crib mattresses - sealy soybean foam core?

hey all, what crib mattress are you going to buy? for most of the stuff that's out there i've had no problem choosing something after doing some research but for crib mattresses there seems to be so much conflicting advice. FWIW we are going with the Graco Lauren crib. has anyone used the sealy soybean foam core? what did you think of it? any other suggestions? i am looking for something in the same price range- $140- or less. thanks!

Re: crib mattresses - sealy soybean foam core?

  • Ordered a Sealy precious rest crib and toddler mattress. Going to pick it up now. It got great reviews and the price is good. It was $80. It's firmer on one side for crib and softer on other side for toddler bed.

  • I used a sealy soybean foam core with our first. It's been a great mattress. Not sure if it was worth the extra money though or if a $50 one would have been fine.

  • I got a sealy from bbru and it was 99 dollars with great reviews
  • I got the soybean mattress for my son, because I was concerned about off-gassing. Three years later, it is holding up great!
  • I have to be honest, I read "Sealy soybean foam core" and thought, that's a load of crap. Not that you or your decision are at all, but I mean the mattress companies and their names for mattresses! I actually hate mattress shopping because companies rename the same mattress different things at various stores, and it just irritates me as a consumer. If I remember tomorrow, I'll check to see what DD's mattress is. I know it's a good mattress and she sleeps really well (almost 2 years old now), so we're hoping it'll last through another kiddo when this LO arrives.

  • @livenlove44 hahaha, your post made me laugh because my hubs said the same thing-- marketing scam!! honestly i don't care if it has soy or anything, i was just overwhelmed by the choices and noticed it had a somewhat affordable price point and popped up on a lot of blogs as a good mattress. it also had good reviews on amazon but who knows how many of those are genuine. plus i feel like sealy is a quality company and obviously safety is important. i am just choosing based on those factors so i appreciate any alternative suggestions too! being a first time mom involves learning sooo much even before the baby comes and there are so many things to think about... just trying to narrow down some of the options!
  • We got a Beautyrest one, and I honestly don't remember what mattress I had with my other two. Youngest will be 7 when this one is born so it's like we are starting over again :). One thing that shocked me is changing pad prices! Some of them are close to $100, I remembered them to be much more affordable than that.
