No cravings of aversions...

maybe I'm still early 10w4d - but I've had no cravings or aversions to food. I've always had a heightened sense of smell - and that may have increased slightly (when my husband comes home after band practice and had a few drinks I feel queasy. And don't get me started on NYC streets and subways in the summer.) But I thought by now I'd be dying to eat something - or stay far away from something else. No real feelings on this either way - just wondering if maybe there's something I don't know about timing of this phase setting in.

Re: No cravings of aversions...

  • It doesn't happen to everyone. Symptoms are completely on a case by case basis. I'm with you on the odors of NYC, bleh.

  • I craved Cocoa Puffs for like three days and then that was it. I haven't craved anything else. :(

  • For my first pregnancy, I practically craved nothing but Captain Crunch and Froot Loops for the entire length of the first trimester and half of the second. The rest of that trimester and the last were cravings for spicy foods. My second pregnancy, I had no cravings or food aversions to anything. Pretty dull, haha. This pregnancy, I have craved junk food while having food aversions to just about anything else that one would consider healthy.

Not everyone gets cravings, aversions, pregnancy sickness, et cetera. It's all hormonal, chemical and so on and holds no meaning over the pregnancy itself, haha. Cravings can indicate something your body is lacking and attempting to extract from any source your mind is subconsciously set on.

  • I have zero cravings and zero morning sickness... However, food aversions - yes! Everything sounds gross and tastes gross too. The one thing that does make me feel nauseous is thinking about eating! I force down a yogurt based smoothie with fresh fruits every morning just because it is good for me.
  • I don't have cravings during the day, but I dream about food almost every night. Every woman, and every single pregnancy is different. Don't stress about the symptoms too much. I barely have any symptoms besides gas, headaches and my bad back.

I don't have any symptoms with this pregnancy and with DD, I lost my symptoms at 9 weeks. They come and go and not everyone experiences them. I've never had a craving or aversion for anything specific, it was more of a "oh I need to eat this" or "meh, that doesn't sound appetizing." That's the extent of mine.

  • Thanks all! I've been nauseous since pretty early on and SUPER sore boobs. Acupuncture helped with nausea. This is my first - so just interested in all the different experiences everyone has. It really is so crazy!

  • Up until this point it's been aversions to everything...but right now I really want a corn dog and some cranberry juice. Last night it was shepherds pie and hubby made it! So satisfying!
