Crockett is off the table! Yes! But need help with name

Dh has FINALLY 100% accepted that our son will not be named Crockett (hallelujah)! He doesn't even necessarily want to use it as a middle name, even though I compromised there. Anyway, two of our top names now are:

Everett and Barrett

He wants to call him Rhett/Rett, which I don't LOVE, but let's be honest, pretty much anything is better than Crockett. ETA: I LOVE Everett and Barrett, just not the nn Rhett, but since I will call him by his name and dh will use the nn, I don't really care that much about the Rhett part

Our last name starts with a "P" and is 3 syllables and we don't have middle name ideas yet, but it will be something short/1 syllable.

Everett or Barrett? Why?

We live in the South. It's a very southern name. I will call him by his actual name, dh will use Rhett. It isn't my favorite nickname ever, but doesn't bother me.

I am surprised he gave up because I am married to the most stubborn human alive. Plus he is a salesman (an extraordinarily fantastic one) so he is used to closing the deal so to speak. He does still name drop Crockett when we are around others, presumably hoping that someone will say, "Crockett, wow! What an awesome name!" But that never happens. So. Mommy gets this one

I like Everett. DH and I discussed that name with our first baby, but then she was a girl.

Boy name would've been Everett Thomas, but I like the sound of @amberrmariee20 's suggestion: Everett James.

And the Gone With the Wind fan in me loves the nn Rhett

Barrett is a middle school in my town, so I don't automatically think of that as a first name, but I like the sound of it.

Either way, thank goodness it's not Crockett!

Everett Everett Everett!! Oh my gosh. Love it. I'm also partial to Rhett as a nn because I'm also from Georgia. And yay no Crockett! I polled my husband on the name and he goes, "Like Miami Vice?"

Funny I am also from GA and a huge GWTW/Margaret Mitchell fan, but never connected Rhett with Rhett Butler. Makes me love the nn!

Everett is so cute! I LOVE the name Rhett for a nickname. Reminds me of GWTW and Rhett Butler.

hey, I know an Everett at work, he is a southerner too! I don't hate Rhett but seriously after that Crockett nonsense anything else sounds better

If you don't like the nickname you don't have to use it, the name my hubs and I have picked out, he wants a different nickname than me and that's cool.

Everett is one of my favorite boy name picks!! My brothers middle name is Everett and it's my great grandpa's name. I was trying to convince hubby of it but we are having a girl anyway!! Good choices!
