Had my 41 week appointment today. Scheduled for induction on Monday (41+4). I'm pretty nervous about it.. They said they would do cervadil on Sunday night & hope that active labor begins.. If not, pitocin would be started Monday morning. Really hoping she decides to come before then!
40+1 appt today. A little progress from my 36 week check. Now 2 cen and 90% effaced. My Bishop score is a 10 so my dr said if need be an induction would be fine for me next week. Scheduled my 41 week ultrasound and appt but hoping I won't need to go and my babe will already be here!! But at least there is an end in sight as she said we would induce by the 26 no matter what...
had my appointment today. learned im gbs negative, baby has not dropped (which explains why i cant fricken breathe ever) and that it will not be making an appearance any time soon. poor DH is gonna have to wait :P heh heh. but on the plus side for him it will give us that much more time to do photos which he is really wanting to do.
dr talked about sweeping membranes which im not stoked to think about. i dont mind going over my due date.
My due date is the 30, and I'm really hoping she comes before Canada day (July 1) so I can dress her up in red and white. But I very well could end up being a July mom. Good news is that my cervix was open enough to get a membrane sweep done, but that and everything else I've been trying so far has not worked. I know I still have time, but I'm hoping she'll come before or on the 30.
Had my 39 week appointment this morning. I'm 3cm, 70% effaced & at a -2 position. They said if she hasn't come naturally by my due date (next Thursday the 25th), they'll induce me on Monday the 29th at 5:30am! There's a light at the end of the tunnel!! Whoo hoo!
Downside to the appointment: The doctor was so rough when checking my cervix, I'm now bleeding like I'm on my period. Ugh. Last time he checked me I bled too, but it had basically stopped by now. This time, I'm still bleeding and keep subconsciously thinking I need to buy a tampon lol.
Just got back from my appt and lunch. Had a NST today because I am 1) now overdue and 2) AMA. At issue was whether we would be able to wait thru the weekend or need to induce tomorrow (or sooner). The NST went swimmingly. My appt also went well, but I am still only 1cm dialted, tho cervix is soft. The Dr I saw today doesn't give percentages on how soft (and I forgot to ask), but last week I was 70-75% effaced so it must be at least that. Since we had an 'excellent, happy baby' NST and I am still only 1cm dilated, the decision was made to wait the weekend and hope something happens on its own. But, an induction has been officially scheduled for next Tuesday 6/23 first thing in the morning if I am still pregnant by then. Bonus - my Dr is on duty this weekend, and is the Dr for Tuesday, too. So I should have her no matter what unless I end up in labor on Monday.
So, I may still get my solstice baby, but this week was definitely my last HDBD. :-SS

AWESOME NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad everything went well. So so happy for you! #evictiontimecoming

Ahhh! Yay! Isn't it wonderful when you start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel??
Quick question, what does AMA mean? I keep seeing it but noooo idea
Just left 39+4 apt. Induction set for Tuesday. Not much progress but baby has dropped. My dr doesn't like going over 41 weeks and the hospital was all booked up second half of week.
41 week appointment today...STILL 2cm dilated but my cervix has gotten softer. I was at 50% but didn't get a percent this time and I blanked out on asking. So far the plan is to call labor and delivery tomorrow and make sure they still have room for me to come in Saturday, unless a whole bunch of emergency inductions happen he doesn't see me getting bumped to another day (I really hope not!). I mentioned before he said I had the option of the pill or Foley tube, I was confused since they did two different things, but he cleared it up this time and said since my cervix is already really soft he recommends I go ahead and do the Foley tube. So looks like there is a light at the end of this long tunnel !

41 week appt today. Got checked and found out for the first time I am soft but only 1 measly cm dilated. Surprisingly they didn't try to talk me into inducing and said it was fine if I wanted to wait until my next appointment which will be at 41+6. I got sent over to the hospital for an NST which went very well, and an US to measure fluid which was high at 23. So it seems this babe is locked in for the long haul and just happy where he is.
@Westypet I don't think the pill hurts at all but it's also just for softening your cervix. At this point my issue is that I'm not dilating past 2cm so that's why he's suggesting the Foley. Unless I misunderstood it ?
I am beginning to regret setting up an induction for Tuesday...I will be 40+1 and we only did for beg of week bc hospital was booked. with no complications during this pregnancy, I am wondering if I should call and cancel it- wait it out even after 41 weeks if baby doesn't come. I am torn...just worried since I'm only 1 cm right now induction process will take forever vs trying naturally. Anyone shed some light for me or offer their advice?

