Hair dye, ammonia free

Can I dye my hair? I had bleached it months ago for my bday but want it back to my natural color. Safe or not? My doctor said its okay but I want your opinions too. Thanks in advance!

    I own a hair salon and haven't had a woman in 15 years have her doc tell her no. I ran it past my doctor as well and she signed off. She WAS concerned about the amount of color I was around on a daily basis for 9 months due to the chemicals. However, we use Matrix Color Insider and Redken for our demi which are both ammonia free. Matrix just came out with an ammonia free bleach as well!
