Husband, boyfriend, baby father, sperm donor... Whatever he is to you..

Anyways we're close to giving birth and at times your SO may say some dumb things...

My husband and I were talking about shopping for baby clothes and he said "newborns don't wear clothes, don't you just swaddle them in blankets" Oh My God! I was about to die ... In my head I'm like common sense! /:) I just wanted to wish he was joking sadly he wasn't ...

I understand this is his first time being a dad but common really?? Anything your man said shocking or funny to you?

In some countries they do just swaddle the baby for the first few weeks. Eg Ukraine. Maybe he was just being worldly....!

My SO says funny things like "omg we're the worst parents already... You mean you haven't packed your hospital bag?! What shall we do!!!" (He's messing around).

But my husband idk if he never been around new borns lol he didn't think there's clothes for newborns ...

DS spent about a week or week and a half in a diaper with a blanket around him. It was so much easier to change him and get in skin to skin time and he was warm and cozy in his blanket so we didn't worry about clothes. This baby will probably be very similar, especially with the summer heat.

My hubby still can't wrap his head around the concept if a blow out lol...he's like "isn't that why they have a diaper on? What's the point if the diaper if it's just gonna go everywhere?! How does it get on their back like that?!" lol...he will learn

My husband also struggles with the concept of a blowout. He also doesn't understand that unlike adults they often have to have their closed changed more than 1 time per day. So he keeps saying we don't need to buy any clothes. Our parents have given us a lot of clothes and it does look like a lot but it's in a huge range of sizes so I keep saying we need to wash them and sort what we have so we know what we still need to buy. He is like, we don't need to buy anything!

As a FTM who hasn't been around a lot of tiny babies, I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed figuring out what we'll need in terms of clothes. I'd say cut him some slack and remember it's going to be a big learning process for both of you.

My husband only has younger sisters all his brothers are older with #1 he didn't believe me when I said keep his parts covered when changing so he didn't get showered. 1st night home he received a lesson.

My husband is convinced that this baby is going to come out walking and talking. He doesn't see him as being an infant at all and only talks about how they are best friends and all the things they are going to do together (play catch, team up on mommy). He hasn't really been around newborns so has never changed a diaper and also is struggling with the fact that they need more than a few outfits!

Not only that but he just keeps telling me he is going to hold this baby for the next 9 months (even when he is breastfeeding) because I got to hold him this whole time I've been pregnant!

My husband was terrified to do anything but hold our son when he was born, tiny babies make him so nervous. He couldn't stand pulling onesies on over the baby's head because he said it felt too tight, he actually asked me if he could cut all the onesies at the neck so he could pull them on easier!! I said no way, suck it up and pull it on!! Haha

I told my SO that I wasn't leaking as much as I did with my first. (from the boob) I leaked a lot for months before actually giving birth to my first son. This time I can squeeze and a little bit will come out. But that's it.

So I said I think I'm going to have less milk with this baby than I did with the other.

He took that as that means I'm switching to formula.

So when I mentioned that we needed to get a pump a while ago. He said "why? You're not producing"

Which pissed me off. I was like, I haven't even had the baby yet! My milk WILL come in.

My husband has said a few ridiculous things ... But the best one had to be when he suggested that we could probably just have the baby at home since he delivered countless calves growing up.
My response "did you just refer to me as a cow?!?!" Ha ha bless his heart

These are funny

My fiancé who's family have a farm thought that baby's come out by someone pulling them out by their arms and head like lambing a ewe..... then they get disinfectant sprayed on the cord to dissolve it once it is cut.... he said if we don't make it to the hosp 35miles away he can do it...... needless to say I had to explain a few things to him!!

My husband is Persian and has an accent. I am used to it now but to others I guess it's kind of thick. Hubby said to me "I hope our son has my accent so he can pick up chicks as easy as I did!" I had to remind him English will be our son's first language and he's growing up in the US lol like he might say some stuff like his dad, but he's not going to have an accent out of the womb!

With my first my husband was still going to school and I started having contractions on a Saturday night, I called my doctor when I was having 4 every 10 minutes for over an hour (at about 10am on Sunday) and she told me it was time to go to the hospital, I walked to our bedroom and told him we needed to go and he just stared and me for 30 seconds and said "but I still have to finish my homework for tomorrow" ... Dude, you're not going to school tomorrow ...

We were discussing when he should take off of work and he responded "well maybe I'll give you a couple days to get in a routine. Then we can relax" I peed my pants laughing so hard. He just doesn't get that there will be no relaxing for a very long time.

I just had an ultrasound and the tech told us the baby was facing my left side, so last night I laid on my left side and DH says "cmon babe, the baby is facing down that way"

My SO told me that we are enforcing a "no nap" rule (we aren't going to let baby sleep during the day) that way she sleeps through the night. HAHAHA my poor baby. He is in for quite a shock.

Ha ha I lost my mucus plug this morning. I told my hubs it's possible that labor could start but not guaranteed. (They think I'm going to delivery early anyway) he asked me if we could buy a new plug and put it in! Ha ha

At my shower, a girlfriend blurted out to my DH, "Remember Mike, always front to back". He looked at me all confused, and later asked what she meant. When I finally told him, he said "this is why girls scare me, SO many rules!". Lol. Poor guy.

Haha I also had a convo about baths and diaper changing with my husband last weekend and mentioned the front to back thing which he had never heard of. He has already admitted he is scared to change her diaper lol poor guy.

But nakey babies really are the best babies! My first two were born in the winter so they had clothes on most of the time and yes, you do need a lot of baby clothes to avoid spending your days like a zombie and the washer and dryer. But I'm looking forward to the summer baby so we don't have to wear clothes so often! And plus, my birthday is in September and I ALWAYS wanted a pool party, but could never have one. Now I'll have a baby who can have a pool party every year!

Same here. (With the winter babies and having a summer baby) although I live in Florida and some days were hot. With my oldest it was beautiful weather so we always kept the windows open and she was just in a diapy and swaddling blanket. When the ac had to be on, I would put clothes on them, and when it was cold obviously.. Or just because baby clothes are absolutely precious!!! They didn't like being swaddled so much so really only when it was hot out.
I can't wait to have a summer baby! But she will be clothed because of the ac.

This morning my SO, who is an ass man, said "you have a momma butt" I stopped doing squats simply because I didnt feel up to it but plan to resume asap, I miss my bubbly butt!

I feel the same way about my breastfeeding boobs. I went from a B to an E. Couldn't figure out why all my shirts were shorter for about a month. Duh.

I was talking to my husband about using cloth diapers this time (it's our 3rd) and he goes but then we'll get all wet when she pees. I just stared at him. He thought we'd basically be putting her in underwear. I had to explain there was something in it to help soak up the fluids. Then he goes but the safety pins worry me. Oh babe...

So I've been extremely gassy during this pregnancy, at least once a week DH will come into a room I'm in and ask "did you fart?" Drives me insane! The last time he asked, I waited about 20 minutes and said to him "honey, did you smell a fart when you came in the bedroom?" He says yes. Then I tell him to stop asking stupid questions!!! We both got a great laugh. He hasn't asked since.
