July 2nd- July 7th Weekly symptoms

edited July 2015 in June 2015 Moms
Since we are all pretty much over the hump of feeling like total crap and starting to feel more like our normal (or new normal) self, I've made this a weekly thread. How is everyone feeling today? Healing from delivery? In the last few days of pregnancy? Sore nipples? Feel like you're a milking machine? Spill it here!!

Every time I feel like I've done the nesting thing another, even crazier, nesting urge hits me. Today I painted our bedroom, the entrance way to our house and started an art project to go on our bedroom wall. I literally can't move from the pain but I still want to finish the art project...hopefully I don't go into labour until I rest a bit?? Haha.
  • Lower back ache and a few contractions today, although I think it's mostly from nipple stimulation. It really helps to bring on cramps, but then stops after a while. I have an induction scheduled for Sunday, but still really hoping this little guy decides to come on his own before then!

So. Stabby. Had a membrane sweep this morning, and I feel like it's doing nothing. Contracting lots but for the most part painless. I guess it's only been an hour. (Currently 40+3) but then I got home and am just SO ANGRY. Trying to not take it out on poor DH.

Anxiety is through the roof. I have a history of it and I was on anxiety meds for pretty much 11 years straight with a few short breaks. Weaned myself off last summer before we started TTC and did pretty well. I haven't had any panic attacks, but another symptom I have a history of is hives on my chest. I had them mildly at pediatrician appointment yesterday and woke up this morning with my chest and shoulders covered in them. I've never had them in my sleep before until the last few days. I think I may talk to the doctor on Monday about some safe meds. I don't want to be so anxious.

Please do talk to your doctor! I was having some severe anxiety in the first week pp. I increased my dose of prozac and i'm feeling SO much better! And DS seems totally fine. Feel better. :)

Hang in there. I went into labor the day after my membrane sweep!

@mcknzzee, I'm definitely going to. I talked to DH and my mom and sister about it today. They are all very supportive and encouraging and told me they think I'm doing great and that I'm strong for admitting I need some help. I'm proud of myself for being med free for a little over a year now and prouder still that I can admit I need that help again. Between the hives and upset stomach, I know I need it. It's best for me and LO. Thanks for your encouragement, it's always reassuring to not feel like you're the only one.

You are definitely not alone. :)
  • I also went off anxiety meds before starting TTC and have been thinking about starting again. I was on a really low dose of Zoloft and it just seemed to help take the edge off. I am a chronic worrier and I feel like the anxiety is taking away from me enjoying my little guy. My sister decided to stay on her meds through out pregnancy and is now breast feeding as well. Not sure what I'm going to do either....

You certainly don't want anxiety to interfere with your relationship with your child. Actually, from a professional (medical/ child developmental) standpoint this is considered way more risky than taking antidepressants during pregnancy or BF' ing. Figure out what you need to do to enjoy your little man. You carried him for ten months, you deserve it!
  • @courtyowl427 that's exactly how I'm feeling. I get especially overwhelmed with large groups of visitors and then get so anxious and tired I feel myself almost withdrawing. I was on a low dose of Paxil for years and am hoping that it's safe and will work. I was having a lot of anxiety about bf'ing and the pediatrician said a healthy mommy (mentally and physically) is most important for a,healthy baby.
  • TMI update: lost what i think is most of my mucous plug earlier today. should i post a pic? or make my own thread? XD

ive noticed that laying down causes discomfort in the bump as well. not a good feeling. im sure its a good sign though.
  • 6 days PP and my family is visiting. I think I'm spending toouch time seated. My Virginia is swollen and it hurts sometimes when I pee. I put in a message to my healthcare provider to see what else I can do.

Anyone else have lightning pain in their breasts? Like a cramp? So weird.
  • @elizab14 that cramping in your breasts is the milk let down probably.
  • not only am i having mucous from my virginia, but my nose is really runny today for whatever reason.
also people are stupid. is that a symptom?
  • I have been getting migraines for the past couple days. I've never really had them before, definitely not on a daily basis like now. Anyone else having issues with headaches or migraines?
  • 3 weeks pp and still bleeding, lightish pink/clear pink to brown at times like an end of a period. Last time I was completely not bleeding at 2 weeks. I have to wonder if I'm just more active this time with a toddler and may have been overdoing it. I'm not sure! Super over wearing granny panties and pads!

