I had my membranes swept and went into labor 2 days later. Granted, I was only like 2 cm dilated for 20 of my 25 hours of labor, but I was definitely in labor haha.
I tried walking last night. Around 9:30, I had what felt like a contraction. I paced for around a minute barely able to walk and talk and felt my entire stomach get hard. Then it stopped and came back 10 min later. I asked DH to go on a walk with me. We walked for around an hour and I had these weird contractions lasting 1 min 24 sec every 7-8 minutes. They would hurt like bad menstral cramps and radiated to my back. I swore it was labor. We got home and I ate some watermelon and I took a shower before laying down just in case we needed to go to the hospital. The contractions stopped. I did sleep like a baby last night. I never had to get up to go to the bathroom and only woke once to pick up my meowing kitten. Best night's sleep in a long time!
I have my OB appointment today so I'll mention it but so upset my body fooled me. At least I know it is preparing for the big day
@kresla I know how you feel girl! I have started taking evening walks to try and see if that jump starts anything or at least builds up some endurance for when labor does start, Ill go for a walk and about half way through ill start contracting and then once Im done with the walk an hour or so later they subside, I wish this little boy would get the hint and decide to make his way out already but soon enough.
Have you invested in an exercise ball or tried any other natural ways to bring upon labor?
We walked, did a short hike. Came home did some sex, doggy style, and when none of that worked, we went to my inlaws for dinner (we didn't want to tell anyone when it was time to go in case it wasn't the real deal). When contractions started fast and furious, we had to fess up, since it was late and we had to leave DS with them for the night.
A huge thunderstorm also rolled through that afternoon. Maybe that did it.... We'll never know.
@rachelkaylene I've only walked. I thought about buying an exercise ball tonight. It's really uncomfortable to have sex but I thought of trying after the appointment tonight and onward. I hope I've progressed. I was at 2 cm 50% effaced and -2 stage last Thursday.
@kresla that's the same I am at as far as progress. the exercise ball helps a lot with back pain and I sit on it when sitting on the couch or chairs is uncomfortable. I am going on another walk tonight (I would hike but I live in Texas where everything is super flat) and I started taking EPO one in the morning and one at night to help ripen my cervix, hopefully all these little nudges, nudge this boy right on out. I know none of its proven but anything to nudge him along or at least so I feel like im doing something haha.
I bought my exercise ball at target for under $20 so it wasn't bad at all and is wonderful if not to help along labor then at least for comfortable place to sit.
@mcall35 how did you tell the contractions were really labor vs BH or just contractions that weren't really going anywhere.
@rachelkaylene The only thing proven that I have found is sex, but only when you are about to go into labor anyway. I guess the semen just makes it go a bit faster. Even walking is iffy. It helps progress labor but I've also read that the contractions brought on by walking usually go away when you stop. I think a lot of these are useful to help us get our mind off of it and focus on other things. Then when labor is brought on, we feel like we had a part in it.
@kresla true that makes complete sense, either way it gets my mind off of it and makes me feel like I am being proactive and doing something haha which is always good.
Went on an hour and half long walk and now sitting on my brand new exercise ball. Had my OB today and still at 2 cm 50% effaced but baby has dropped. He said what I experienced sounded like true contractions. My body is wanting to go into labor but isn't quite there yet!
Nothing brings on labor. I'm 40 weeks and 3 days today. I eat spicy food 2x a day at least. I walk for 40 minutes daily. My husband and I have had sex every day the last four days. I have been thinned cervix since 36 weeks. And the day after my due date it was only dilated to 1cm. My baby's head is low and right on the cervix. I've tried the ball as I am a personal trainer and spend all day sitting and bouncing on it while I'm training people. I have done leg workouts. Squats. The bike that sits you way back almost like a labor position. Everything..... Nothing works.... If you go into labor it's because ur body said its time.

I walked a ton & used the exercise ball all weekend before I was induced this Monday. When I went in Sunday night to get a cervical ripener, I was already having contractions (early labor, not painful & they were erratic). They didn't do the ripener & started pit at 6. She was already super low & ready to go that morning too! I think walking & exercise ball, while they didn't start labor, they sure helped!!!

For me, I never really had BH. I suppose I got one here and there, but they were never notable. My actual contractions came at regular intervals and got more intense as time went on. They also continued whether I was sitting, standing or lying down.
Give it up folks. @itsshayday I like your style, but don't miss another check in.... I was sure you were having your baby 17 min ago.........lol
I'm aware that I've missed 172.8 more check ins, however.... I'm still funking pregnant.
I'm at an impasse because tomorrow is the day that I for some reason feel in my heart is my true, actual due date, even though my midwife disagrees... (What would she know, anyhow) but if I try thunder-humping while eating pineapple and simultaneously stimulating my nipples and walking through target, I will have to find someone to cover all my hours at work for this week...

@itsshayday how have I missed your posts all this time...you are hysterical.
I think my shyness is so far gone I will just say/do anything at this point. If you see a news story about a Kansas city woman giving birth butt naked in her front yard.... It's because I'm so far gone with this pregnancy that I've lost all modesty and sensibility.

Ladies who are using a breast pump to try and start labor, be careful. That is something that generally needs to be done under supervision, since it can bring on some pretty serious contractions. It certainly can help (if you and your baby are ready) but shouldn't be done alone.I know it is one of the methods my midwives use, but only if the mama is at the birthing center and can be watched. Just a thought.
With my first I ate a lot of curry the week he was born and got acupuncture. I think what finally did it was the membrane sweep, but given that I was 41+6, I think anything would have pushed us over the edge.
Blessed Mama to the sweetest boy in the world (11/9/13), one angel baby, and two fur babies: Mattie Dog and Stanley Cat.
Let's see I've had spicy mexican tuesday, chinese food yesterday, just sent DH out to get McDonalds (my first in at least 2 years. i'm so excited). Been drinking lots of raspberry leaf tea and pineapple juice. If this doesn't work, i'm off the food items. Might need to give sex another try. Maybe back to bouncing on the exercise ball? I'll need it after all the shit i'm eating. Wah wah wah!
@Mommaswizz don't forget the Dawn. As it appeared to be highly effective for @westypet. Enjoy your MickyD's. I unfortunately ate way to much of it. I had all the plans to eat organic and juice... such nice plans they were. Ohh the guilt and shame! X_X
Aww @hissunshinelove don't feel guilt or shame, just cause i had a mcdonalds hiatus doesn't mean i havent gorged on ice cream nearly every day. I figured i would have been a healthier pregnant lady but slurpees and raisinets won every time lol. I'm almost 90 mins post Mickey D's and still no baby. I guess i need a long walk tonight despite how much i'm dreading it because of painful pelvic pressure.
Never though i'd be this antsy to get this baby out. I can't take any more texts or phone calls asking about where this child is. BRING ON BABY TIME

I was 39 weeks.

I'm not doing anything else, I'm burnt out. She has all day today to show up and if not, she's getting an eviction notice tomorrow!!
I'll update every seventeen minutes with results.
Still pretty pregnant.
