What is the age gap between your kids?

Just wondering the age gap between your kids for those of us that already have LO's, and your thoughts on it?

My DD is 2yr 8 mo now.  She will be 3 yr 4 mo when baby #2 is born.  I'm happy with the age difference, we tried to have a second earlier, but went through 2 MC's last year.

Re: What is the age gap between your kids?

  • Our gap will be 3 years and 10 months, which I am happy with.

  • Our gap will be 2 years and 2 months. I am scared about how I can handle it, but God never gives us more than we can take.
  • My DS is 3yrs 4months. When this next baby is born, he will be 3yrs 11 1/2 months.
Basically I'll have a newborn and a 4yr old. Which is better to me cause he's starting the whole "I wanna do it myself". I figure that will help a lot!
  • DS is 16, SD is 15, and DD is 18 mos. we had a big gap with DD (about 14 yrs), but DD will be 2 yrs 2 mos when LO comes.
  • Between my first (3) and my second (19 months) there is a 21 month gap. Between my second and third, there will be a little over a two year gap (approx. 27 months). I would have loved a bigger gap between my first and second, but it has worked out pretty well.

  • Our age gap will be 21 months. I'm starting to get nervous as my dd is getting older/more active/all over the place!!!!!
  • Ours will be 3 years and 3 months apart and I think that is a pretty great age gap. Young enough to still be pals when LO gets older but old enough that DD has some independence and is capable of helping out.

DS will be 3 yr 4 mo too! We wanted a little smaller gap but it took a while to get pregnant. Now I'm kind of glad DS will be over 3 because he is starting to get much more independent, which will help so much once a newborn is around!

  • DD and the new lo will be 2 weeks shy of 3 years apart.

  • DS is 6 months on Friday (where does the time go?!) so 14 months will be our gap
  • DS and baby will be 21 months apart. It will be a challenge but I'm a keeping a positive outlook! It will be a great reward when they are a little older!!
  • Ours will be 20 months apart! Crazy close! We got pregnant literally right away- we kind of expected it to take a little longer.
  • My son will be 5 yr 3 Mos when LO is born. I wanted to have our 2nd 2 years ago but it didn't work out financially at that time. I am worried whether I have a boy or a girl that they won't be close but I'm hoping for it. Then I plan on getting pregnant with a 3rd in about 2 or 2.5 years.

My brother and I are 6 years apart and while I can't say I was thrilled with a sibling after he was born (I was very jealous), he is one of my best friends. We are very close!! I got to "cover" for him when he was a teen and be his confidant about certain things. Now as adults, we talk about everything and hang out. Of course we fight, but we get along great! I'm sure your children will too!!
  • DS will be 4 1/2 when LO arrives.  That's how many years are between my sister and me and we have a great relationship.  I think I'll like the age difference.  DS will be able to help, and also I think it'll be better for us financially.

  • Our gap will be around 2.5 years.  I'm happy with that.  I think we're going to evict our son from his crib and transition him to a big boy bed so the baby can have his crib.

Mine will be almost exactly 3 years apart. DD original due date was Jan 8th, but was 3 weeks early. This one's EDD is Jan 7th. I'm hoping they don't have the same birthday!
  • My two boys are 18 months apart and are almost 4 and 2.5 and I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my third child. My older boys will be 4 and 3 when the baby is born. Having a toddler and a newborn was rough but I am hoping things will be easier with this third baby since my other kids will be a little older and my oldest will be in preschool full time by then.
  • My stepdaughter will be 1 month shy of 15yo when baby comes! She's very excited, which I'm very thankful for!
  • Mine will be almost 2 1/2 years apart by the time this baby is born.
  • I have a 3 yr gap between #1 & 2, then 15 months between #2 & 3, 3 years between #3 & 4, 17 months between #4 & 5, and this will be 3 yrs between #5 & 6!
  • I have a 4 year old and a 2.5 year old, they are 28 months apart. The gap between my youngest and this one will be about 3 years. I think that will work better than 2 years haha.

  • My first two kiddos are 2.5 yrs apart, then we had a 10 yr gap and had my DS#2 who will be 1.5 yrs apart from this baby :).

Our gap will be 5 years 1 month :) I'm happy with it. Our son will be in school four afternoons/week so I hope it'll balance nicely!

  • Each if the age gap is about 3 years. So DD will be almost 6 and DS will be almost 3 when #3 is born. I love the gap, they are out of diapers and able to be independent but still close to be buddies.

I'm a firm believer in there's pros and cons to all age gaps!

  • Our kids will be 2y8m apart. I wanted kids between 2-3 years apart, so this is perfect. I originally thought I wanted them closer to 2 years apart, but now I'm glad DS will be closer to 3. He is a handful right now and I'm hoping he's more independent - or at least more verbal by that time, so we can communicate easier when I'm busy with the baby.

SD will be 9 and SS will be 7.  I'm not too worried about the age gap.  They have both been helping out around the house more, so I think it will only make life easier.  :)

  • My DS will be 3 years, 10 months when this LO comes. So almost 4. I wanted them to be closer but we had a loss and it took us almost a year of trying before we finally got our BFP.  In the long run, I think it is good though.

  • My DD will be 12 when LO is born and my DS will be 6; so pretty much a 6 year gap between each child. We definetly have variety in our age groups in this household.
  • We're in the middle of the range, DD will be just over 2.5.

I have three step-daughters, who will be 15, 14 and 9 when the baby comes. We haven't told them yet - waiting to do it in person this weekend. I hope they are as excited as yours!!

  • My kiddos will be 19mo apart! A little closer then we were originally thinking, but we are so excited!
  • My son was exactly 19months old when my daughter was born, and my daughter will be 2yr 3 months when this one is born. I've always wanted kids close together. TBH it'll nice that they'll be older with this next one.
  • My first two are 22 months apart. Then I had 2 m/cs and major surgery before #3, so #2 and #3 are 4 yrs 8 months apart. #3 and #4 will be almost 25 months apart. My older two, especially my dd, has been really helpful with #3 so it worked out well. Both older kids are great with the little one.

  • Our daughter will be 7 when the baby arrives! I am not worried at all about an age difference. She is super excited and can't wait to help. I have 3 siblings and there are 21 years between the oldest and youngest. And we all are pretty close :)
