I have 2 girls they are older 13 & 9. I am finally getting my boy but when I went to register I wanted everything pink & purple. Why is boy stuff so blah?
I was having a really hard time finding nice boy patterns without puppies, fire trucks, and baseballs. OMG that's not all boys freaking like grrrr! I think land of nod has cute nursery stuff and as far as clothes, I'll scoop up anything without the cliche boy theme. You aren't the only one noticing all the cute girl stuff. I'm jealous!
I have a boy ! And I'm having another, my favorite theme is Winnie the Pooh its gender neutral, and it's nice. My older son is into Spider-Man and octonauts, he loves both.
We are having a girl and I don't care for a lot of the pinks. I find I like clean line with a hint of color. I am waiting for my LO to be old enough to tell me what she wants. If at two or three I end up with a pink princess room then I will be happy for her or find she loves dinosaurs that's great too!!
So far for the room I liked Simba Lion King. I also found myself drawn to the sail boats navy blue, red, & white. Car seats I liked the mint green & gray. I'm so confused.
When I was pregnant with my son, I was hoping for a girl in part so I could have a purple butterfly themed nursery. But nope! I had a boy. We did a mountain/woodland creature theme because at the time, we were living in my parents' house using my old bedroom as a nursery, complete with lavender walls.
However, if themes aren't your thing, Pottery Barn Kids has some nice patterned things that aren't as theme-y. As for clothes, it does seem that everything is cars or boats, sports, or puppies, with the occasional dinosaur. Going through my son's old stuff to get ready to sell and make room for DD's girl things, I wondered, is it coincidence he's into all these things, or is it because of what he sure the last couple years???
If you prefer solids and stripes, they're out there, just more so in stores that carry brands like Ralph Lauren rather than Carter's.
We're team Green, but I've definitely been drawn to the much cuter girl's clothes. I plan on putting up butterfly, MLP, and Disney princess decals in the nursery. If we have a boy, I don't care, I love the cute decals. He'll be too young to know what's on his walls.
I'm having a girl (at least they're pretty sure) but I love greys and mint and some of those colors and someone asked my mom why I was registered for both girl and boy stuff. I like pink but I don't want everything pink!!
I have two boys 11 & 7 and I'm having my first girl. I'm just now getting excited about the girl stuff but for weeks after I found out the sex I was still drawn to the boy section. I LOVE stripes and solids on little boys and I'm not super girly myself (I own nothing pink) so it took some time before I started finding stuff I could buy. For girls I tend to learn towards sea greens, yellows with pink accents and I'm not opposed to blues on girls either. I'm sure you'll slowly start finding boy things you love and it will make his arrival that much more exciting
Hallelujah I'm so glad I'm having a boy! Dinosaurs and nautical themes! The nursery is lion king. I do think it would be cute to do matching outfits if I were having a little girl...but black isn't a common color for little girls. We've all got matching pairs of vans for when our little boy is big enough. I did see a cute rainbow tutu the other day and immediately wanted to have more kids haha. Everything is so cute!
I have two boys and I actually adore most of the clothing. I have always dressed them like little men/little rockers and there is a lot of stuff that isn't the cliche little slugger stuff.
Ruum.com is American Eagle's kid clothing line
Crazy 8 and Children's Place gets a few lines that are pretty cool
Before I had my son I always said he would wear tons of Ralph Lauren and Guess etc., now I'm completely obsessed with all things dinosaur, insects and reptiles lol.
There is something so awesome about seeing my 2 year old getting dirty in a little T-Rex shirt and I can't wait to pull my favorites back out for this LO.
Purple is fine for a boy! I know a few guys who consider it their favorite color. My husband and I are geeks, so regardless of whether LO is a boy or girl, they will likely be wearing Star Wars onesies and have spaceships and unicorns in their room.
@LLynde5, I feel the same way. I never liked all the 'girly' stuffy when I was young. If my little one does (we don't know the sex yet), then great, I will paint the room bright pink and make princess dresses. Until then keeping it pretty neutral.
@FatPony, we're doing something similar. Lots of literary art and books with an enchanted forest kind of theme. LO will be too young to really to know, so we're decorating it the way we want. I have this adorable unicorn border I've been dying to put up. When they are older, of course we'll update the room, but for now it's trees and books and magical creatures.
It seems there's definitely more variety for girls . However, they have the cutest little boy stuff as well. I'm obsessed with little bow ties and preppy stuff. Little man clothes , super hero, dinosaur stuff is just as exciting!

And the preppy little clothes are so cute for boys! And sperry's! Gah!
