Things that NOBODY warned me about.

Being a FTM I've had many women warn me or give advice about the usual: headaches, sore boobs, morning sickness, leaky boobs and vag (sorry no way of making it sound better), low or heightened sex drive, etc. No one had ever mentioned to me about how amazing food tastes! Any of you mamas experiencing things nobody had mentioned to you?

  • Sacroiliac pain. From the first trimester on.

  • @Growingapepper I feel the same way! I keep hurting my abdomen when I try to get up.
  • No one told me how uncomfortable eating would make me!!! Anytime I eat a meal, I feel like I'm going to be physically sick I feel so full (even if it's not a big meal!) It would have been nice to be warned about that!

This. I can't even eat as much as I did prior to pregnancy because of how quickly I get full. It's crazy.

I'm editing my post because it sounded much brattier than I meant it...what I meant to say was that all my mommy friends and family filled me in on lots of gory and gross 'what to expect' stuff. I'm sure there's lots more in store!
  • Feet! My feet have grown at least half a size. I was walking my dog 6 miles and we were 3 miles out turning around when I realized my shoes simply weren't fitting weird that day but were actually too small - thought it was swelling, nope. Trip to the shoe store! (Silver lining - great new runners on sale!)

No one ever told be about the itchy bellybutton. It's slowly coming out and every time I bump it or my shirt touches it the wrong way it tickles.
  • Yes. Nobody tells you that you're uterus will make your vagina hurt so bad that it feels like it's just going to fall out of your body. Or that you might start to grow hairs under your chin!? I would have sure like a warning about that
  • All the mucus nasal vaginal was not explained. The pain like I've been riding a horse all day and the sore muscles in the front where bladder is. Some days it's so hard to bring my knees up to get changed from pain.
  • I had no idea I would become a small baby myself.

Can't self soothe to get to bed, don't know that I overate until I spit up, diaper rash, out growing my clothes quickly, I'm colicky, leaking from almost everywhere...and I just want my husband to hold me all the time. Also, the SMALLEST things make me giggle, coo and sometimes cry.

That's the cutest funniest thing I've ever heard!
  • @aprilmay92 and @Growingapepper I just love this board!!!!

    =)) =)) =)) --> :x --> :-S (Hormonal cry!)
  • No one told me how jiggly and flubby my belly would be after birth. I was in shock and depressed over it but it did eventually go back to normal.
  • No one warned me fully how different pregnancy can be for each child. My first was an easy pregnancy compared to this one! Sick from 3 weeks till 13 or so and way worse depression this time, he's so low already! Peed myself this time which didn't happen the first time... yeah so many different things! Oh and I'm having to use eye drops cause my eyes are dry and I had to get a stronger prescription haha yeah so many many things haha

@barrelocarol :)) Bahahaha! I made a very similar rant the other day! All true! Maybe it's so we will be more sympathetic to our children lol
  • Constipation was NEVER mentioned, headaches, the belly weakness, I just feel so weak and flimsy.
  • Hmm. For me it's more like I heard all about it but since I got so lucky with not getting morning sickness I thought nothing else would be "what everyone makes it out to be". That being said. I can't complain much. Getting out of bed is hard but it's not a big problem overall. Being hot and easily uncomfortable from sitting have been the most annoying. Also I was excited for bigger boobs but now I'm cursing them because wearing a bra has caused like permanent pain on my bra line. Ugh. Went out and bought bra strap extenders and will prob grow out of those too. Bleh. The one good but weird thing I hadn't thought about is feeling her move around. I always knew about feeling kicks but never thought twice about feeling her move all the time. It's a strange but wonderful feeling.

Nobody told me the doctor will stick a q-tip all over your butthole at 36 weeks to check for strep b?!?!?! How have I never heard of this?! AWKWARD & I wil make sure everything is shaved nice.

    Wait, they do WHAT???
I felt the same way!!! I always ask my Dr. About what's coming up...and he mentioned it.....I about fell over. We had a good laugh at my reaction, too. So I started asking friends and they said yes, it does happen! HOW has nobody mentioned this before. Ha!
  • That the stairs I used to fly up in 4 inch heels at the office 12 + times a day, by six months would feel as though I was climbing Mount Everest.
  • I know we've all talked about it, but the loss of the ability to groom myself. I just laugh/cried in the shower at how ridiculous, funny, terrifying going in blind really was.
