Pregnant after 35

Bleeding after sex TMI...obviously :-)

So last night we had sex, and afterwards there was a bit of pink blood when I wiped. I put a pad on went to sleep, and then this morning there has been some brown spotting.

I know this can be completely normal and meaningless or it can mean something else.

Baby is kicking around normally, and I have no cramping or pain.

I have an appointment with my mw scheduled for next week. Is it reasonable to lay off the sex, and just ask her about it when I see her, assuming that nothing like increased bleeding or cramping happens? Or should I be more concerned?

I don't want to be THAT client endlessly ringing my mw having a panic over nothing, but equally don't want to miss something important.

Thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Bleeding after sex TMI...obviously :-)

  • That's a tough question for non-specialists... I'd think little spotting should be fine. But if you have actual bleeding - i'd run to see the doctor.  And i'd think calling isn't a bad thing anyway?

  • No it wasn't actual bleeding. Just when I wiped, the pad I put on last night was completely clean when I woke up, and it was never bright red just pink.

The brown spotting has stopped now.

I know other ladies that have had that happen and it ends up being nothing, just due to increased blood flow, hormonal issues ect, I'm a born again virgin at the moment because my skin is really sensitive in that area and I get tearing very easily and spotting as a result. I'd probably call anyway, don't worry about being "that" person, always better to have piece of mind.

  • sounds like a little cervix irritation.  Since it was a tiny amount with no cramping etc I would not have sex again until after you see your dr...just in case.  But I don't think its anything to call in about or anything like that.

I am 6 weeks and had sex a few days ago. I had some pink spotting followed by two sharp pangs of cramps. The next day I was fine and doing well today which is about 5 days later.
  • I'd call your doctor and let them know, see what they say. Pregnant cervixes are sensitive, so I'm sure it's nothing.
  • Hi Ladies, thanks for your thoughts. In the end I just kept an eye on things, there was no increased bleeding, or crmaping and baby kept moving normally.

So I didn't have sex until I spoke to my mw at my appointment who agreed that it was normal, and not to be concerned unless there was bright red bleeding.

All is well! The baby is measuring perfectly healthy at 6w 6d with a hb of 105. Doc thought spotting might be implantation bleeding common around this time. Had to get a Rhogram shot since I'm 0- but all in all it was a very happy OB visit.
  • @Erinka great news!!
