Mommy fail!

I Realized today that my son's fourth birthday is less than 4 weeks away and I've done nothing for the party with his friends that he asked for.

I picked a day now, it's just going to be on a weekday morning since they're all out of preschool now and all have either a parent or nanny who could drop them off. I'll send invites tomorrow.

What I need to figure out is games, decorations, and food. What games would 3-5 year olds enjoy? What are easy but good foods? I'm totally clueless. I also never had birthday parties as a kid and only got invited to a few, so my experience is lacking. Help ladies!

  • Not a mommy fail, @AmberLiz99 ! You've got lots of time. I haven't got much experience in the little kid birthday department, but I think getting some pizzas and cake would be fine. Could you make it a summer fun theme and have the kids run around in a sprinkler and play games like throwing wet sponges or squirt guns? You don't even need a kiddie pool, I'm sure they'd have a blast just running around with water.
  • Water games is a fun idea. I'm thinking 10:30-12:30, and the first 30 minutes just let the kids play, and have a few games or activities ready for after that and before the food. It might be a good idea to have some sort of loose theme...
Oh, and what sort of things do you put in the take home gift bags?

  • Gift bag: Dollar Store! Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, see what they have for outdoor games - they'll have something.
  • If you have the time, we recently had an activity day with a bubble station, a slime station (Google a recipe for slime - supposedly it's easy), a dinosaur fossil station with magic sand (flour and oil, I think and some sort of mould to fill). They had a scavenger hunt too with images to find. The kids were 3-4 and had a lot of fun.