  • Sitting here pumping and had to sneeze. Seriously felt like my incision ripped open. I haven't had too much pain, but that made me cry. 2 weeks pp tomorrow, shouldn't I be feeling much better now?
  • I'm still having the "baby blues" just a bit. I feel much better though. LO is almost 3 weeks old and I think she knows her days/nights (thank God), but it still doesn't mean I sleep well. I've pretty much stopped bleeding so that's good. Soooo other than me wanting to throat punch my SO all the time I think I'm doing pretty good =))

Even at 6 weeks I still have some tenderness at my incision site. It's better than it was but definitely still tender, especially after activity.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I just started getting them at 4 weeks pp...

Thanks, I really thought I'd ripped the incision open. I have pretty much stopped taking the motrin because it was making me sick to my stomach. I am going to ask tomorrow if tylenol is ok
  • 8 days pp. was sore all week but today I feel like I can't stand with feeling crazy amounts of pressure in my Virginia. It feels like my uterus is going to fell out of me. Hopeing some Advil does the trick :-/ how long till the stitches dissolve? I'm ready to feel better now please wah
  • Virginia is finally starting to feel better..not like i got kicked down there! But def having some blues now
  • @JessHeppell hang in there girl!!! I'm so sorry! It'll be over soon!

Officially 2 days PP. Feeling remarkably good! Sore nipples, but not cracked or bleeding (LO has been cluster feeding so he's been on the boob CONSTANTLY). Yay! After that horror show of a pregnancy I'm not sure I could have taken a rough recovery.

    2 weeks PP.

My most pressing problem right now is that I have a big old blood blister on my right nipple that prevents me from nursing on that side. I tried and blood got in the nipple shield. My LO made a grimace of disgust, arching his back away, and who could blame him? Anyone know if small quantities of mother's blood is bad for babies?

A small amount of your blood shouldn't do any harm to the baby. When my LO was just born he was spitting up slightly bloody amniotic fluid (I'd had a bit of a bleed with the birth) and I was looking it up - it's not uncommon for babies to spit up a bit of blood mixed with milk if their mothers have cracked nipples, but all the advice I found said you can continue to breastfeed.

But if you're having that much pain then definitely see a lactation consultant- because the longer you try and soldier on through the pain the worse it will get, and the longer it'll take to heal once you get the latch sorted. Look after yourself as well, it probably doesn't feel like it right now but you are doing great. Making sure your LO has a happy healthy mother is one of the best things you can do for him right now.
  • @heidiiwa I feel your pain... I have inverted nipples myself and it has been torture! Baby is week and a half old and now am down to exclusively pumping and feeding with bottles. Not what I wanted originally but the nipple shield wasn't working for baby and me...there wasn't a good latch really so it just caused tons of stress for us. But now that I have been pumping with a double electric pump every 3 hrs nipples have come out significantly so I may try to put LO on the boob again so maybe pump will work for u too

Good luck I know it's frustrating!!

@aliciaspinnet thank you, nice of you to say I'm doing great. It's hard to have perspective sometimes. Yeah to tell the truth the LC I know seemed kind of flaky on the phone, but I will keep trying to get hold of her and get some pointers on my technique. Also I went back to taking the ibuprofen I was prescribed when I left the hospital. Guess there's no reason to skimp on that if it helps with the pain.

Good to know I can continue to bf even with a little blood. It's not ideal but I'm sure I'm not the first one it's happened to! The human body is made this way after all. Though one must wonder why our nipples are so darn sensitive and delicate when they have to support such a heavy burden of use!!!

@paige0704 thank you for the encouragement!

Wow that is a good sign that your nipples are coming out after pumping!!! Fingers crossed for you that your LO will be able to latch on! Sounds like the electric pump has worked out well for you. I used one in the hospital and it was really nice... I could tell when my breasts ran out of milk, and all I had to do was sit there until that happened. With manual pumping, I quit before I actually run out of milk because my hands get tired operating the pump. It takes so long, and it uses both hands so I can't do anything else, and breastfeeding/pumping makes me sleepy. So it is a challenge to stay awake long enough to get any decent amount!
