I'm 36 weeks and I had my ultrasound today. Baby is weighing in at 8.2 pounds!! I was beyond shocked!! He mentioned me possibly needing a c-section. It is pretty upsetting and scary!! Any one else just have their ultrasound and measurements done? Would you guys be freaking out too with an 8 pound baby at 36 weeks?

My Dr. told me of a vbac he did 3 weeks ago where the baby was over 10 lbs. He talked the mom through it and she gave birth vaginally. It can be done. Good luck.
drs. Can be off lol
OP: as everyone is saying u/s can be off by a pound or more in either direction, is there a reason you are having growth u/s to begin with? Gestational diabetes or something?
For what it's worth the ACOG does not recommend a c-section for suspected big baby unless baby is estimated more than 11lbs (in the absence of GD). https://www.aafp.org/afp/2001/0701/p169.html

---Thank you everyone for the advice! It does seem that ultrasounds can be quite a bit off. To answer your question, I was just going in for the standard 35 week anatomy U/S. I don't have any issue like GD. My midwife has you go in for an anatomy ultrasound at both 20 weeks and around 35 (I was actually 36 weeks). The size looked normal at my first exam so I was shocked to hear 8 pounds at this test. My husband was born over 10 pounds! Scary!!
