The RRL tea isn't supposed to start labor. It's supposed to strengthen the uterus. Not sure about the EPO.
  • Loading the player...
  • EPO is supposed to soften and possibly help dilate the cervix. Not really send you into labor.

  • Drinking the tea for a week. Still not a BH to be seen. I don't mind though because to me it tastes pretty good.

Id like to report that I have some type of contractions finally...... Not sure if they are BH. They come on when I am up walking for extended periods or cleaning etc...... They prob are BH who knows. I've been doing the liter of tea a day.
@dancegurl1118 @HayesRN13 it's hard to tell... And I feel stupid but I feel the apex of my uterus as I would a patient and it all just feels hard to me all the time during these...... But it could just be because they are uncomfortable and I can't relax. Mostly I feel the pain in the lower pelvic area. I feel very stupid like since I'm trained I should be able to tell! Duh.... Ugh.
  • Started drinking the Traditional Medicinals Organic Raspberry Leaf tea about 5 days ago at 36 weeks.

    I am drinking 3 cups a day.

I have done some research and read that it takes a couple of weeks to start working in your body.
My BH have been getting progressively more intense and frequent but I'm not sure if that is due to the tea.
The taste isn't bad at all.
I bought 4 boxes (16 tea bags each box) so just enough to almost last until my due date.

I also have the Traditional Medicinals brand Mother's Milk tea that I will drink after giving birth for breastfeeding support.

I realized I forgot to ramp up to two cups a day in week 36 and now I'm technically in week 37 (I count my week starting on Monday, tb for some reason put them on Thursdays...?) so I should probably do the quart a day. Yesterday I had two cups and today and tomorrow I'll do that again, then I guess try for the quart later this week. I did get some dates, tho. Not too bad! Taste kinda like raisins, tho they look like dead cockroaches, lol. I could eat 6 a day, shouldn't be a problem.

    Edited, spelling.

  • I've really been slacking on my dates. I hate them. I do every other day because that's all I can stomach. If I'm induced, my water breaks before labor, and my latent phase of labor is 3 days, I'm blaming it all on the dates.

still drinking my gallons of RRL tea though...love this stuff. I'm on week 4.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Not sure why some women seem scared to take RRL tea until a certain point. It isn't labour inducing and definitely takes weeks make a difference. I feel like 36 weeks is much too late to reap benefits. Drink up ladies! It's one of the best teas for females pregnant or not.

Alright...... Id like an update on who has been using evening primrose vaginally or orally or both and who has had a change in cervix or anything to report ?!

I have to report that the last 3 days I have slacked on drinking my RRL tea and I'm mad at myself.
  • I started drinking the tea 4 days ago I had pretty good contractions going that were much stronger than before they went away. I skipped it last night but had another cup today. I'm hoping it help dilate me at least a little, because my appointment is tomorrow. I only have one cup a day. I might up it tomorrow if I'm still not doing anything. I didn't eat the dates though or the primrose. Just the tea.

@queequeg09256 From what I understand the tea will definitely not dilate you. It will just tone the uterus so your contractions are more meaningful when the real time comes.
I was doing the liter a day and never had any of the stronger BH but I know others did!

  • I'll take toning! Anything to help the real labor move along. I'm not a fan of pain or being in the hospital so whatever helps with that I'm all for it
  • I too started eating pineapple everyday. I've been drinking red raspberry leaf tea throughout this entire pregnancy, definitely more now that I am 39 weeks. Spicy food, check, sex at least every other day, check and trying to walk at least 30min every day, check. It's starting to get hot where I live so I start to swell pretty bad on walks so it may have to be in door activities from now on...
I am definitely anxious to have this baby. However, I am practicing patience. My OB office does not check for dilation until 41 weeks.
Probably for the best. The only early labor signs I am having are mild to menstrual-like-painful cramps and nausea. Oh and of course nesting!
    Good luck ladies...

I keep meaning to buy some but keep forgetting...it's probably too late for me to get any benefits. :(
  • I personally felt the tea made my contractions more effective and am almost completely done bleeding 3 1/2 days post delivery. Also Drs were impressed with my uterus firming up so fast, I am shocked how much my stomach has shrunk I only look 4 moths pregnant ;)

I will speak from personal experience. The tea did not do anything for me :( although I really enjoyed drinking it. I'm going to research it helping breast milk. I thought I read something about it. BUT I was unfortunate in never progressing past 4cm even after close to 20hrs of labor and extremely high doses of pitocin. I pray it works for all of you!!! I still believe in it.
  • ^^^^^ super pumped because I've been doing the liter regimen !
  • ^^^ super deflated cause I've only been having a cup a day and I've forgotten some days this week. Need to figure out how to make mass quantities. Was planning on coming back to page 1 of this thread tomorrow to see @dancegurl1118's method of making a lot of it, and iced

  • Started eating my dates today! I only ate 3 though. They don't really have a taste. Also taking the EPO... Anyone notice bowel movement changes after taking it? Not that we aren't having changes err'day & all... But like olive green coloring?... Beuller?
  • @krystleshel I've been doing epo. orally for about a week and vaginally for 3 nights now. I do not notice a difference. Every other day my bowels are either constipated or have the big d' and I don't mean Dallas. So.... I can't really tell lol

I would chalk this low cervical weird feeling up to the epo but I really can't because that started 2 weeks ago..... And hasn't changed.
  • We are all so clueless. Haha it is so funny to think about. We're all so ready to be in labor & meet LO, we think everything is something & then the new moms tell us, "YOU'LL KNOW." I want to know now.

I also feel like we're all like Jack in NBC. "What's this? What's this? Constipation & heartburn! What's this? What's this? Oh diarrhea & cramping..." But no fun Christmas things.
  • I want a neon sign!
    @krystleshel

  • I feel like I could recreate the whole song... (This is what happens when you put a teacher on summer break...)

    "What's this? What's this? There's pressure everywhere!"
  • Also, neon sign... "THIS IS LABOR... Wait 20 minutes then leave for hospital."
  • I feel like I could recreate the whole song... (This is what happens when you put a teacher on summer break...)

    "What's this? What's this? There's pressure everywhere!"

    What's this? I shouldn't have hair there!
  • Hahaha I googled it. This is what I got...
  • Tonight I told my friend (we live in the same neighborhood) to go into l and d (30 min away) because we went on a walk today and she had to keep stopping and bending over from contraction pain. I felt her contractions and they were moderate. She said they were 6 min apart tonight...... I said go in!!!!!
    And I'm so jealous......
So so very jealous. I know I'm not quite cooked yet but Frick. I want one of my nurse friends to live in my neighborhood...... Damn it... So I can get some feedback. I can't feel my own abdomen when I am feeling tense/Bh/contractions.
  • For the longest time I didn't open this thread, mainly because I had no idea what red rasberry tea was. After reading through it a couple days ago I ordered it ASAP along with EPO pills. Thank god for amazon prime so they should be here tomorrow!

Jeez..... I sound so desperate to get this little girl out lol
  • FI calls it my "uterus tea". I think it's working to tone my uterus because since starting it every once in a while I poke my stomach and its firm. No pain, I can't even feel it contracting, I only notice if I touch it and it's hard. Who knows why but I'll give the credit to RRL!
  • I am hoping the dates are effective even when they are wrapped in bacon and grilled ;)
Just got back from Whole Foods and this is on the weekend menu.