I was just discussing this with a friend yesterday because I'm also now passed my due date and my doctor said next week we would be discussing induction options if baby still hasn't arrived. My friend was very encouraging about letting nature take it's course and not to jump quickly on the induction option quicker than necessary, and referred to her second pregnancy when she was induced shortly after 41 weeks and didn't have a positive birth experience.
It's been nearly three years and she still feels guilty that she didn't advocate more to wait a few more days. The induction made for a long and stressful labour, on her and the little guy. It's clearly not everyone's experience with inductions, but it seems to increase the chances.
There is no right or wrong answer, but i think it's great that you're considering your options rather than just taking the first recomendation of your doctor. He might be use to assuming most full term woman opt for the induction, rather than it being because he would have any concerns about having you wait the extra few days! Best of luck either way!
@MurLindzz thanks for your input. I believe I am going to call and ask if I can push it back a week. Just a gut instinct telling me to. I'm terrible, terrible at making big decisions (or even small ones like what rug to buy!) so it's been a difficult morning stressing out. Hoping I can get through the office ASAP this morning.
Went for my 39 week appointment this morning. LO is still breech and showing no signs of moving, so we will meet him as planned at the c section on Monday. I'm sort of glad because when they checked me she said there is absolutely nothing going on and that if he wasn't breech I'd likely be pregnant for 2-3 more weeks. No thanks.
Due date today! Went for my 40w appointment and 3cm (up from nothing last week) and 70%. Did a membrane sweep. I've been having pretty consistent contractions for days now but this definitely kicked them up a notch. We'll see if it leads to anything. Waiting on a call for induction date as well... Just hoping I go on my own before that
Moved my induction date from Tue 6/23 to Tue 6/30. Gives me time to possibly get some sort of things rolling (no symptoms at all of labor being close). Feel so much better about not rushing it.
I just got back from my appointment and I am dilated to 4cm which is apparently good progress for a FTM. I am 40 weeks exactly today and they allowed me to schedule an induction for tomorrow (this past week has been miserable)!!! They will start an unmedicated induction by simply breaking my water and then move forward with pitocin if necessary. I am so excited to meet our little one!!
@Mommaswizz & @JessHeppell I'm also due date twins with you. Just had my 38+3 appointment and looks like I'll be hanging out to the end as well. No progress. I'm feeling the same way!
This is my 4th and doc said my body is behaving more like it's my first since it's been so many years (16 since my last). I'm freaking out a bit for a few reasons. I actually feel a mini meltdown coming on...
1. I'm 40 and do not want to go past my due date now that I know there is a risk of placenta deterioration being a AMA momma.
2. Doc said that because LO has not dropped, my cervix is high and I'm not dilated to but a 1 that induction is not a good option at this point. He said it could more than likely end in c-section after a potentially long labor. He said he doesn't want to put me through that.
3. Had ultrasound to get her approx weight, due to being borderline GD. She is already measuring at 8.5 lbs. While I know this can be off, my last was 8.3 and I was 8.6 so thinking there is a good possibility that she's gonna be a big girl.... just worried.
4. If my body is behaving like it's my first... am I in for a long hard labor like my first? Bring on the drugs!!!! I was hoping for an easier time with number 4.
I have an appointment early next week to see if we have made any progress and discuss options. May end up going the c-section route. More to come...
Going to treat myself to a much needed pedicure and a nice dinner to fend off the meltdown.
We are all due date buddies. I had my appointment today at 38+5. 3 cm's dilated, very soft, head is on the cervix. Did a membrane sweep, made me lose my mucous plug and lots of other bleeding (which sent me to maternity triage as I freaked out) and am in early labor. Contractions are getting stronger. Possibly by end of weekend for me.
@asd&rwp Thoughts and prayers with you, hopefully baby comes so you can avoid the induction have you tried anything to help move things along?
Thank you! I had been trying everything for a couple weeks (walking, sex, pineapple, nipple stimulation, evening primrose) with no luck. But she's here! Consistent strong contractions started the night of my appointment (Wednesday) at home around 11:30 PM.. I called the hospital and they told me to come in, got there at 1:15 AM. They checked me and I was 4-5 cm. The nurse accidentally broke my water (it was bulging) when she checked me. And, our second daughter was born at 4 AM! It was pretty fast and furious.. But I feel so blessed with a healthy baby and I was able to succeed in my plan for a natural birth free of pain meds or any intervention.
@asd&rwp that's amazing and wonderful! I'm so happy for you! I am planning for a natural birth free of meds and interventions as well. I am 39+5 today and have an apt on Tuesday to see where things are at if I haven't gone into labor by then. Hopefully baby boy decides to come before then *crosses fingers* And again I'm so happy for you and your bundle of joy
@rachelkaylene thank you!! Good luck at your appointment tomorrow! Sending you lots of positive thoughts. I hope baby comes very soon and I hope labor goes as planned
Had my 39 week appointment today, baby is still sunny side up, and I'm not dilated even a little and hardly effaced. Dr. said that at my next appointment (40 weeks) we will be 'making plans'
Re: Weekly appointments thread
iamthewalrus2 haha that was my intended meaning, that it is there for emergency purposes but you are not actually hooked up to any saline or fluids.
klkonwi Knowledge is power!
but on the plus side for him it will give us that much more time to do photos which he is really wanting to do.
dr talked about sweeping membranes which im not stoked to think about. i dont mind going over my due date.
Whoo hoo!
