Another week, another check-in! As we have had a lot of newbie intros lately I would like to post a reminder to read the sticky post about board etiquette before joining. Once you intro please feel free to jump in to the weekly check-ins so you can be an active part of the community. Also a reminder that intro-ing in your 2WW or while in your first treatment cycle is frowned upon.

I have my IVF consult Wednesday FINALLY! I am so excited to get this show on the road. I am starting to have some of the IF fears and treatment worries coming back like I did with TTC #1. I am hoping that the blessing of having my son might make it slightly easier this time. We will see.... I just want to get started and get my plan so I can focus on that and not all the questions running around in my head like,what plan will he put me on, if he is going to be extra conservative and I underestim again, etc. I get one shot at this and that is making me anxious.

I started delestrogen injections Friday, my next one is tonight. I do acupuncture wednesday, and MOAR injections, then the 17th is my lining check! If all goes well, I'll start prog in oil injections the 20th!

I need to make the decision of what embryos to transfer.

Depressed, angry, and grouchy. Lol. Not really. Well, sometimes...

Probably funny, loving, and passionate?

Cycle Status: Egg retrieval last Friday. 9 eggs retrieved, 6 mature, and 5 fertilized. I just got the Day 3 status report. 3 embies look very good, 1 is good, and the last arrested. The embryologist feels confident we'll have some make it to blast and biopsy! Our final Day 5 report comes Wednesday afternoon. It's so hard to concentrate on anything else during these days as my hopes and dreams are in a lab! These blasts will join our other 2 and go through PGD-AS testing, which is an entirely other hurdle and stressor.

@fuzzbumble , good news about your progress! Are your embies ranked somehow based on health when they were tested? I'm not very familiar with this testing and would love to hear what you were provided.

@CTinNV I needed to get AF by today in order to keep my surgery date for this Friday and no AF in site. Beta was 0 last Tuesday, E2 96 and prog 18.8 so they assumed that I O'd and would get AF before today...but of course I didn't. I didn't call the practice to tell them that because I want to keep my pre-op appt with my doc tomorrow. Face time with your doc is precious. I give up.

Cycle Status: Same old same old...waiting for AF...I think should be here in the next few days if my body decides to be regular but who knows! I'll start paying more attention to CD next month.

They do rank the embryos, or grade them rather. But he wouldn't tell me. He said the differences are minimal, and all five have the same chance of sticking. Sigh.

Basically they studied the chromosomes, how many chromosomes were in each pair. Basically the embryos were either 'normal' or 'abnormal'. For instance, our one abnormal only had one sex chromosome when there should have been two. But the remaining normal embryos, while I'm sure they have been given a grade (3AA, 4AB, etc) but they didn't give me that info.

Thank you for the info, @fuzzbumble . The lab my RE uses, Natera in San Francisco, I *think* provides percentages of confidence or some other rating like that, even within the "normals". At least that's what other friends who have used them and gone through this said. I've never seen one of their reports or how other labs do it.

Can you ask your RE for any of those letter gradings you mentioned, if they have them?

CD 1 FINALLY YESTERDAY, almost a week late, ugh!

Called and left a message for my nurse.

Scheduled HSG and called in my BCP.

I WANT MY FET DATE!!!!!!!!!!

To join your conversation and compare: My clinic has an in house lab that gives grades only at Day 5 and only on those that make it to CCS Testing. They do not give a report, they just call and tell you how many normal if any. Genders are not revealed until after the first sometimes second u/s, they see it as not ethical before then due to the possibility of gender selection.

@fuzzbumble I am so jealous you know genders, I want to know so badly. How tough not to give any other information aside from normal and gender.

@efhoping2010 I truly hate knowing. I wish I had declined knowing, and just had the embryologists choose. I have so many thoughts and concerns that would be completely invalid if I didn't know. They're dumb, good problems to have, obviously. In no way am I complaining. But the choices I must make now, knowing, are really freaking hard.

