First US and the anxiousness level has dropped

I had my first appointment today and ultrasound and I feel so much better. With my last pregnancy (which was also my first) we saw the HB but it was low (in the 90s and she wanted it over 120) and the NP pretty much told me that the baby wouldn't make it. I MC less than a week later. I found a new office and this time they did 3 blood draws with my HCG doubling on schedule and got me in for an early US to help ease my fear and anxiety. The tech was worried she wouldn't be able to find anything due to that my cycles aren't regular and I probably wasn't even a full 6 weeks yet. They machine couldn't get a full measurement but she said I was in the mid to late 5 week range and was really surprised when she got a 117 HR. I go back on 6/29 and hopefully the heart will be much stronger and we can hear the little one.

So far everything for this little one is looking much better and I feel a lot better. The NP also calmed me down, letting me know I wasn't crazy and that it is normal to be scared especially after how my last loss was handled. She said if the spotting gets worse to call immediately and that she wants me on full pelvic rest until she sees me again. I feel so much calmer now that I feel like someone actually cares about me and this process instead of just being a number on their list.

  • Sounds like a  much better experience this time around. With my first m/c, I did not like how the dr handled it. He was nice and compassionate but during weeks of spotting, he wrote it off like it was nothing (despite voicing my concern over and over) and then I ended up loosing the baby. Needless to say, I didn't stick with him. The dr really does make a difference!! So happy this little one is already over-achieving :)
