Medication question , clinic screw up?

Okay I was prescribed macrobid at 10 weeks pregnant for a Uti.
Without a Uti?
She said it came up negative except for a small amount of proteins in my urine and the fact that I've been getting up at night to pee ( I drink a water bottle before bed ) Is enough reason to prescribe something that says on the bottle do not take unless Uti is positive or strongly likely ..
Also I googled and some people say it's made them miscarry
aND I'm allergic to Sulfa and it has sulphites in it .. She knew this. This isn't my doctor it's a walk in clinic , I got the pills but am refusing to take them until I have good results . No burning no itching no off coloured discharge ! I'm on vaginal progesterone suppositories .

    Has anyone taken macrobid and lost a healthy viable pregnancy?
    Anyone taken it and had a healthy baby?

    It's listed as a pregnancy category B, so technically it's safer than Tylenol (a category C). But if you don't feel like you should take it, get a second opinion, it doesn't hurt. Talk to the pharmacist too and see what they say about it, especially with your allergy

    Thank you! I'm really worried about what happens if you take it with no Uti ... Because I didn't have a positive test .. :( Just protien. Also my blood pressure was normal ruling out pre eclampsia

    Asymptomatic bacturia is common in pregnancy and something we like to treat before it advances to pyelonephritis, which is dangerous if not treated in pregnancy.

    While it contains sulphites it is not considered a sulfa drug and if you have an allergy to sulfa there are other alternatives to this medication that can be administered.

    Also allergic to penicillin :/ and nothing came up positive though just a small amount of protien quoting her which is supposed to be normal I've read ? She said she only prescribed because of frequent peeing at night

    I had a trace amount of protein in my last urine test, my OB said it is not anything to be concerned about. I would probably contact my OB before taking that medication if you don't believe you have a UTI. I thought frequent peeing at night was normal in pregnancy? Maybe it depends on how frequent? I usually get up once at night, occasionally twice. If I drank water right before bed, it might be more often.

    It doesn't sound justified if you really only had protein in your urine but it is safe in pregnancy and is not a sulfa drug so it is also safe with your allergy
