Re: Tuesday Check In

  • Yep none- I'm not even sure I get one until 20 weeks? They scheduled all my appts up to 28 weeks and only the 20 week appt actually says "us" on it.

What's new with baby (size, development): still an appleseed!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: filling my fridge with healthy eats!

Rant/rave/symptoms:  had an ultrasound today, which was amazing, even though it was scary at first. This morning I woke up with severe sharp pains, which was new. Before, I just had mild cramping and back pain. There was no bleeding, but I freaked out Luckily, my father-in-law's friend is an OB told me to come in right away. I had an ultrasound and everything is where it is supposed to be (I was convinced it was an EP). Bloodwork showed the beginnings of a UTI which explains all my cramping, jabs, and back pain. RAVE: I did find out that I now live in a country (Jordan) where they do ultra sounds at every appointment. That made me so happy!

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: My husband and I are dorks, so it would likely be laser tag, or go karting :)
  • Week: 4w6d

What's new with baby (size, development): Still a poppyseed!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Just trying to take it easy!

Rant/rave/symptoms:  I. Am. So. Tired. Ha! Also, slight pains in my boobs now and then.

Questions for the Group: When will I stop inspecting the toilet paper?! JK, kinda. I'm just a little anxious after my last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 6w1d.

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: Probably a nice dinner out, then back home with a yummy bottle of wine!

What's new with baby (size, development): poppyseed...I want that appleseed already!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: working on an armoire for the room that baby and my youngest stepson will share (no closet space).

Rant/rave/symptoms: Definitely feeling the nausea today. I went out at lunch and bought basically every ginger thing that Whole Foods sells - ginger ale, ginger candies (hard and chewy), ginger tea...hopefully it helps!

Questions for the Group: I think someone else asked the same thing...how are some of you getting in to see your dr so early? Mine won't see me until after 8 weeks, so early August.  It feels so far away!

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: Dinner out and then a movie. We celebrated Friday night after finding out and basically did that :)

All practices do things differently. Mine likes us to be seen around 6-8 weeks for an ultrasound and blood work. Did you ask if you could get one?

  • Week: End of week 4 beginning 5 tomorrow

What's new with baby (size, development): Baby is the size of a sesame seed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: This is our second and we did IUI so we've had more blood tests and ultrasounds than we did with the first kidlet, also I'm a bit more relaxed this time around

Rant/rave/symptoms: Breasts hurt off and on, headaches come and go, but my blood pressure seems to be okay, I started with a new OB as we moved to this state in 2013 and I have to take a prenatal education class because I was pregnant almost four years ago, so I'm annoyed by that, but I'm happy to be pregnant this took a really long time and I'm pretty excited

Questions for the Group: I don't have any but I hope everyone is doing well

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: Dinner without kidlet and maybe a movie

All doctors are different with my first I lived in New Mexico and the ultrasound was at 10 or 12 weeks.  This time I live in Oregon but I went to a fertility doctor and did a round of Clomid and did IUI so my fertility doctor had me do two blood draws (I didn't do that with my first until the first prenatal appt at 10-12 weeks) and we're doing an ultrasound on July 17th so she can make sure everything is going smoothly.  Then I have a blood draw and a urine test with my new OB on Thursday and an ultrasound with them on July 28th and my EDD is 3.10.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:  had an apt with my doctor today confirmed I am pregnant (YAY) lol and set up my first Ultrasound for the last week of July! To say I am excited would be an understatement!

Rant/rave/symptoms: Today it probably the first day I have felt ill, my stomach is just not setting right :( I am also extremely gassy (sorry tmi) it's so embaressing!!!

Questions for the Group: has anyone found something that works for gas?! I am a hair dresser and letting them "rip" mid client is not ok! I need help :(

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: Camp fire and smores or taking out puppies to the beach

I did - I could come in, but they said it would be billed as a well woman visit, which wouldn't be covered by insurance (since I've already had my preventive visit this year). Maybe that's just their policy because most insurance won't cover it? I'm not sure. I'm not planning to go in earlier since I'd prefer to save the funds for all the other costs we'll incur (we have high deductibles and high out of pocket limits on our current insurance, it stinks!).
