Middle name for Kenzie

I am looking for something feminine, preferably a name that ends in a. We have a short common last name, so a longer name is fine. Some names considered, Elizabeth (SO not crazy about it), Elise or Elisa (not sure I like the way it sounds together or the difference ways of pronouncing Elisa). SO likes Aliyah, but me, not so much. Any suggestions?

  • I am worried about that but SO has his heart set on the name and thinks it will grow with her. I don't have any other first names that I absolutely love either. I know Elizabeth is nice but I have a sister with that name, and I wouldn't want to seem like I wanted to honor her over my other sisters.
  • I have a Kenzley and we call her Kenzie some times. Her middle name is Faith. Idk if that helps at all.

I'm not a fan of this name, but you could use McKenzie. It sounds a bit more grown up and your SO could use Kenzie as a nickname.

  • Nothing goes with  Kenzie
  • Kenzie is cute as nickname for a child, but I can't imagine in the work world introducing myself as "Kenzie." I agree with using Mckenzie instead.

  • I agree that naming her McKenzie would be nice. I can't imagine a 40 year old CEO introducing herself as "Kenzie." Give the poor girl the option of a formal name.

    McKenzie Claire
    McKenzie Faith
    McKenzie Jane
    McKenzie Hope
    McKenzie Elise
  • Would Kendra be an option?

Kenzie really isn't a proper name. If you really want that to use that, I would at least have it be a nickname for Mackenzie. Mackenzie Elise would be pretty. I think you would definitely need a more classic name to offset it, in case she wants to go by that some day.

    Other suggestions:

    Mackenzie Alice
    Mackenzie Brooke
    Mackenzie Claire
    Mackenzie Diane
    Mackenzie Elaine
    Mackenzie Jane
    Mackenzie Lauren

Now that name has dignity. And Kenzie is a perfectly acceptable nn for Kendra.

It's like somebody i know who named their kid "Kizzy" and i'm just wondering if the guy is trying to raise a stripper.
  • I know a Kenzie Rose and she is the sweetest. Her mom almost named her Kenzie Iris.

While it isn't my favorite name AT ALL, it is derived from a Gaelic surname and is a widely used and recognized name. I am not a fan of using surnames as first names, but I find Mackenzie preferable to Kenzie.
  • Thanks for the input! I guess I will look over baby name books for the hundredth time and hope something jumps out at me

  • May I ask your ethnicity? I think there are some lovely Italian/Greek rooted girl names that would pair nicely with Dominic but you may not want to go that way if you're not of Mediterranean ancestry.

    EDD for #1: 3/19/17
  • I agree with the others, Dominic is such a great name and your daughter deserves a great name too. Get rid of Kenzie and tell your partner to move on from it. I tried to think of names that have the same feel as Kenzie but it tough.

Alexis (Call her Lexi. It's kind of like Kenzie but better.)

Love love love Penelope nn Poppy. We are one and done but I told DH how much I loved this once and he laughed at me. But I love it and if we weren't OAD and we're having a girl, I think I'd persuade him since he chose DS's name.
  • You know, Penelope isn't really my style but I love the nn Poppy. It's just adorable.

  • I like Poppy. But whenever I say it in my head, it is in the voice of the Wicked Witch of the West from the wizard of oz. She just cackles "Poppies" so evil-y that I hear it like that in my head. Every. Time.

If I replace Kenzie, it doesn't need to have/be a nickname. I do like the name kiera, but prefer the spelling Ciara. However I'm guessing that would be a confusing spelling.

You say the name Kendra has dignity, and in the same breath talk about strippers...the only person I've ever heard of named Kendra was one of the Playboy Bunnies. I don't disagree that Kendra is a perfectly nice name, I just thought it was funny that thatassociation wasn't noticed.
