February 2016 Moms

Symptom concern?

hi everybody! My name is Olivia and I'm due Feb 5,2016! I'm about 9 and a half weeks. I guess I've developed another symptom and just wondering if anyone else is had this issue! Yesterday I got in the car to go to work and I felt something strange. I was extremely dizzy and my vision went out. I could see light but nothing else and I felt sweaty, hot and sick. Like I was going to pass out. It was really scary. It went away but took about 15 minutes of cool air in my face and sitting completely still. I got to work and they took my blood sugar and Bp (I'm a pharmacy technician at a family owned pharmacy) my sugar was fine but my Bp was low. They made me go home and I kept track of my Bp all day. It was even lower throughout the day. I had to be careful just getting up to go to the bathroom or I'd get really lightheaded and sweaty again! I called the OB and my nurse said to stay off my feet and push fluids. I have an OB appointment scheduled for Thursday anyways to try to hear a heartbeat. All this has really concerned me. Has anyone else dealt with anything similar?? Thanks everyone I know this is a long post!

Re: Symptom concern?

  • My BP and my blood sugar drop if I dont consistently eat, I to have felt very similar if I get to hot or tired. My Dr suggested more gatorade for the electrolytes, hope it helps!

  • Last pregnancy I had that happen twice early on, it was weird, but for me it only lasted about 4-6 hours each time then went away. My OB wasn't concerned so hopefully it's just a weird thing for you too! T&Ps!

  • Yes! I have with both of my previous pregnancies and this one. It is indeed a horrible feeling! I was told it was possibly anemia with my first. My blood work was a bit above borderline but they couldn't figure out what else it could be. Someone who saw me like that in public and helped me said it sounded like low blood pressure and now after reading this I believe it,y bp has always been very low during pregnancy but OB never said anything. I'm sorry I have no solution but just take it easy mama!

  • Yup. The hormones cause blood vessels to dilate, which causes more room for the blood to pass through, which causes a drop in bp. . . and dizziness/vertigo.
Push fluids, get up slowly. . . And if your doc oks it, eat more salt
  • Yes, I feel the same. There's actually a search bar down below that you can use. There are a few posts on dizziness here already.
  • I had this with my first pregnancy and I actually passed out at work. I am scared it's going to happen again. I was told to have protein every breakfast. I've been trying but it's definitely hard with all the food adversions.

I've had it with both pregnancies, very unpleasant. Increase your fluid intake dramatically, indulge in salty snacks, and change positions slowly.

    Thanks everyone!
  • I had it happen with my last pregnancy- esp after I took a hot shower in the morning. Be careful and take care if yourself!
