Shows to watch while waiting...

We are wrapping up Season 5 of Friday Night Lights. Trying to decide what to download onto ipad for hospital time when it happens. On our hospital tour, they said, "Don't count on streaming anything. Download to ipad before you get here."

After FNL, I am considering sticking with Tammy Taylor, and going with Nashville. I never watched past the first half of Season one. We are all caught up on Scandal and Game of Thrones. Any suggestions welcome. Looking for stuff Hubby and I would both be into. If it was just me, it would be just more Downton Abbey repeats obvi ;)

Orange is the New Black (season 3 is out on Netflix on June 12.)
  • If you like orange is the new black, try wentworth while waiting for June 12. We just finished that, now watching Bloodline. It's good too!
  • We loved Mad Men, and binged it on the marathon a few weekends back. OITNB, yes, i could catch up there. I'm too scared of the Walking Dead/ Vampire ones! Will check in to House of Cards and Wentworth. Thanks!
  • I Could totally re-visit all of Grey's Anatomy! Would that be weird to watch in a hospital, or cooler? Hmmmm
  • I really like The Good Wife but I think it's only on Amazon Prime.
  • @laurendutch do you know if season 6 is on prime?? I have seen up to 5- it is on demand but it's taking forever for season 6 to be on there
  • if you start supernatural you wont have to worry about running out of episodes :P
not really sure what youre into, my DH and i are currently watching walking dead, better call saul, supernatural,
as for myself i like food shows, and what most people consider "cartoons" so im probably no help. :S
  • Oh, I've totally been watching "Call the Midwife" and crying every time babies live through birth haha
  • Oh, I've totally been watching "Call the Midwife" and crying every time babies live through birth haha

Is this ok for pregnancy or will it make me anxious? (I'm a sensitive snowflake...) I've heard great things about it but kind of worried to watch it pre-birth.

OP, I second all the suggestions here. I also liked the first few seasons of Dexter (not scary because only bad people die). And I just started How I Met Your Mother, based on recommendations here.
  • Re: HIMYM, it goes downhill the season where Britney Spears appears. It's amazing before that but we dropped it and didn't regret leaving it at its highest point.

We started Justified a few weeks back and binge watched 5 seasons. We literally got to 3 episodes from the series finale when my water broke - don't think DH and I haven't mentioned it! Can't wait to finish it up with baby this week.
  • I just finished up The West Wing for the 3957393th time. I love Sorkin's other shows: Studio 60, The Newsroom, Sports Night...
  • @hoodoll82 completely agree with you on HIMYM.

Someone told me there is a spin off of the walking dead called "fear the walking dead" starting soon....

I'd like to watch some more comedy type shows. Done with unbreakable kimmy Schmidt. Wish there was more of that!!!
  • If you love FNLs I suggest Parenthood. Same writer/producer and some character overlaps throughout the seasons! I think there are 6 seasons on netflix.... Sooo addicting and my DH watches with me!

    I LOVE The Newsroom.
Then you'll LOVE The West Wing! Lots of Sorkin monologues and sharp dialogue.

I also like 'cartoons'. I'm assuming you mean anime. I plan on bringing my Naruto DVDs to the hospital to have on in the background. I've seen them enough I don't have to pay attention, but will be able to quote out my favorite parts and will enjoy watching Naruto and his squad's (and all the other ninjas in training) shenanigans again.
For me, I don't want something I haven't seen before. I'd rather have something I love and would be able to watch again cause it puts me in a good mood.
I'll probably bring my Samurai Jack seasons with me, too.

  • Sports Night is even better :)

I hate-watched the newsroom. It was cliche and pandering and yet me and DH could not help ourselves!
  • Season 1 of "girls" just came available on Netflix, that was pretty entertaining. We are also into Bloodline and just finished House of Cards. This waiting period is tough! Starting a couple new books too. tick....tock....tick....tock...

You didn't get a little bit of Josh and Leo out of Jeff Daniels?

ah yes anime. naruto was cool. but ill always be considered a loser because i actually enjoyed Inuyasha.

ETA: and yeah i guess something you know is good, is safer than something totally new. maybe ill have to download some of the shows ive already watched. i have quite the list to go through.
  • Supernatural... So much supernatural....
  • I started Supernatural and watched a few episodes, but couldn't get into it. Does it pick up?
  • @Westypet yes it definitely picks up. I wasnt too into the first season, I kind of found every episode to be the same. The story has picked up and I am now definitely addicted! There should be more shirtless scenes though...

The Newsroom is AMAZING!! Best pilot ever!

I tried this one too.. Wasn't feeling it
  • Bumping this post bc lots of us are bored/grumpy/over it.

Anyone watching SYTYCD or America's Got Talent?
  • How has nobody mentioned The Blacklist? DH and I are obsessed with the main story but also the weekly bad guys. We actually went to a Halloween party last year as the main characters and stayed in character most of the party.
  • DH and I just started Prison Break on Netflix. It's pretty interesting, but he's way more into it than I am.
Scandal was also one of those shows we watched together.

For the hospital and all those hours I'll be spending breastfeeding, I'm saving Friends for that. I plan to watch all seasons from the beginning.
  • We're hooked on Netflix ... Sons of Anarchy, Orange is the New Black, Prison Break, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Game of Thrones, Vikings, Rookie Blue :)
