Frederick will be either the first or middle name for this baby, after my terminally ill brother. He will go by his other name though. My husband likes Clay though it has no meaning for us and Jeeter, which is a family name albeit a pretty strange one. The name will have to be two syllables at most, preferably one because we have a long three syllable last name. The name Lee (family name) is off the table (we used that as dd2's middle name). TIA
Re: Name to go with Frederick
So since family names are out, what other names would sound good with Frederick? Bearing in mind this child would go by that name, not Frederick.
Just to humor you, let me list some of the family names we have to work with.
Albert (no)
Glenn (no)
Randolph (no)
Crockett (hell no)
Gold (no)
Sowers (no)
Jeeter (maybe)
Lee (already used by us for another child)
The rest of the names are variations of the above (randy, al, etc.). We are using Frederick from my side, so I don't want to use another family name on my side. Even if I did, we are from another country and Frederick is the only name that would work.
Soooooo. What other names would sound good with Frederick? I have no preference with Frederick being the first or middle name, just that our son will go by his other name rather than Frederick.
Frederick James
Frederick Anthony
Frederick Thomas
Frederick Christopher
Frederick Michael
Frederick Ryan
Frederick Owen
Frederick Dean
Frederick Samuel
Frederick Benjamin
Dh wants max of two syllables bc last name is 3 and Frederick is three. He prefers 1, but will be ok with 2.
He has 86'd all of those names already
Definitely make Frederick the middle name if he's not going to go by it. I have been called my middle name since birth and it's terribly annoying.
Albert is DH dad's name and both of them don't like it. Randolph is DH's first name and he HATES it.
Love Jude but my best friend just named her son that. Joseph is the only other one that would make the syllable cut but he doesn't like that. I kind of like Jacob and is a family name quite a few generations back on his side. But of course dh isn't a fan.
Maybe search the SS name list above 500 or 750 or even beyond the top 1000

My ex BF of 5 years before DH is Griffin.
My BFF just named her son Jude.
We know a lot of little boys in our area named Tucker, so it is just too common here.
He 86'd Jonah a while ago (it was on my list).
His right hand man at work he had to fire has a son named Reid, so that is out.

You might just have to go with Clay if you still can't find anything
That said, Frederick is an awesome name. Everett and Garrett are fine too. I prefer Frederick Ryan, nn Ryan.
EDD for #1: 3/19/17
I like the Southern quirks too. He has always loved the nn Rhett so I guess I should make a stand for Garrett or Everett too, although Clay is sooooo much better than most of the others he loves!
