Anyone else scheduled for twice weekly non-stress tests from 33 weeks?

i have borderline high blood pressure that I'm taking a low dose medication for and was told today I would need to come in twice a week from July 6-August 14th for non-stress tests!!!! Has anyone else had this? I had really high blood pressure with my first and only went in for one stress test around 37 weeks!!

  • We go in once a week (started at week 32) for a Bio Ultrasound and NST (just normal procedure for my high risk doc).
  • I have high blood pressure before getting pregnant, but it's been well controlled with medication. I haven't started them yet, but I will be going for twice weekly NST starting next week.
  • I am because I am diabetic. They're no big deal. I asked the same question a few weeks ago before I started them!
  • I started mine last week due to pre-eclampsia.
  • I am, I have high blood pressure so I go every Tuesday for a ultrasound and then a stress test,I'm 32 weeks.
  • Yep, twice a week. It's a pain to get to, but It helps you feel better about the baby's progress/safety in the end.
  • I'm starting mine at 32 weeks. Being 35 and having a previous still birth has made my doctor extra cautious, which is fine by me!
  • I start twice a week monitoring at 32w due to my lifelong type 1 diabetes. While its a lot, I'd rather extra than not enough.
  • I'm on once a week at 30 weeks over here for a thinned cervix with funneling. Woo!
  • I started mine this week (33weeks). Monday & Thursday. I've been put on strict bed rest now, as of today, due to high numbers from my 24 hour urine labs. it's inconvenient to go to the hospital twice a week, but I love getting to see our little man & getting to hear his strong heart so often now.
  • Yup started at 32 weeks due to twins

  • Started them at 32 weeks. I know most people find them reassuring but for some reason I get stressed when I have to go.

I have once per week nst and ultrasound and the perinatologist that started at 30 weeks due to restricted growth caused by blood clots in the placenta. I have factor v leiden and low pappa. They are using these tests to make a delivery decision each week. We know we'll have to deliver early. Maybe that's why they want you in so often?
  • Thank you for all the feedback!! I just wanted to see what others were experiencing because I was a little confused as to why we were being told to do it this pregnancy! With our first I had really high blood pressure that was fairly well managed on meds, but also had protein in my urine, severe swelling and was considered borderline preeclamptic. I ended up in bed rest the last month and having a csection due to the complications to just give my body a rest. I only went in one time with all those issues! This time, I have none of the same issues except my BP has been around 130/80 and now they want me in twice a week with a 2 year old! Lol it's the same dr, just wondering why the difference :)
  • I was told very early on this time I would have to do them again since I had pre-e last time and was therefore at higher risk of developing it again this time.
  • I have weekly non stress test.. Mine started at 29 weeks because my 1 hour glucose test came back high, but I did my 3 hours glucose test and it came back normal but my doctor still wants me to do it, so it's weekly until I give birth.

I am doing weekly non-stress tests, as well. I was a previous csection, so my doctor does it to manage my "high risk" (whatever). He's the best VBAC doctor in our area - I kind of think its more about CYA than being actually necessary. I've grown to love them. It's a half hour where I do NOTHING but sit. With a 2 year old at home, this has become my weekly bliss!!!
  • I started weekly NSTs at 27 weeks due to gestational diabetes. They just discovered an increased resistance in my right uterine artery earlier this week, so now (I'm 31 weeks) I have to go in for NSTs twice a week. My doctor is super cautious with everything. But I rather have her be extra careful than not!
  • Haha @Wering I have a 2 year old at home too! Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong!! Lol
  • I was told that I need to go once per week starting next week for NST & Bio-Physical ultrasound...I wasn't sure why so I asked & was told it's just protocol due to advanced maternal age, but that many other reasons may also cause this to be a necessity as well.
  • Yes, i started going twice a week two weeks ago due to gestational diabetes.
  • I am starting next week @33w, including weekly AFI tests. I had borderline high bp last week. I'm hoping my bp goes down!
