I passed by an Arby's and immediately had to stop for a roast turkey & swiss market fresh sandwich. I just finished half of the sandwich when I realized turkey is probably off limits! Lo and behold I just scared the crap out of myself by googling the risks

( Anyone else ear turkey or something else you're not supposed to?
Re: Anyone out there eat off-limit foods?
Everything in moderation. As someone pointed out on another thread: the most recent listeria outbreak came from ice cream, which has never been on any "do not eat" list.
I eat lunchmeat and drink my one morning cup of coffee. I think once I hit my third trimester, I might even have a few sips of wine. The whole listeria abd lunchmeat thing sounds crazy to me. There is more outbreaks in fresh produce. I find it crazy pregnant women are scoffed for eating a turkey sandwich or drinking a cup of coffee, but no one would bat an eye if I ate a big Mac and fries. Ugh.. anyway, the link to the blog above is a fun read!
I also have my 150 mg caffeine/day and it makes my morning.
Perfectly healthy Wee one tracking ahead of her date. She should have a solid immune system upon arrival :-)
I've been eating hummus with brown rice almost everyday!
I break the rules often too. Moderation is important. I haven't had much alcohol but I'm not against it- just don't crave it. Coffee is probably my worst thing. But I really don't like to function without it.
Straight numbers, you are twice as likely to be killed by lightning. You are six times more likely to be struck by lightning than Listeria. Most of the Listeria deaths were elderly, most were from eating soft cheese, and most of those were a specific type of Mexican cheese. And all of those numbers were so small as to be statistically irrelevant.
Since we got pregnant the outbreaks have been in ice cream, a brand of frozen food, and hummus- no no-no foods and the frozen meals had to be heated thoroughly to be edible.
I did no lunch meat until I saw all that, and when I started again and someone asked why I have them that information and said I'd expect to lose the baby if I were hit by lightning.
DH (he's DH now!) is very protective, though, so I still avoid soft cheee, sushi, alcohol, and coffee only once a day so it looks like I'm being careful, but I did say to him recently that I felt like these food restrictions are kind of ridiculous so maybe I'll get to loosen up even more. Like we're not supposed to eat uncooked vegetables? Come on.
A PP said something like it happened to someone once and now everybody's worried. Like the crib bumpers, these things are so rare they're basically freak accidents.
We're too hard on ourselves, and everyone else is too hard on us.