I really wish I knew grading, that would be helpful info to have. But its all relative I guess. Is a 3AA better than a 2AA? Not necessarily. Is a 4AB better than a 4BA? My RE said the difference between the number aspect is so small. It all depends on when the embryologist looked at the embryos, and whether they were compacted or not. Since blasts expand and contract before they hatch, it can appear to be less progressed than it actually is, or vice versa. Just a crazy science.

Status- t- 3 days until surgery. My MIL called last night and basically tries to make me feel guilty for not talking about all this to her more. Dude. No. I don't talk about my feelings, especially not to someone who drives me BSC most of the time.

UGH why do MILs have to be like that. I got a text from mine that said, and I quote, "Do you start some more "shots" soon?" Why the quotes? Are they make believe shots? Is this all pretend to you? Because as the 1.5" needle enters my ass, it sure feels fucking real.

I don't understand why people think we owe them shit on this lovely journey we're on. I don't want to talk about it most of the time. And if I do, guess how you'll know? Ding ding ding, you guessed it, I'll fucking bring it up. This is hard enough without feeling guilty for not being available to these people so they feel like they're doing something to help. Nope.

@flamingemu and @fuzzbumble , I could reach through the computer and hug you. This is EXACTLY how I feel about my MIL, who pushes and pushes and pushes my DH into telling her details about our treatment that I would rather not share (or even share with my parents too, of out fairness). She creates so much stress and tension between my DH and me.

Yes, I know this is the fate of their first grandchild, but their needs do not and should not supersede mine. My DH is their only child which makes this even worse.

Hi @efhoping2010, my RE's office only gives me a Day 3 status report because my first cycle was a total failure. Nothing made it to Day 5. I was so affected by it, that I made them promise to call me on Day 3 when the embryologist does a regular check anyway to tell me their statuses.

I don't think they do this for most people but since I'm into cycle #3, they are making some accommodations for me which I greatly appreciate.

I love how when you are really down other people can still make everything about THEM. DH doesn't share anything with his parents and his mother is always super hurt when she hears how my parents know everything. Talk to your son lady and leave me out of it!! Hugs!!

Cycle Status: Day 5 update is in and it came earlier than expected! Three embies made it to biopsy and blast. Now a total of 5 samples will be tested by Natera in the Bay Area. We *should* get results next Thursday or so. Super big YAY!

I want to go straight into an FET and not waste any time so they are going to put me right into a cycle once I get my period (assuming I don't have any cysts, etc.) Worst case scenario is none are viable and we stop me after only a couple days of medicating. Best case is we have healthy embies and I don't have to wait a month to jump on the FET train.

Awed news @CTinNV !!! I have been thinking about you! FX for all 3 to be healthy

. I used Natera for my free cell DNA test with DS and they got my results back early. I hope there same is true for you too. What is the time frame they gave you?

Sorry I am way late this week and run pretty ragged. Quick update is that we ended up with 5 biopsied and frozen embryos. They have not been sent out yet for PGS testing as my RE's office believes that it is not a big enough sample size given our history. DH and I talked and we're on board with their plan even though it means pushing back a FET. Since we'd love to have 2 more kids, we already pre-paid for another retrieval in this package, my eggs are certainly not getting better with time, and there's still the possibility of a FET not working. Sooo we'll be cycling again but the lab closes for July so we're on treatment break until August/September. The timing all just depends on when AF shows up this month (hasn't yet although the RE thought it would have already) as well as next month.

@lartemchuk - This is an old thread. @fuzzbumble has graduated since this was posted. Please start a new thread to intro and get to know everyone if you would like to participate on the board. As for a short answer to your question you cannot do a fresh transfer with PGD because you need blasts to do the PGD testing and by the time you get those results you won't be "in sync" to do the transfer. Also a heads up that unless you're doing gender selection due to a medical/genetic reason you probably won't get a favorable reaction here. Hope that helps!
