'm considering waiting until I'm 4 or 5 months along. I don't want people coming by my desk asking me questions, even though they mean well. I'm just not big on sharing my personal life with coworkers (my team is  all women 20+ years older than me). Do I sound like a grump? I probably am.

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be? Oh man, I don't know. I'll try to think of something.

  • Week: 5ks, 4 days

What's new with baby: spinal cord is developing :)
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I ordered a used copy of pregnancy day by day on Amazon and I have been reading it every day. There is a ton of good info in there!

Rant/rave/symptoms: I have been cramping a little since my missed period but it seems to be less frequent every day. I also have realized what areas of my house could use an air freshner and that my dogs literally smell terrible up close and personal. My boobs are killing me, which I find odd considering that the majority of my boob is fake (ha-ha). Anyways, I am not sick at all just kind of moving along at a leisurely pace and getting excited for my 6 week appointment.

Questions for the Group: Not that I can think of right now :)

  • @fwtx5815 I'm probably going to tell work people around 12 weeks and family prior to that. I'll just tell family to keep it off FB so it doesn't get leaked to coworkers.

  • Week: 5!

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed - yay!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Just still trying to take it easy. I've cut back a bit on working out, which has been a little difficult, but I'm just trying to listen to my body instead of pushing myself to the max.

Rant/rave/symptoms: Sore boobs off and on... And also (this might be borderline TMI) a little light yellow CM. Still tired, but not as exhausted as yesterday, thank goodness.

Questions for the Group: Anyone else had light yellow CM?

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be? Tulsa - The hippiest (and happiest?) city in Oklahoma.

@wmarley: After my MC in April, my doc recommended taking a folic acid supplement in addition to my prenatal, so I have been doing so ever since. I've read that folic acid is a water-soluble supplement, so your body will flush out everything you don't need.

  • Update: the RN asked me a bunch of questions so I did feel like she was thorough which was nice- she said that I can try Tylenol or a warm pack or warm shower to help if it's bothersome and keep drinking water (at least a gallon a day). She said not to worry that it could be ligament pain or normal stretching. If it gets worse or my spotting returns (had light spotting for a few days around BFP) or doesn't go away after a while that I can call back. I am glad I called because I'm going to be out of state for four days leaving Saturday and I didn't want to be worried far from home.

My dd was 3/8, but my dr wants to go by my LMP instead of my O date, at least for now, so my dd is now 2/28. I am still sticking around with you guys though since I've already been here!  Sorry I was MIA for awhile.  We had company and have been so busy! I am back though and going to play catch up.

Questions for the Group: Is your DD calculated by your LMP (last menstrual period) or you O date?

GTKY: If you could write a tourist bureau slogan for your town what would it be? For my home town of Erie, PA? The mistake by the lake.. haha...jk..kinda.  For the place I live now? Welcome to Snowtown, NY!...I mean watertown...yea, totally meant watertown. (I know those both suck, but that's all I could come up with right now)

  • @kristieA @navgalejos I'm so, so sorry for your losses.

@hope+joy+love the wondfos also don't get super dark for me like the ovulation strips did.  I took an ERPT and it showed up super dark! I'm not getting to see my dr until 10w4d and the wait is killing me!! It is usually between 8-12 weeks they see you.

@jy725 good question! I am wondering the same thing.. Are we just supposed to update on these when our week turns or can we check in whenever we want?

Most of us have been updating daily.  I think it makes the week go faster :)
