Liars, everyone of them, liars

So, I am finally in my 2nd trimester, the nausea has subsided and I feel semi-human again. However, I have yet to see this increased energy everyone tells us about. If anything, I am more tired and lazier than ever. I have even taken to midday naps, when possible, something that prepregnancy, I couldn't do if I tried. I have come to the conclusion that this energy thing is a bold faced lie told to us by unpregnant people who are, no doubt, whispering and giggling behind our backs that we bought it. Pssh.

  • 14w2d and I am still getting sick in the mornings. I try to eat, but I have to mix it up. After 3 days of PB toast for breakfast its like the baby grows immune to it and I have to try something different. :'-((

  • I couldn't agree more!! I'll be 14 weeks Thursday and I think within this last week I've felt more exhausted then I have through out this whole pregnancy.
  • We must remember these lies and make them pay when we aren't so tired. Maybe in a couple of years. haha

@momoftheflyinglemur I'm so sorry you are still feeling assy. :( That was the worst 3 months of my life. I hope you feel better soon!!!
  • Hah I'm at work and I just texted husband pretty much the same thing. Other symptoms, gone! But last night I could barely keep my eyes open by 9 and it was so hard to drag myself out of bed at 6:30 this morning. So sleepy all the time! I'm hoping to leave here ASAP so I can nap before dinnertime.
  • What else are they lying to us about?!
  • Yes! I was just saying this to my husband! I don't think I was this exhausted when I had mono

I'm almost there, and I'm constantly getting faked out! I feel exhausted so I lounge on the couch then feel a burst of energy. But when I get up and start doing stuff I'm exhausted again! I can't even wash dishes in one sitting! I have to sit for five minutes in the middle!

That keeps happening to me! I get ambitious and 20 minutes later I will sit or lay down ANYWHERE. The floor , a Home Depot shelf, you name it.

I wholeheartedly concur. I feel like my body weighs a ton even just a few hours after getting up. I can't wait for this so called energy to arrive. I will welcome it with open arms.

  • I'm 15 weeks and still exhausted. My two hour garage-sailing spree led to a two hour nap. I never used to be able to nap and now I'm doing it every weekend. Even DH says I still look tired. Maybe it will stop when the kids graduate college.

When I am unpregnant, there will be hell to pay for this betrayal. But right now, I am just too tired to plot revenge.

I agree completely! I'm a few days away from officially being second trimester!! My MS has subsided but does come back with a vengeance every couple days! I'm literally exhausted!!! I couldn't keep my eyes open in the first few weeks, it got better, and now I feel like I can't keep my eyes open again. I'd love some energy back...
  • @CArden74 Noooooo don't tell me that! I am almost to the second tri (I am 13w3d) and was so excited for my MS & exhaustion to be gone!

Ugh, I'm 15 weeks and still waiting on the promised energy. I have occasional bursts when I can't stand the mess and do some cleaning, but it only lasts a little while and then I'm exhausted again. I'm ready to go back to bed the moment I wake up, and am still going to bed at 8:30-9 each night. I just want to have the energy to do something more with my free time than sit on the couch and put frozen dinners in the oven. I miss eating healthy freshly prepared food, but can't work up the motivation to actually make it.
  • I'm a day short of 2nd trimester and just started getting the energy this past weekend. I even went to the gym last night! AND THEN I went and sprained my ankle while trying to water the yard. So, it's back to the couch. Hmph.
  • Yup, still super tired here!! I bet they are lying to us about many things ;)

My favorite is sometimes around 10-11 PM I get a huge surge of energy, like clean the whole apartment kind of energy! :-/

  • I have gotten in a bad habit of waking up then dozing off a couple of hours later then also stealing an afternoon nap. Thankfully I work from home so it's possible but I had no idea my body could sleep so much. I'm more tired 2nd trimester.
  • I'll be 16 weeks on Friday and my MS is gone but I am also even more tired! It's horrible:( I keep waiting and waiting because every time I talk to someone about pregnancy they tell me they got a huge energy boost! I think they forgot what pregnancy is really like! It also doesn't help that I have strep throat right now:(
  • I'm 14 weeks and more tired than ever! But I do remember in my first pregnancy I did get that rush of energy back around the halfway mark! Looking forward to it so I can get back to my housework!

I'm 17 weeks and still exhausted and still throwing up... So yes they are all liars!
  • @tonegirl is clearly in on the scam. Do not trust her.

    ;)
  • YES! I will have so much energy for a couple of hours during the day, but if I actually do something, I get EXHAUSTED right afterward! That could also be due to this awful heat too.
  • Everyone is different, but it got better slowly for me. I'm 17 weeks, and I do have more energy, but it's different. I get ambitious, but I need to take breaks, or a nap. A few weeks ago? Pshhh I was too tired to even foster an ambitious thought. Hang in there, it should get better, but expect that you are still exerting a ton of energy to growing that little human, and you will need to take breaks.

What is this "energy" you speak of? I haven't seen that since the stick told me to expect the stork right after Santa flies by!
  • @CArden74 I'm hearing you!! The nausea subsided, apart from this morning but I let myself get too hungry!! But bam energy levels have plummeted, worse than the first trimester!! I could be in bed at 7:30 every night!!
  • AMEN . I just woke up
    From a 15 hour sleep
  • Ohhhhhh my suspicions are true!!! I'm 12+5 and have been hearing people say that I am on the verge of feeling better for the last 2 weeks....I was so hoping that magical week 14 would come and I would actually be able to 1) eat meat again (or any food besides fruit without throwing up) 2) be able to dry my hair without needing a nap after and 3)have energy to complete any task without taking a break halfway through!!!! I knew it sounded too good to be true.

  • 15 w and I'm just starting to feel better, I owe it to a healthier diet, I wasn't eating overly strict the first tri but have straighted up for the last 2 and feel so much better.
  • 15 weeks. MS subsided last week, but I still get nauseous every once in awhile. But I feel like in the last few days I have suddenly felt pregnant. Like everything is wider. I can't get out of my chair, I get stuck on the floor. It's weird. Definitely still in the exhausted stage though!!! I want to sleep constantly! If only I could lol

  • I'm 16 weeks and I nap everyday when my two year old does. I keep thinking, "Maybe today I'll get things done while he naps." Nope. I'm asleep on the couch until he starts yelling, "Mama!" from his crib.
  • The thing is that I am getting more sleep now than I ever did and am more tired now than ever...

There will be war. As soon as I can actually get started.

  • I can't even sit at my computer at work for more than 20 minutes without feeling my head bob... I have to force myself to do something else in the kitchen until i wake up a bit and come back... All i want to do is sleep
  • Yes! 15 weeks yesterday & I may have dozed off at my desk after lunch yesterday AND went to sleep on the couch at 7:30 last night. It's ridonkulous. I'm. So. Flippin. Tired.

  • THIS. ALL OF THIS. I woke up on day 1 of week 14 expecting to have Popeye levels of energy but nope, nothin. I feel cheated.
  • 16 weeks and finally got my energy back, so hang in there! Again, everyone is different, but I was all "they all lied!" and then bam! I got SO much done in the past two days. More than I have in the past two months.

    Fingers crossed for you!
  • I think this is the first time in my life that I can take a 2 hour nap from 5 pm - 7 pm and still get to bed at 10:30 pm. I'm 15 weeks and really really tired too. My OB said that the fatigue should peak around 9 weeks and then start going away. Lies!
