Last Days Before Baby: Doing Anything Fun?

I'm starting to get a little anxious about fitting in all of the things we have to do before the baby comes.

Not only are there "must-dos", but I want to enjoy this time before life changes so dramatically! Have some fun, maybe?

Anyone have plans for any fun things, social events, or date nights in this time pre-baby? (Or before your next baby comes?)

Bonus: How will you manage the "fun" with all of the crap symptoms most of us have been having lately?

  • My stepson plays travel baseball so both my boys have been pretty busy. I've had a lot of relaxing time which is nice since yesterday was my stepsons last day of school and now he will be with me during the days. Glad to have a couple of days for us but not easy to rest when it is us.
  • My last day of work will be on the 16th. I have 3 vacation days that I need to use or loose by July. So I'll use my vacation days and then my scheduled c section is the 22nd and I'll start my 8 week maternity leave!

The first day "on vacation" I'll prolly do some light cleaning, laundry and meal preps. The second day, DH will pay hooky from work in the afternoon and we'll do lunch and a movie out. We haven't been on a date in ages due to DS#1. lol we don't have sitters to watch him or family around, so we're looking forward to an afternoon date. On the last and final day, I have an OB appt for a NST and a brow appt. I'll most likely get a mani/pedi as well.

    Really looking forward to it!

Getting induced tomorrow and had planned to have a very relaxing day at the spa and get a massage and mani and pedi, then life happened. DH and I got back home(we were out of town for graduations and weddings) and the outlet our freezer is plugged into quit working. I now have to spend the day throwing out spoiled meat and scrubbing the freezer with charcoal and baking soda X( . I just wanted to relax today :((

ETA BECAUSE MY PHONE POSTED BEFORE I WAS FINISHED TYPING.
  • I recommend going out to a fancy restaurant and going to the movies.  We were really bad at getting sitters (still are) and I really miss going to the movies!

  • Baby Shower saturday! hoping my water doesn't break in the middle of it!

I remember being anxious about this too. Although, that would make for an epic baby shower story.

I've been off work since 31 weeks, as per doctor. So I've had lots of time to spend with friends, family and getting things ready. Very blessed! Although i do miss work. I hadn't made any big plans for June, assuming LO would be an early arrival as doctors anticipated.

So now, between date nights a couple times a week with DH and friends, freezer meals and probably some unnecessary shopping, we wait...
  • Like @klkonwi I live in a really small.town and there is not much to do. We could go to the movies, but there isn't anything I'm really dying to see, and I don't want to try to get comfortable at this stage sitting in the theater. I'd rather Netflix something at home with my feet up.
Hubs just got home for the day, but he's totally wiped. I'm hoping after he gets a nap we can go for an aimless drive, I like roadtripping (even when there is no destination) and its a frickin lovely day

  • @mellymar if we were real life friends and lived in the same place we would tear up some country roads!!!!! And drink some NA beer while doing it!!!

I've been kind of the opposite lately in that my husband has made fun plans for us and I've been a homebody... he and our daughter (3.5yr old) have been doing fun stuff together lately and pretty much each weekend is theirs and I do random baby projects like laundry or sew some cloth diapers... we have been having lunch dates- all 3 of us- which is really nice and feels like quality time for us and it breaks up his work day. We've had a few movie and dinner dates throughout this pregnancy and its been nice too. We have the most fun just hanging out doing projects on our house.

  • I am still debating when to stop working.   I am 38 weeks today and have a scheduled C-section on the 12th that may be moved to the 10th, due to breach baby.....................my brain stopped working ;)  Would love to stop working now!
  • Had a date with DS1 at the park this morning! Then picked up some last minute items at the store and packed our diaper bag - love organizing things like that! And it was so much fun to go through all of the old baby clothes. Though I remember DS1 wearing them, they look impossibly teeny tiny now! Currently a little freaked out about how small and fragile new babes are..
  • My advice- don't wait! I had grand plans for a spa day on Memorial Day before my DH cooked out. I went into labor 4am that morning and I'm stuck with three week grown out nails until I get the chance to go get them done!
  • Baby Shower saturday! hoping my water doesn't break in the middle of it!

Same here!! It would be a good story in the future though

Tomorrow I am taking a half day off of work and getting a massage, chiropractic adjustment and pedi. This momma could sure use some pampering!
  • I love all these!!

We're doing a double date Friday night with my best friend and her new bf. It's an outdoor movie showing at a park--picnic style. Here's hoping that my lawn chair, folding ottoman, mister, cooler, and ice packs keep me comfy in this 85 degree heat!

This feels kind of like a last hurrah.
  • Well my sister and my two nieces (14 months and 9 years old) just surprised me by flying in from Japan, so I think I want to treat them to A Taste of Dallas. I love going to this event with families,. I just hope its not too much on my body!

How awesome!! This makes me happy. Enjoy, and take care of yourself!
  • Scheduled a massage for next Wednesday...... Thanks to @westypet DH and I will be organizing the nursery this weekend.

Here's one plan Id like to have happen before this baby comes......
I would like to be headache and migraine free for the next week and 3 days...........

  • You should feel soooo good after getting the organizing task done!

Hmmm maybe I need a massage...

Are you gonna lay on tummy or on side for this one? I think I may be too big for the tummy hole...

I love the tummy hole! I do have to roll and towel to prop up my bladder/pelvis area because it gets heavy and makes me feel like peeing myself lol.......

I hope your not too big for the tummy hole!!!! I did a side lying one very early on 20 weeks ish and it wasn't as enjoyable. Felt ticklish! @Westypet
You DO need one. Now is the time!!!
  • Do massages help reduce swelling? I need to ask the google. My fingers are so bad, I'm one-finger tap typing right now. I can't pinch!
Maybe a manicure would do the trick!
