Rollercoasters

So I've been doing some research about whether or not riding a rollercoaster while pregnant is safe in the first trimester. There's not much scientific evidence pointing to either answer. Anyone ridden a rollercoaster while pregnant? I know a lot of the signs warn against it but like I said, there's no science supporting it.

I had the same problem when I was about 6 weeks. We got season passes for six flags and my mom was visiting and just had to go. I looked for days for some kind of information. In the end, I decided not to ride anything. It's totally up to you, if you do I would just suggest nothing with sudden stops.

Most things in pregnancy have no science supporting it because no pregnant woman is going to agree to test something that could hurt her baby. That's why they give you reasons why it could be harmful but they technically have to say that it's not supported scientifically.

  • My doc said the bumping and jiggling around could cause a miscarriage, but I also have an SCH, so I was told no horseback riding or four wheeling either lol. It's just not recommended because it's high impact on that area.
  • Just went to an amusement park yesterday. I avoided all jostling and shaking coasters. My rule of thumb was, if a toddler can't ride it, neither can I. My hubby and I had a fabulous time!!

  • Thanks for posting. I had the same question. I think I'm going to go with the cautious side on this one.

  • I went to Disneyland at 5 weeks and just avoided the sudden drop rides and the big roller coasters, most of the rides there are designed for kids so they weren't very jostling, but I probably wouldn't have gone on anything with a lap belt if I had been any further along even though I've been low risk so far
  • I just got back from Disney world. My OB's rule of thumb was if I wouldn't take my 2 year old on it, I shouldn't ride! Your gut wil tell you what you should and shouldn't ride!
  • I went and road the kiddy rides with my almost 2 year old.
  • I've heard the G force can hurt you, so I agree that you should skip rollercoasters.
