We loved the name Wyatt since day one that was the name for us. We found out yesterday we are expecting a girl, but the only name we have settled on was Wyatt (for a boy of course). Now we think it would be a cute girl name but don't know if we should change the spelling?? Mother in law does not like it says we shouldn't put our child through that -_-
Opinions please !!
Re: Help with spelling our baby girls name!
Your MIL is correct, Wyatt is bad enough for a girl please don't try to make it anymore U-Neek by changing the spelling.
And Ashton Kutcher named his girl Wyatt so its not even original.
Also, I tend to agree with what she said. And honestly, wouldn't you want to hear these types of opinions now before you name your child that and perhaps regret naming her that?
Do you have any friends, even on Facebook, that have a more unique name or have name that was gender switched? You could message them and ask how they felt growing up with such a different name. I have several friends who have only semi different names and they all hated it while growing up. They still get annoyed in work settings when people cannot pronounce or even type their name correctly.
Maybe you should table the idea for awhile and concentrate on girls names more. Go buy a pink or purple onesie, eat a pink cupcake, get in the mindset of having a girl and not a boy to try and help you along.
I also agree that Wyatt would not suite a female by any stretch of the imagination. You could go ahead, but that is a lot of unnecessary hardship on your daughter, don't you think?
Why not Wynona? If you like the sound of Wyatt it is pretty close & feminine.

Wilhelmina is also got that W sound that is similar.
To be honest, it is hard to be respectful when a parents' likes/dislikes & desires for a name appear to carry more weight than the life long issues that their child might face with their name. It's not just about what you like. This is someone's lifelong identity.
So I understand loving a name. I get that & sometimes life throws you some interesting curve balls. It turns out that the name you really like doesn't really work. C'est la vie, man.
Also, if you ask for thoughts & opinions then it's poor form to complain when you actually get them.

And Charlotte was extremely common even before the new royal baby so I don't think your best friends brother should really be surprised if there are lots of other baby Charlotte's in this world...
