starting to have the worst heartburn in the world! I found that slushies help stop the pain temporarily. What helps you with your heartburn?

Re: Heartburn from Hell!

  • If it's as bad as mine...my OB gave me a prescription for Zantac...it helps! You can use Pepcid too

  • Thank you!
  • Tums and milk right afterwards. It helps my brothers too
  • Apple cider vinegar shot, sounds and tastes horrible, works almost immediately for me every single time.
  • I have heartburn really badly too, I even wake up in the middle of the night with it. I use tums, helps but I don't like that floury taste in my mouth so I usually suffer until it goes away by itself.
  • For medicine I use tums, and also have one right before bed because I was getting heartburn every time I rotated to fend off hip pain. I snack on sour dough pretzels to soak up the acids, there's my theory anyway. It helps me.
  • My Dr gave me an rx for prevacid which I think you can also get over the counter. Zantac quit working for me after a while. I can use Tums if needed, but as long as I take the prevacid an hour before dinner, 95% of the time I'm good. I noticed an effect immediately, but it still took a few days to kick fully kick in. Before this, I had heartburn so bad I was throwing up at 2 am
  • My doctor recommended Prevacid OTC and it works wonders!
  • Apple Cider Vinegar makes mine worse, as does ginger, which was suggested to me as a natural remedy. I take Zantac and tums. I also don't eat past 6:00 pm or I wake up with reflux. Water gives me horrible heartburn, so I drink decaf sun tea.

  • I recently started trying a pinch of dissolved baking soda in water. Just have to be careful don't do too much and make sure it's dissolved. I think the side of the box says 1/2 a teaspoon but a pinch (or 1/8) works just fine also. It's been amazing for me since the tums seem to have stopped working.
  • Pickles! Dill pickles. No joke. :)
  • I agree with several posts above! Dill pickles or just the juice. Apple cider vinegar. Baking soda and water. Although a small amount of water because sometimes water can make it worse!
  • I pretty much eat fruit cereal, yogurt and granola and drink water, not a meat person right now but yeah out of all that granola and water seem to trigger it:( I'll definitely be trying yalls remedys! Thank you(:

Milk everything and tums is what I'm living off of.

ETA: I've also been using DH's airplane pillow to prop my head up a little as I get the acid reflux in the middle of the night. That helps too.
  • Tums and apple cider vinegar. My heartburn has just started to kick in this pregnancy, (I am 28 weeks 1 day). Last time it was so bad by now I had to literally sleep with my upper body propped up on like 8 pillows to get any nightime relief! Suck! hopefully some of these suggestions help mama:)
  • Thanks everyone for these suggestions! I'm suffering from this as well. It's been keeping me up at night, every time I change position that heartburn and acid reflux burns the shiz out of my throat...it's awful. Heading to the store to get apple cider vinegar! Thanks again!
  • Pickle juice! The best! :)

@yessirio oh my really? Sounds gross lol. Worth a try though for some relief, just no kissing hubby after ;-)
tums don't work but milk does, gonna need a cow out back if i carry on drinking so much :-)
  • A couple weeks ago I was waking up choking in the middle of the night due to acid reflux.  At the height of that, avoiding bending over, using a wedge pillow, and taking the max allowed Tums helped a lot.  I'm still sleeping on a wedge pillow and taking 1-2 Tums before bed.
