We had a baby boom around our office, and I've noticed a couple of us seem to have no problem with people holding the baby, and others make it clear (without verbally saying anything) that it's hands off. (For the record, the babies are usually 2-4 months old). What's your position?

Re: Poll: How did/do you feel about people holding your DC as a baby?
Totally depends on the person & my mood.
Now that he's independant of me, it's hard to bite my tongue when people pick him up that really shouldn't be. Grandparents, fine. Close friends, fine. Aquaintences - you don't need to pick up my Toddler to say hello.
I have to give the disclaimer that I had preemies so we were discouraged from taking the kids in public or having anyone other than a well family member hold our kids for the first 8 months to a year because of their under developed immune systems. So that is why I would be bothered by someone holding my kids. It was a legit health concern.
If someone tried to hold one of them now, like a baby, I think my kids would tear their face off. They don't like to be held any more.
Natalie's a happy girl and goes to anyone...so I have let everyone hold her. I brought her into the office at about 2 weeks old and let everyone (in my team) hold her if they wanted to. I'm not a germaphobe or anything like that so I'm all for letting everyone have a turn.
But I totally respect other people who don't like letting others hold their kid...it's their choice so I don't say anything.
