Anxiety.

My LO has just gotten the hang of rolling over. It's all she wants to do when she is laying down. I woke to check on her last night and she had rolled over and was asleep on her stomach. I think hearing her movement may have been what woke me. I am a nervous wreck. I've always checked her breathing during naps and at night, but this just brought on a whole new level of anxiety. Any advice?

Re: Anxiety.

  • Just know that if she's strong enough to roll over she's strong enough to lift her head if she needs to. It is a nerve wracking thing. My little guy has been sleeping on his tummy since about 6 weeks...he could lift his head, was super gassy and hated being on his back. He frequently sleeps face planted also. Haha, I checked on him every few hours - until I got used to getting sleep again and now I only check on him to move him from the corner of his crib. He wiggles and shoves his head way into the corner.

  • Thanks! I'm feeling a little better after reading everyone else going through this as well. I just can't get over that feeling of waking up to check on her and seeing her face planted in her crib!! I swear I've never moved so fast in my life!! It is so nerve wracking! She is very strong, she will fight me trying to roll over when I'm changing her!! Thank you again, hopefully I'll be able to sleep a little better!
  • I woke up in the middle of the night and my LO had rolled onto her belly but was face down. I almost had a heart attack!
  • Right there with you!! It was the scariest thing. And she still is doing it...every night!
  • The first 2 nights I didn't even give myself long enough to see if she was face down. I picked her up immediately, it scared me so bad. The last 2 nights, I calmed down and she has had her head tilted. It's still scary!
  • We have a baby monitor with a motion detector attached. It's a flat board you put under baby's mattress. If the baby stops breathing, it vibrates to encourage him/her to breathe. If baby still doesn't start breathing, it sets off a VERY loud alarm to wake you up. It helps give me piece of mind to sleep. I still check on her if I wake up, or if I hear her moving, but I don't worry so much. You might give it a try.
