I had mine this morning too. Felt sick, but nothing happened until after they took my blood. I have never done well when they draw my blood after I fast and I almost passed out a couple of minutes after they finished. Cold sweat, fuzzy vision, nausea, everything. Luckily there was a chair nearby. I do think the drink made it worse than normal though.
I don't think it necessarily means that you have GD. Hope you get good results!
With my first I got tunnel vision and almost passed out after about 30min. I went to the washroom to sit down and breathe. I ended up passing the test though.
No it doesn't mean you have GD. My mom was gagging taking one of the many she did (she had to do the 3 hour for all 5 of us ) and she said just remembered the nurse saying she better not throw up or she will have to do it again. She never was diagnosed with GD just always on the line.
I felt horribly shaky, dizzy and weak afterwards. I was close to fainting. I had to lay down and take a nap, and I never nap. I felt nauseous during the three hour (but passed with flying colors). Did you make it past the blood draw or do you have to do it again?
No it doesn't. If you fasted and then chugged all that sugary junk and then got blood drawn... no wonder it makes a lot of people feel ill. I never threw it up but it sure did make me feel wretched and shaky.
I tried to do mine on Monday. Drank the drink and puked it all up 40 min later. They didn't draw blood and said I had to come back and do it again. I went back Wednesday am and did it and made it the full hour. I don't know my results yet but I too was thinking maybe I have GD or maybe it just didn't sit will with my stomach that am. I guess I will find out soon. Good luck to you.
I took mine on Monday, and afterwards I was pretty dizzy and exhausted. When I got home I took a nap because I wasn't feeling well. I got my results back this morning and I passed! However, my hemoglobin levels were a little low, so that may explain it. Hopefully your results are good!
I felt like GARBAGE after mine! I had to lay down for the last few minutes of the test because I felt like I was going to throw it up or hit the ground, but I passed mine!
I made it past the first blood draw and was sick after that. There was still another draw later but the guy didn't seem to think it mattered. I'll flag it with my doctor when I see him next week. Hopefully I don't need to re-test, that was awful!
Take protein with you that you can eat the moment they are done. Even a PBJ is better than nothing. And have a bottle of water, too. That helps you to get over the blood sugar drop.
I took the first glucose test two days ago and it made me super nauseous, I had elevated levels so I was supposed to do the three hour today, I managed to hold it in for an 45 minutes but then it all came up I go back on Monday to try again, this time they'll give me anti nausea meds to take before hand. So hopefully I can keep it down next time! It didn't even taste bad, just like Hawiian punch, I just get sick when I don't eat. My poor arms though, they stuck me in both arms the first time and then once today and now I'll have to be stuck four times on Monday! My veins are really going to hurt.
After I drank mine I read the bottle and it listed all of the above you ladies mentioned as possible side effects of drinking it. Definitely doesn't mean you have GD! Feeling extremely blessed, as I was feeling nauseous before I drank it and actually felt BETTER after drinking it. Knowing my luck, THAT'S the sign that I might have it! Ha! They said they would call today if I had to do the 3-hour, but their office closed a half hour ago and no call. Wahoo!
Huh. I did mine this morning too and didn't feel much of anything. Maybe mildly nauseous. My doctor said that I didn't have to fast though and I had eaten a packet of almonds about a half hour before the test. Still really nervous that I won't pass.
I had mine this morning. I didn't even make it 20 minutes and it all came back up. They said I could try again with a non-fasting test and eat protein before I come in, but I can't take another day off short notice. So, I am going to see a nutritionist to borrow a home monitor (we just have to pay for the test strip etc.). We are going to monitor my blood sugar at home until my next appointment instead. I like take Idea a lot better, because I still don't feel good from drinking that stuff and I don't want to go through that again. My doctor told me it doesn't mean I didn't pass at all. Also, I think we are going a different route with me because I've had morning sickness the whole pregnancy and eating sugary things is one of the triggers.
I had my test last thursday.. 3 hours.. I got there.. they drew my blood. I drank the orange drink. get outside to my car. felt fine. sat in there for 30 to 40 mins. got really sick. threw it all up outside. went back in when my hour was up. they took my blood again.. then after I told them I threw it up. so they told me I couldn't continue. but I went to my prenatal Visit the same day. and my test came out good. b4 the drink I was 80 after I was 114.
Re: Sick at glucose Test...
My doctor told me if I needed to eat beforehand to eat protein, not carbs. It wasn't a fasting test, so I made some eggs about two hours beforehand.
I hope I hear by Wednesday of next week. She said it would take 2-3 days.
