Me and my SO have recently heard of some cons of vaccinating, such as that vaccinations cause ADD and autism. I just researched on my own. But, I still haven't found any articles for or against vaccinating that have allowed me to make a definitive decision as to what I will do with my LO.
Vaccines do not cause autism or ADD.
If you can live with the fact that your decision to not vaccinate your child could result in their death or the death of someone who can't be vaccinated (due to age, illness, allergy etc) then go ahead and don't vaccinate. It's your choice.
If They have had the vaccine how would your kid get it? Hmmmm
Is this a serious question?
There are many people who can't be vaccinated for various reasons beyond their control, surely your not saying as long as your kid is ok then sod the rest of society? We need to vaccinate to create herd immunity, it's not about my kid being safe, it's about ALL kids (and adults) being as safe as we can make them.
@abaume 49 doses ??!! Here's the thing I posted earlier .... By 6 years old we only receive 12 sets on needles altogether ! And tdap, pneu-c-13 and MMR is repeated because it's broken down into smaller doses... We don't receive 49 doses in Canada... What 49 doses do you receive where your from ?
amberrmariee20 each needle has more than one vaccine in it so in total you end up with 49 doses in the states. Those charts are confusing to me I am not sure how many doses you guys get but I know that we get more than any other country. In the 80's a child only got 23 before six.
@amberrmariee20 it looks like you guys get 41 doses if I am reading the chart right. Again, I 100% agree with vaccines I am just concerned about all of the doses. So, I will probably just pay the extra doctor visit charges and only allow my baby to get one shot at a time. As a 135lb grown woman the military gave me five shots at once and I was sick for three days. I can only imagine how a small child with a delicate developing body would feel.
While yes those numbers do seem to have increased a lot, I dont see evidence for a link between the shots and these numbers. I mean, traffic deaths have gone way up where I am, as have vaccines, so there must be a correlation? Be careful what you lump together like that, there has to be an actual link established before two random numbers going up means they're related.

I agree with the one shot at a time, we only get one shot at 2,4,6,12 months and 2 years... Then at 4 or 5 before school children recieve 2 !
Yes. Vaccinate your child. We weren't going to do when we had our daughter because of all the research my husband did. It just sounded like a bad idea. Then I talked to a trusted family member who is a pediatrician (lives in another state) and she told me flat out please get your kid vaccinated, I've seen too many kids die from something that is preventable. She's an all natural, vegetarian health but like my husband so coming from her was enough to get me act together. My daughter is four and she's been fine every time. No doubt we'll be vaccinating this boy too.
@melmel92 I am not trying to link them together it was just to show the dosing difference over the years. Personally I think it's all the chemical and artificial ingredients in our food that cause many health issues. That's another topic though.
Actually my SO did not vaccinate his son until later because of autism concerns in young boys particularly and his son is just fine. Of course he had to get some vaccinations once he was of a certain age in order to go to school, but they waited. I didn't bring up my concerns to counter any other info in the thread, simply to say those were some cons that I read upon since so many ppl jumped on the original poster for not listing what exactly her concerns were. None of us know anything for certain @mollypuss1 - like whether there is a link - even if we've read the wealth of articles on the topic. The fact that his son did not tragically die from not being vaccinated at birth begs the question whether vaccinations are truly necessary. I do intend to research more as I stated earlier but I thought that many commenters were mean and curt with the original poster who may have had no way of knowing this was such a sensitive topic for some. I certainly didn't know myself. I am a FTM and new to the site. I also go on once, max twice a day so I don't catch everything. Some were calling her a "lurker" (who cares if she is) like just because she may not fully participate, she has no right to post a discussion. It was unreal! Anyhoo, the subject is moot at this point. I'll remember not to ask a question or start a discussion unless I have fully researched what it is I want to know beforehand!
I feel like I'm gonna get a lot of crap for this but boughtmovie.com has a lot of information on the cons of vaccinating... The documentary also does. That being said I am still doing my research on it but I think we are going to go with a delayed schedule.

I disagree. We know a lot of things for certain though scientific proof and there is scientific proof that vaccines do not cause autism or ADD.
I fail to follow your logic I'm afraid. Because his son was not vaccinated and he didn't die this questions whether vaccines are necessary? By the same logic if I jump out a plane without a parachute and survive does that question whether parachutes are needed?
The main point here, however, is not whether one child was ok after not being vaccinated, it is about the damage that one unvaccinated child poses to the greater public, mainly to those who cannot be vaccinated through no fault of their own.

That is nothing but a fear mongering website. Check some actual scientific articles, ask your doctor/pedi/midwife. Vaccines have wonderful qualities that have been SCIENTIFICALLY proven to prevent the diseases vaxx'ed for, when there is a majority (90+%) herd vaccination.

Just wanted to respond quickly so you know this in the future - when people start their response by saying "lurker" or some variation thereof, they are identifying themselves as a lurker, not commenting on the OP's status in the community. They are letting everyone else know that their home board is elsewhere because we probably won't recognize their screen name.
Ok, everybody has said some great stuff here. Another thought (as a pro-vaxxer myself) concerning the whole big Pharma/ money angle. The healthcare system actually saves money by getting people vaccinated. If "they" wanted to make more money the kinds of hospital admissions, drugs, whatever required would actually make a lot more money in the long term. The companies who develop the vaccines also develop the drugs.
^ Truth. Big Pharma doesn't make nearly as much off vaccines as they do off people with chronic diseases. Chronic diseases (diabetes, depression, ED, heart disease...) require constant re-upping of a prescription, whereas you get the vaccine once in your life (theoretically, I guess there are boosters). If they really wanted to make money they would separate all the combined vaccines out and make you pay for each one you get. Insurance companies loooove to cover "preventative care" like vaccines because they don't have to pay out later when you file a claim for something more expensive, like hospitalization due to a previously-eradicated but extremely contagious disease.
